Wide-angle 35mm lens is designed for FX-format F-mount cameras, however, can also be used with DX models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.

One extra-low dispersion glass element is used in the optical construction to reduce a variety of chromatic aberrations and color fringing for a high degree of clarity and color neutrality.

One aspherical element is used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.

Super Integrated Coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.

Silent Wave Motor affords quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. A Rear Focusing System is also used, where only the rear lens group is moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What's the difference between (85mm+35mm) f1.8G and f1.8G ED

A: ED is low dispersion glass, it has better quality glass. Extra-low dispersion glass element is used in the optical construction to reduce a variety of chromatic aberrations and color fringing for a high degree of clarity and color neutrality.

Q: 2. What is the difference between this lens and the other 35 mm1.8 G lens that is stound 250.00

A: I believe you are looking at the difference between the DX (crop sensor) and FX (Full Framework) price. The crop sensor versions are usually about half the price of the full frame versions. Unless you have a full frame camera, or thinking about getting one, get the DX version. It is always best to get the version of lens designed for your camera.

Q: 3. If I use this FX 35mm lense on my DX D300 body, will it essentially be a 50mm? (which is what I need). Thanks, Paul.

A: Hi Paul, you are correct...with the Nikon 1.5x crop factor, you will essentially get the full frame equivalent of a 50mm lens (actually 52.5mm). Bare in mind though that the crop factor extends to the F-stop too with respect to depth of field.Hope this helps.Michael

Q: 4. Is this lens compatible with the D7100?

A: Yes this lens will work on the D7100...in fact just about all Nikon lenses will work of the 7100...I use some lenses on my 7100 that I have had for over 40 years

Q: 5. Is this lens compatible with the D80 and D7200?Brian

A: Yes, this lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D80 and D7200 cameras.

Q: 6. usa warranty?

A: Yes, this item will come with a USA warranty.

Q: 7. I have a D3200 and I just want to be sure that this lens is capable of its autofocus function with that camera body. I am specifically looking for a wide angle lens good for beginners and will allow for nice landscape shots. If this lens won't work very well with that application could you point me to one that might work.

A: Yes, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED Lens is fully compatible with the D3200, including autofocus.

Q: 8. Does it work with the Nikon F100?

A: Yes, this lens will work with the Nikon F100.

Q: 9. Good for weddings

A: Nice focal length but not ideal for wedding. I would suggest looking into the following lens as it will not overlap a working lens outfit. Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G Lens B&H # NI8518G MFR # 2201 Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G Lens B&H # NI8514GAF MFR # 2195

Q: 10. Is this a sharp lens for a D800?

A: Very sharp lens. I like it a lot. It shines from 2.8. For family / people i shoot at F2.8; nature at F8. The lens is just an instrument. Everybody is different and approach to record the moment of life is also different. I think 20mm 1.8, 35mm 1.8, and 70-200 f2.8 must have it. For nature, i use most of the time 35mm, than 16-35mm. Family and travel, 35 and 70-200.

[8.9 x 5.1 x 5"] I use this on a crop sensor body (D500). Lenses are usually sharpest at the center and this lens is for a full frame sensor. So, a crop sensor will use the sharpest part of the lens.

This lens is not bulky and focuses quickly.

[1.29 lb] I have a DX 35mm lens but recently upgraded and also bought this FX lens and I am glad I did. I mainly shoot concerts and this is amazing for shows with being right up front and capture the performers. This lens is incredible and I would recommend to anyone.

[35mm] I shoot resorts, food, and yachts for a living. This lens can shoot it all and i love the quality/depth of field. I was even chosen by Nikon to be featured on their social media (twice). And I was using this lens in those photos. Can't recommend it enough. the 28mm is also well worth the purchase.

[63°] I'm not partial to 50mm on FX which I consider boring. Sharp and fast, AF-S focuses instantly. I could shoot all day with this one lens.

[58 mm (Front)] Small, lite and focuses fast. This lens spends a lot of time on my D750.
After a little practice I'm getting great results. For the price you can't go wrong...lots of bang for the buck!
