The black version of the Radio Design Labs DB-SH1 Stereo Headphone Amplifier - Decora Panel with User Level Control is used in applications requiring headphones of any impedance to be driven from consumer or professional audio sources. The DB-SH1 is ideally suited to applications as diverse as language translation, museums, interview studios and music stores.

The module mounts conveniently in a precut opening in a wood or metal enclosure or in various RDL mounting accessories. The DB-SH1 is a dual channel headphone amplifier with balanced/unbalanced left and right inputs. Each input accepts operating levels between -20 dBV and +20 dBu. Two recessed slide switches located on the side of the rear enclosure are set prior to mounting the module. One switch is provided for setting the input sensitivity. The mode switch selects between stereo and mono operation. In the mono position, the left input is used to drive both output channels. When the module is used in a monaural system, only the left channel input must be wired.

The front panel level control is a long life potentiometer controlling matched VCAs. Audio does not pass through this control, assuring years of noise free level adjustment. The output amplifiers deliver more than 50 mW into either high or low impedance headphones through a durable, metal ¼" (6.3 mm) standard headphone jack. Module operation is from a 24 VDC ground referenced power supply. It can also operate from a 12 VDC supply with a 6 dB reduction in headroom and a maximum output power of 10 mW.

A: I never tried that because I have a Harmon Kardon BTA-10 Bluetooth receiver that I also bought at BH Photo connected to one of the Aux inputs. It works great and has an amazing receive distance. I got no strings on me!

A: The fan is fairly quiet...it speeds up to cool down as needed depending on output of power being used.

A: Unfortunately, the Godox MF-DB Bracket for MF12 Flash does not allow vertical movement of the flash. It only moves horizontally.

A: An equalizer does not provide any amplification.

Q: 10. Does this work for both moving coil or moving magnet phonos?

A: Unfortunately the manufacturer does not specify which cartridges are recommended, however we would recommend this unit for use with MM cartridges for best results.

[+21 dBu ] I bought this item for a use slightly different than the manufacturer's intent - I gave to my boom operator as monitor. I fed him boom on one channel and the mix on the other so her could use the fade feature to select what he was hearing. The sound quality is really good, the construction is durable and the size is convenient. We powered the unit with a 9v battery and it lasted nearly two 12-hour days. That's impressive. 5

[18.5 dB ] Best solution for boardroom projectors. Nice and powerful given the footprint. Good full range sound. Has an imbedded condenser that causes a little hiss, back off the gains and increase volume with the source equipment. 5

[0.5 lb] I bought this system as a gift for someone but haven't actually used it yet, although it seems really well built and designed, like most Presonus products. What I'm most impressed with however is B&H getting it to me the day before Christmas when I only ordered it the day before. Hard to believe they actually got it done... I'll continue to buy from both B&H and Presonus. 5

[< -70 dB ] Very sturdy box and belt clip. Knobs have a nice feel and comfortable resistance to them. Lasts over 10 hours on one battery. Stereo mini XLR to two female XLR Y-cable makes it MUCH lighter on the hip. (Competition has two XLR inputs (L/R) makes this heavy on the belt due to the pull of two cables.) Costs more than P1 but, when you consider PreSonus includes the the power supply and XLR, you wind up spending the same. I have three in my studio. Adding more soon. 5
