The silver DS-TPS8A Active Two-Pair Sender from RDL is a two-pair audio sending module compatible with RDL Format-A twisted pair products. It is constructed of stainless steel to coordinate with RDL Decora-style stainless steel remote controls in commercial/industrial installations.

The DS-TPS8A module features a stereo mini-jack input on the front panel. The input is designed to receive standard -10 dBV consumer-level signals from sources such as a computer or personal media player. The input signals are amplified using studio-quality preamplifiers optimized for normal operating levels. The buffered left and right inputs are routed to output cable pairs B and C.

This module drives only two cable pairs and therefore it accepts signals and power from one mic-level or line-level Format-A single-pair sender. One single-pair sender may be chained with the module. A single-pair sender must be set to feed pair A if it is connected together with the DS-TPS8A Sender.

The DS-TPS8A module has a Format-A input on the rear panel. This RJ45 input receives left and right signals from preceding senders and sums them together with the local mini-jack input. This allows multiple DS-TPS8A modules to be connected in series with all the mini-jack inputs remaining active.

The DS-TPS8A Sender is remotely powered through the twisted pair cable from any other module, signal distributor, or RDL power inserter connected to the same twisted pair cable. There are no illuminated indicators that could be distracting in dark locations, such as a hotel room. The unit features automatic fused power, hum rejection, low noise, and low distortion for designers and installers looking to work with twisted pair products.

This sender can be mounted in the WB-1U Wall Box (or equivalent) or enclosures (SMB-1W / DC-1W) that allow users to connect audio sources. Users can also mount the sender in a custom-cut cabinet. This sender is intended to be used with standard DECORA cover plates such as CP-1 to -4.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this cable work for zoom f6 timecode with track e?

A: Yes, the Tentacle Sync Tentacle to DSLR 3.5mm Mini-Jack Cable could be used to send timecode signal between the Tentacle Sync TRACK E and the Zoom F6 Multitrack Field Recorder.

Q: 2. do you need an FCC license for this radio ?

A: Yes, an FCC license is required to use GMRS radios such as the Midland X-Talker T290VP4 Two-Way Communication Radio.

Q: 3. Can this work with Tascam 10L mic or any Pyle MEMS 10 over Ear Mic Headset

A: Yes, the Tentacle Sync Lockable 3.5mm Mini Jack for TRACK E can be used for a Tascam DR10L Microphone as well as any other microphone that requires a balanced cable.

Q: 4. Will it send plugin power through? This would enable the use of Rode Videomic.

A: It will not send plugin power to a microphone that operates off of plugin power.

Q: 5. Does this work for both moving coil or moving magnet phonos?

A: Unfortunately the manufacturer does not specify which cartridges are recommended, however we would recommend this unit for use with MM cartridges for best results.

Q: 6. Does this come with a power adapter?

A: No

Q: 7. Will this adapter work as an audio INPUT from the headphone jack of an external audio device to the Lightning INPUT of an iPad/iphone?

A: Yes, you can use the Lightning port on an iPhone as an audio input. If you are connecting from a 3.5mm headphone output, you can use a cable like Rode's SC7 (B&H # ROSC7) which has a male 3.5mm TRS connector on one side and a male 3.5mm TRRS connector on the other side. The female end on the Apple Lightning adapter is 3.5mm TRRS so you connect the SC7 cable to the Apple adapter and then connect the Apple adapter to your iPhone. If you already have a 3.5mm aux cable, then you can use Rode's SC4 adapter (B&H # ROSC4) which has a female 3.5mm TRS connector on one side and male 3.5mm TRRS end on the other side. Both setups achieve the same results.

Q: 8. Do these connectors fit the OP/TECH Pro strap?

A: The Op/Tech Pro strap uses the System Connectors 3/8 : http://bhpho.to/1w5ktjM

Q: 9. I hear a loud buzzing noise in my Sony lavalier mics with this mixer. The mics are on two different frequencies. Not sure why this is happening? Please help!

A: It would be helpful to know whether you are using two wireless systems and connecting the output from each receiver to the mixer or if you are trying to connect each lavalier microphone directly to the inputs on the mixer. The mics will not work without mic preamps and plug-in power which this mixer does not provide. Please contact us directly either through live chat on the website or by phone at 800-606-6969 or 212-444-6615 so we can help you to troubleshoot.

Q: 10. This is for connecting my pocket wizard to my Profoto light. I usually use the PocketWizard MM1 Flash Sync Cable Mono Miniphone to Mono Miniphone but they are back-ordered. Will these work?

A: This Tentacle Sync Tentacle to DSLR 3.5mm Mini-Jack Cable (Right Angle 12") BH #TEC07 is a stereo TRS cable and is not electrically configured like a mono TS cable would be. Here is a 16" flash sync cord cable: Nisha Miniphone 1/8" (3.5mm) Male to Miniphone 1/8" (3.5mm) Male Sync Cord (16") B&H # NIFSC163535 MFR # FSC163535

[RJ45] Not a mixer but if you have fairly balanced mics it is a cheap blender/ splitter. The item did as advertised, important to use identical mic's and crank up the volume. It's a simple fix for several AV/LiveSound issues. If you're running a Mono system, this lets you use a single channel for a stereo device (2 actually). tape/CD decks, computers, iPods, handheld recorders typically have RCAs, and those cables are always handy. I prefer an RCA to 1/4 inch, but they're not always at arms reach, and it doesn't solve the stereo/mono issue. It also let's you put 2 devices on a single channel if you have a smaller board. Lastly, many boards have RCA inputs for CD/Tape/Computer, but they don't let you EQ them or assign them to sub buses. It's just a convenient device to have around, especially for smaller boards and when you don't need stereo (like in a general PA setup).

[RJ45] Bought these to have better stereo sound than my very small portable Ultimate Ears bluetooth speaker, which I primarily use while traveling but lately also around the house. Set these up in my living room and really enjoy the sound they put out. Very musical and enjoyable, even while streaming non-Audiophile quality Spotify Free. Two thumbs up for great sound quality and connectivity at an affordable price. Just plug them into a wall outlet and you're off!

[RJ45] I needed to join the right and left channels out of my PA mix board so I can have the same material coming out of the right and left power amp. I use the board for recording, and in order to send individual channels to the I/O box, I have to pan each input channel left or right for the appropriate buss. If I'm playing live as well as recording, I'd end up with someone coming out of only one channel. This box enabled me to combine the 2 mix board channels out, and then I utilized a simple cannon "Y" cable out of this box to connect the left and right inputs to the power amp. It sounds better than I thought it would.
