Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work with cat 5 transmitter?

A: Yes, the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 3G (with Power Supply) could send an HDMI signal to an HDMI to Ethernet transmitter as long as the supported SDI and HDMI rates and resolutions match your selected Ethernet transmitter.

Q: 2. I have a DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K in my computer, and I use the HDMI output to monitor on a BenQ PV270 monitor and would like to use the micro converter 3G to convert the SDI output from the Decklink card into the HDMI input on a UHD TV. Would this converter work for that?

A: The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 3G will only support 2K resolutions or lower, so if you are looking to output in a UHD format you would need a higher resolution converter, such as the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 12G with Power Supply (B&H # BLMCSH12GPSU).

Q: 3. Will this work with the Ninja V using Hollyland Cosmo C1 to Sumo 19 SE Monitor?

A: It would be possible to use the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter HDMI to SDI 3G (with Power Supply) to take an HDMI signal from a Atomos Ninja V to input into the Hollyland Cosmo C1 However, the Hollyland Cosmo C1 can cross convert HDMI signals from the transmitter to output via SDI on the receiver.

Q: 4. Can i use both outputs (SDI & HDMI) at the same time with 1 input?

A: Yes, the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G with Power Supply is capable of sending an SDI and HDMI signal at the same time with one input.

Q: 5. When outputting 1080p HDMI to SDI, can the HDMI cable be longer than 3 feet if it's a higher quality cable?

A: Standard HDMI cable lengths can be 5 meters depending on cable. Optical fiber HDMI cables can be longer. If there is a micro HDMI connection then it may need to be short.

Q: 6. Does this unit support HDR10 static and Dolby Vision dynamic metadata?

A: Unfortunately no.

Q: 7. Can you use this to take an output feed from a Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini SDI 12G Distribution and use the hdmi to send it to a monitor?

A: yes you can as long as the teranex mini is outputting a resolution/frame rate that is supported by the micro converter.

Q: 8. Is there a P-tap/D-tap power option for this? I see a few cables out there, but I don't know if any of them work.

A: You could use something like the regulated Kondor Blue D-Tap to USB-C Power Delivery Cable for Mirrorless Cameras to power the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G with Power Supply.

Q: 9. I have a CPU that outputs in HDMI, I then am taking it to a SDI input on a newtek 3play system. Will the conversion work HDMI to SDI?

A: No it will not. The Blackmagic Design Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 3G (with Power Supply) is the opposite of what you are looking to do. It takes a video signal from an SDI source and converts it to HDMI. You need a converter that will convert an HDMI source to SDI.

Q: 10. For the purposes of an external screen share, my Macbook has HDCP issues (black/flickering screen) that prevents me from plugging a USB-C to HDMI cable directly into my HDMI matrix. Currently, I am able to work around this issue by using a dedicated HDMI switch as an intermediary device. Could I use this instead in between my HDMI Matrix and macbook to convert the signal from hdmi to hdmi? Upstream from the HDMI martix is an Atem Mini Pro so I'm assuming that this Blackmagic device has a compatible video output. Thanks in advance!

A: Unfortunately, the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G will not solve your problem.

[10' / 3 m ] Used this for an in-wall install. Fits through a one inch conduit and is flexible. Strong socket grip. Comes in a thick reusable bag. Linked laptop to ceiling projector. Clean picture at a variety of resolutions.

[10' / 3 m ] I am surprised how this model in longer lengths is not used more often. It costs less than a HDMI to CAT to HDMI. Up to 25' it is always perfect. Definite degradation at 35' and beyond. My favorite part is how it rolls / unrolls so well!

[0.23 lb] Purchased this cable because of features and price, to replace an older, low quality cable connecting a Sony PS3 to a 60 Samsung LED television. The picture using the old cable was low quality with frequent jumps and skips when watching both DVD's and online content. This new cable eliminated this problem. I can think of no cons about this cable.

[1x HDMI Male] I used this cable mated with a 25 foot HDMI cable (made by Audtek) with a female-to-female HDMI coupler (made by QVS) and it worked with no issues. The application was a DSLR camera in Live shoot mode (with clean HDMI output) to a video switcher with HDMI inputs. 35 length of cable to the camera position. Worked fine! One thing I'll add is not a negative but an observation about the photo. I was expecting the cable to be slightly thinner than the Pearson HDMI which is less pricey (I purchased both to keep one as a spare), they are more or less the exact same diameter. Note equivalent spec cable made by Pearson was tested with the DSLR camera and also worked fine (but didn't test with extension length and coupler). This Kramer HDMI cable should last years and years (and so will the Pearson); to me, the Kramer seems a little more "hardened" but can't speak to one or the other's long term reliability because I just got them.
