Q: 1. I am wanting to connect a 2013 iMac to a ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K. Would this Converter work if I used Mini DisplayPort to HDMI from the iMac, to the HDMI in on this Converter, and then passed SDI to the Switcher?

A: Hi, I don't have the switcher, but I do have the Blackmagic HDMI-SDI 6g, and an atomos shogun inferno, and a 2012 MacMini. I was able to see output from the Mac Mini at 1080p, but did not see any choices for higher resolution. I'm not sure that you can even pass 4:2:0 2160 signal at 30fps over a 3g input Blackmagic does make an admittedly more expensive HDMI - SDI convert to pass full UHD, BH #BLTRMHDMISDI • MFR #CONVNTRM/AB/HSDI (the Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini HDMI to SDI 12G Converter). I'm not a B&H employee, but they have a very reasonable return policy; you could ask if they wuold let you try the cheaper one, and if it didn't work, exchange it with more $$ for the faster one.

Q: 2. Can I convert an HDMI signal from iPad to SDI 1080i 59.94 for Atem studio switcher?

A: No. The iPad is 60 Hz output and the ATEM Television Studio will not accept 60 Hz output on SDI inputs.

Q: 3. I see that it will downconvert to 1080p on the HDMI output when a non-4k device is connected, but will the SDI output still be 4k in this case? Looking for simultaneous 4k SDI out for recording and 1080p HMDI out to ATEM Mini

A: If the main stream is 4k over SDI the output of the converter will be setup to what the receiver, lcd or recorder wants. As long as the recorder is setup to receive and communicate to the converter it wants 4k that’s what will be available.

Q: 4. Can it be powered by the mini usb port?

A: No, requires 12 volt power.

Q: 5. does it convert 1080p to 4k?

A: No, this device does not convert 1080P to 4K.....4K is 4 times the resolution of 1080P (think 4 1080P signals combined). This device takes a video signal on an HDMI cable and converts it to an SDI cable. Why convert to an SDI cable? Because SDI cables can carry a video signal MUCH further than an HDMI cable can a video signal. What kind of input signals can this device handle and convert to SDI? It can handle video resolutions of 4K, 1080P and lower. But all it s does is convert the input signal from HDMI cable to SDI cable, it does not change the input resolution.....what goes in is what goes out....just over a different kind of cable that can handle longer distances than HDMI can handle. If you want to convert a signal from one resolution to another.....like 1080P to 4K or the reverse 4K to 1080P then you need a video scalar like this product from B and H......SC-HDM-HD42K 2-Port HDMI 4K Scaler from Avenview.

Q: 6. I would like to use my Sony FX1 as a webcam for Skype, Would this work?

A: It will work to convert to SDI. To stream to Skype using Blackmagic gear you could use the Web Presenter instead.

Q: 7. Will this work with the HDMI 4k output from the Sony FS7? How long will the output signal travel via SDI before it breaks down?

A: Yes it will work. I have about 125ft of sdi Cable running to a switcher it works fine.

Q: 8. What is the processing delay in ms?

A: It is about 4 lines except when down converting which will be about a frame.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with Mac OS 10.10.5?

A: The setup program has a minimum requirement of 10.12 but some of these applications will work on earlier OS versions. You could test this by downloading the app and seeing if it will install. That said, you only need to install the app if you are going to update firmware on the device.

[1x HDMI Male] I am surprised how this model in longer lengths is not used more often. It costs less than a HDMI to CAT to HDMI. Up to 25' it is always perfect. Definite degradation at 35' and beyond. My favorite part is how it rolls / unrolls so well! 5

[0.15 lb] I used this cable mated with a 25 foot HDMI cable (made by Audtek) with a female-to-female HDMI coupler (made by QVS) and it worked with no issues. The application was a DSLR camera in Live shoot mode (with clean HDMI output) to a video switcher with HDMI inputs. 35 length of cable to the camera position. Worked fine! One thing I'll add is not a negative but an observation about the photo. I was expecting the cable to be slightly thinner than the Pearson HDMI which is less pricey (I purchased both to keep one as a spare), they are more or less the exact same diameter. Note equivalent spec cable made by Pearson was tested with the DSLR camera and also worked fine (but didn't test with extension length and coupler). This Kramer HDMI cable should last years and years (and so will the Pearson); to me, the Kramer seems a little more "hardened" but can't speak to one or the other's long term reliability because I just got them. 5

[0.15 lb] i found these on a search for narrower diameter cables and found that these meet industry standards.. and are priced great. other cables i used to use have no standard they meet and why they are built like they are. THESE ARE MY ONLY CABLE I WILL USE... unless forced to use a swiveling end they dont make. you will not be disappointed... 5

[9.5 x 8 x 0.3"] Used this cable in an installation where we ran the cables down the wall (instead of in it) and on top of the floor (instead of under it) and covered with Safcord cord cover. Works pretty well. 5
