The FotodioX 100x133mm Soft-Edge Graduated Tobacco/Sepia Filteris a filter designed for use with the Cokin Z-Pro series or FotodioX Pro 100mm filter holder systems. It can be used to add a tobacco and sepia tint to complement an existing sunrise or sunset within a scene, or to otherwise enhance a hazy or colorless sky. When used to enhance the sky within an image, the desired effect can be applied only to the sky, without any unwanted changes to any other part of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. This filter has up to a 0.6 density and reduces light from entering a lens by up to two stops.

This filter is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 1.6mm thick. A plastic sleeve is also included with the filter.

Q: 5. How long does the batteries last at full power? I would like "real-world" replies. Thanks :)

A: The batteries will last 2 hours at full power.

Q: 6. Regarding the output of the light, how bright is it at its highest setting? For example, it is comparable to a 500w light, 650w, 1000w, etc. in terms of how bright it can get

A: Wow, one guy says 65 watt equivalent, another guy says 650 watt equivalent. What a difference! Here is the definitive answer: An old-school 750 watt Lowel Tota tungsten light puts out 2,700 lux at 3.3'. This light puts out between 778 and 865 lux at 3.3' (depending on your color; 5600K mode is brighter than 3200K mode). That's ~30% as much light as the Lowel Tota or the equivalent of a 220-240 watt tungsten light.

Q: 7. How many LEDs is in this?

A: Fotodiox does not list the number of leds but please note this light uses leds that are reflective in that they come in from the side. They will have less than the front facing type.

Q: 8. Is there a compatible grid/softbox accessory to narrow the beam angle to limit spill?

A: Unfortunately, there are no compatible grids or softboxes for this particular LED light.

Q: 9. Can the C-308AS be run off AC power only after the batteries have run out of power?

A: Yes, you can run the lights on AC or on Battery. So, if the batteries run out you can switch to the included AC adapter.

Q: 10. According to the spec, this light power is very weak in daylight. It's as weak as a $20 light. Am I right?

A: We find this Pro FlapJack LED Wand to have great brightness for most applications, including video.

[0.1 lb] Even though these filters are available in photoshop, I still prefer to use the filters when composing the image to expose as perfectly as possible all the details in a scene when light is unbalanced.

[Rigid Plastic] The Nikon 14-24mm WA lens is extremely sharp, but I do use polarizers and split ND filters. Thankfully, FotoDioX came out with a filter system for the lens. The Grad ND filter is one of several available and they work very well. I have to say that the lens itself requires large filters and holder, and that does add bulk to your shooting kit. Nontheless, for the landscape work I do, they are essential if I want to use this extremely fine lens with filters.

[Rigid Plastic] Like other reviewrs I have a Nikon 14-24mm f2.8G and the Fotodiox WonderPana Kit. The filter itself appears to be well made, comes in a nice protective case and it slides smoothly in the bracket. I haven't yet used the filter so I can't if it is truely neutral in color cast but many of the best ND's aren't totally neutral. I expect this filter will work very well when I need it.

[Rigid Plastic] Tobacco filters can give a neat effect to an otherwise ho-hum sky. They are also useful in shooting sunsets.
