It can be used to add an orange tint to complement an existing sunrise or sunset within a scene, or to otherwise enhance a hazy or colorless sky. When used to enhance the sky within an image, the desired effect can be applied only to the sky, without any unwanted changes to any other part of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged line of transition between the dense and clear areas.

This filter is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 2.9mm thick. A plastic sleeve is also included with the filter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What's the weight of the light with batteries when you're holding it? Thanks!

A: The weight of the FotodioX Pro FlapJack LED Wand C-308AS Bi-Color Edge Light is 6.94 lbs, while the weight of the NP-F740 batteries together would be approximately 0.9 lbs. As such, the weight of the FotodioX Pro FlapJack LED Wand with the batteries would be approximately 7.94 lbs.

Q: 2. Regarding the output of the light, how bright is it at its highest setting? For example, it is comparable to a 500w light, 650w, 1000w, etc. in terms of how bright it can get

A: Wow, one guy says 65 watt equivalent, another guy says 650 watt equivalent. What a difference! Here is the definitive answer: An old-school 750 watt Lowel Tota tungsten light puts out 2,700 lux at 3.3'. This light puts out between 778 and 865 lux at 3.3' (depending on your color; 5600K mode is brighter than 3200K mode). That's ~30% as much light as the Lowel Tota or the equivalent of a 220-240 watt tungsten light.

Q: 3. What is the Illuminance in lux? Many of these lights don't provide this information.

A: The intensity at 1m is: 3200k - 195lx 5600k - 230lx

Q: 4. Will format Hitech 4x6 filters work with this?

A: These items were purchased as a gift. I never used them.

Q: 5. Would it make sense to buy two of these? One for your key and the other for the fill? Or possible to flood the scene a bit with soft light?

A: I would start with one and depending on what youre shooting you can always add a second if required

Q: 6. How long does the batteries last at full power? I would like "real-world" replies. Thanks :)

A: The batteries will last 2 hours at full power.

Q: 7. How long does the battery charge last when light is on full power?

A: At 100% power the light can run for approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes. At 50% power, its about six hours. This applies to the included NP-740 style batteries

Q: 8. How many LEDs is in this?

A: Fotodiox does not list the number of leds but please note this light uses leds that are reflective in that they come in from the side. They will have less than the front facing type.

Q: 9. Does this come with a mains power adapter?

A: Yes, It has mains lead/adapter in the box.

Q: 10. Whats is the max lumen output at full setting?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer only lists this light in terms of lux rating which is 865 lux at 5600K at 1m and 780 lux at 3200K at 1m.

[10.4 x 6 x 0.3"] I use this filter for scenery photography, where part of the area to be photographed is over exposed. I can't image going in the field with this filter.

[0.2 lb] The Nikon 14-24mm WA lens is extremely sharp, but I do use polarizers and split ND filters. Thankfully, FotoDioX came out with a filter system for the lens. The Grad ND filter is one of several available and they work very well. I have to say that the lens itself requires large filters and holder, and that does add bulk to your shooting kit. Nontheless, for the landscape work I do, they are essential if I want to use this extremely fine lens with filters.

[0.2 lb] Thank You for your excellent service. The ND filter arrived and was to be a gift, so use hasn't occurred yet. I just like B&H- rather than some of the other vendors. Sincerely, C.

[Rigid Plastic] A well-made filter. Note that 0.6ND is really light. Filtered area has a very slight warm tint.

[0.2 lb] I take a lot of landscape pictures. Lately I have been taking ocean view pictures in the evening and had big contrast issues - bright sky and dark foreground. I had the camera checked out and everything was to spec. HDR mode and Software couldn't correct the problem so I tried the Tiffen Graduated ND filter which solved the problem perfectly. Pictures are much better balanced.
