Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work combining the Right and Left output into single mono output by using a Y-cable?

A: Yes, it does. I use it with GarageBand and both microphones are being used. I am a hypnotherapist and needed two mins to record both my client and myself and it works perfectly. Hope this helps.

Q: 2. What’s the difference with the mini stagebox 16i and the 16r ?

A: The 16i has a single built in MADI connection. The 16R allows for replaceable option cards to be used in the stagebox.

Q: 3. Do you need to purchase an interface card to connect to Expression 2 or 3?

A: In order to use the Soundcraft Mini Stagebox 32 for Soundcraft Mixer Consoles with the Soundcraft Si Expression 2 or 3 Digital Mixers, you will need to have a Soundcraft MADI card fitted to the option card slot such as the Soundcraft Single-Mode Optical MADI I/O Card for Si Series Consoles (B&H # SO5019983V) or the Soundcraft MADI-USB Combo Option Card for Si Series Consoles (B&H # SOMADIUSBCMB).

Q: 4. Can this provide phantom power for microphones?

A: Phantom power would come from the mixer, not the stage box.

Q: 5. Is CD recording is the same as burning a CD?

A: In a traditional sense, burning a CD refers to the process of transferring file information stored on a drive onto a CD disk. CD recording, as a function of the Tascam SS-CDR250N Two-Channel Networking CD and Media Recorder, refers to writing information to a CD from an external input source connected to the Tascam.

Q: 6. What are the dimensions of this unit?

A: It is 4.6" wide x 4.7" deep x 1.75" high.

Q: 7. Can you connect a Midas DL152 to DL151 to make a digital snake?

A: Unfortunately you cannot daisy chain the Midas DL15x series of I O boxes. The DL15x is intended to be directly connected to the Midas DL371 via the AES50 ports. The DL16 and DL32 IO boxes can be daisy-chained when used with the Midas M32 or Behringer X32 consoles. I have attached these various products for clarification purposes. All of which can be found on the B&H website.

Q: 8. does this include the console maid card?

A: The Mini Stagebox 16 will ship with an Si series compatible MADI card. Vi series console cards are available separately.

Q: 9. I use midas m32 mixer and dl32 stage box, i can use klark teknik dn9620 on fiber cable? klark teknik dn9620 have Rx and Tx? I buy one order have1 pair ithe box?

A: That is correct, you would need another Klark Teknik DN9620 or a device that has an opticalCON port. This is illustrated on page 07 of the manual for the Klark Teknik DN9620. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/794460/Klark-Teknik-Dn9620.html?page=7#manual

Q: 10. Can one use this simply as a stereo mic amplifier with a 9v battery and no USB connection?

A: The ART USB Dual Pre can operate as a standalone mic preamp using 9V battery or AC power.

[48 or 96 kHz] We recently installed this in our church as one of several upgrades in order to create a hybrid system in an old church to have some of the qualities of a digital system.

[48 or 96 kHz] For a case made in China, this is still a really good quality build. While it's made for the Midas M32R, I purchased it for the Allen & Heath SQ-5 (it's a nicer board than the M32R for a whole host of reasons) because I wanted a foam lined case, not a hard rack rail and I haven't been able to find any other manufacturer making the case to accommodate the SQ-5. This case will do it with a little work, which is what I expected. Remember to save your Allen & Heath packing foam, then see my attached photo for details on how to make a SQ-5 fit nicely into this unit. Perhaps ProX will make an SQ-5 case as soon as that mixer gains popularity. Until then, my modification is really nice. (Note: out of the box, this ProX case looks like it will fit the M32R without any modifications.)

[19.5 lb] This is the second mini stage box I have purchased (the first was the 32 channel installed at our church). We are a church plant who sets up and tears down every week. The mini stage box makes that process extremely simple and easy to use for brand new volunteers. All our gear is mounted into two racks (one front of house, the other sits on the stage). We simply pull one Cat5 cable between the two boxes, run xlr cables to powered speakers and we are ready to play. The the inputs/outputs are easy to program on an Si Expression board (or any other Soundcraft board). I would highly recommend this product. To purchase a high quality traditional snake, we would spend at least $700. So, the $1,000 price tag isn't too bad.

[19.5 lb] This thing is well worth the price, as we use a separate computer to mix our broadcast audio through a DAW. This thing allows us to have that computer in our broadcast studio with no loss of audio quality! Much better than running 100ft of USB, if it would even send anything at that range.

[19.5 lb] Metric Halo is a bit of a niche, but it's well worth investing in. The preamps and conversion are so dead clean I don't think about anything other than microphones and placement; they are right on par with Merging Technologies' hardware at a much more approachable price point. The expandability to the EdgeCard slot is both part of their trademark future-proofing philosophy and also just really flexible to have in an interface. I have one unit fitted with a MADI card, and the other with ADAT so my options to combine with other interfaces is huge (right now I'm also using RME, which is secondary in preamp and A/D/A quality, in my opinion, to these boxes). Combining the two interfaces with the proprietary MHLink is a breeze for lightning fast setups, though I would like to see compatibility with a more universal network audio format like Dante or AES67. And as icing on the cake, these boxes are capable of becoming full digital consoles, so in the rare event that I have to run live sound, I can hook up some faders to my laptop and route things in MiOConsole to become a fully functional console as well as a rock solid recording interface.

[48 or 96 kHz] Great product used with Midas M32 and Behringer X32C. Plug and play, sound quality is excellent, even compared to the M32 preamps

[48 or 96 kHz] Perfect for the M32R! It has plenty of handles to get the right grip when moving it around!
