The FotodioX 130x173mm Soft-Edge Graduated Blue Sky Filteris a filter designed for use with the Cokin X-Pro series or FotodioX Pro 130mm filter holder systems. It can be used to add blue to a hazy or colorless sky. When used instead of a polarizer filter to enhance the sky within an image, the desired effect can be applied only to the sky, without any unwanted polarization or additional contrast to any part of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas. This filter has up to a 0.6 density and reduces light from entering a lens by up to two stops.

This filter is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 2.9mm thick. A plastic sleeve is also included with the filter.

Q: 1. Can the C-308AS be run off AC power only after the batteries have run out of power?

A: Yes, you can run the lights on AC or on Battery. So, if the batteries run out you can switch to the included AC adapter.

Q: 2. What's the weight of the light with batteries when you're holding it? Thanks!

A: The weight of the FotodioX Pro FlapJack LED Wand C-308AS Bi-Color Edge Light is 6.94 lbs, while the weight of the NP-F740 batteries together would be approximately 0.9 lbs. As such, the weight of the FotodioX Pro FlapJack LED Wand with the batteries would be approximately 7.94 lbs.

Q: 3. How many LEDs is in this?

A: Fotodiox does not list the number of leds but please note this light uses leds that are reflective in that they come in from the side. They will have less than the front facing type.

Q: 4. Regarding the output of the light, how bright is it at its highest setting? For example, it is comparable to a 500w light, 650w, 1000w, etc. in terms of how bright it can get

A: Wow, one guy says 65 watt equivalent, another guy says 650 watt equivalent. What a difference! Here is the definitive answer: An old-school 750 watt Lowel Tota tungsten light puts out 2,700 lux at 3.3'. This light puts out between 778 and 865 lux at 3.3' (depending on your color; 5600K mode is brighter than 3200K mode). That's ~30% as much light as the Lowel Tota or the equivalent of a 220-240 watt tungsten light.

Q: 5. How long does the battery charge last when light is on full power?

A: At 100% power the light can run for approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. At 50% power, its about six hours. This applies to the included NP-740 style batteries

Q: 10. would this 18" honeycomb grid work for this light? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1366478-REG/fotodiox_led_fctrj18_grid_honeycomb_grid_for_factor.html/specs

A: Grids are not universal and need to be from the same manufacturer for the same model.

[0.2 lb] Even though these filters are available in photoshop, I still prefer to use the filters when composing the image to expose as perfectly as possible all the details in a scene when light is unbalanced.

[0.2 lb] I take a lot of landscape pictures. Lately I have been taking ocean view pictures in the evening and had big contrast issues - bright sky and dark foreground. I had the camera checked out and everything was to spec. HDR mode and Software couldn't correct the problem so I tried the Tiffen Graduated ND filter which solved the problem perfectly. Pictures are much better balanced.

[0.2 lb] This is a big, heavy, tough filter. I think this will be the last ND filter I will ever buy. Kinda surprised how thick 4mm is. Wouldn't shock me if it was bullet proof. Glad I went with the glass filter, I had plastic filters ,they are cheap, but scratches too easily.

[Rigid Plastic] I use this filter for scenery photography, where part of the area to be photographed is over exposed. I can't image going in the field with this filter.

[0.2 lb] The Nikon 14-24mm WA lens is extremely sharp, but I do use polarizers and split ND filters. Thankfully, FotoDioX came out with a filter system for the lens. The Grad ND filter is one of several available and they work very well. I have to say that the lens itself requires large filters and holder, and that does add bulk to your shooting kit. Nontheless, for the landscape work I do, they are essential if I want to use this extremely fine lens with filters.

[Rigid Plastic] Like other reviewrs I have a Nikon 14-24mm f2.8G and the Fotodiox WonderPana Kit. The filter itself appears to be well made, comes in a nice protective case and it slides smoothly in the bracket. I haven't yet used the filter so I can't if it is truely neutral in color cast but many of the best ND's aren't totally neutral. I expect this filter will work very well when I need it.
