The ZTS MBT-1 Multi Battery Tester for Accurate Testingfrom ZTS MBT-1 Multi Battery Tester for Accurate Testingprovides you with a quick and efficient way to test over 40 types of batteries including NiMH, Li-Ion, alkaline, lithium, coin cell, button type and more. Without having to throw switches or push buttons, you simply place your battery on the appropriate space on the tester. Then, by touching the battery with the included probe, the machine's microprocessor shows you the percentage of remaining capacity on the LED display bar.

The battery contacts are labeled so you always know where to place your battery. When not in use, the tester's probe stores in the side seam of the tester. The unit is surrounded by a rubber sleeve that is easy to grip and also protects it from incidental contact. The tester runs on four "AA" batteries (sold separately).

I shot with this charger for a full day in studio, and by the end of the day it said battery exhausted - that was with four batteries and the dummy battery plugged into the camera and the ac adapter plugged into a working outlet - shouldn't this in theory be left on for days and power the camera?

A: yeah, it is my understanding that it is not capable of charging while you are using the adapter, ie. it can't really be used as AC adapter. As always, depending on how intensively you are shooting. Full day does sound good, depends on usage.

[0.85 lb] This multi battery tester is expensive but is very useful to triage good, not so good and bad batteries by their actual capacity. It still works after 3 1/2 years, The only complain it drains AA batteries within 2-3 months, so I eventually started to remove batteries and inserting them only before testing (the batteries must be fresh to avoid misleading results). 5

[0.85 lb] I had one like it now for several years, but unfortunately I spilled a cup of coffee on it and the electronics quickly became toast. I use it a lot because I am running many trail cameras and each take 12 AA Li batteries. The MBT-1 helped in sorting out the good used batteries from those that were 100% expended. The B&H Photo pricing was the best that I came across so I bought another unit. Service was very quick, shipping was fast and I did not skip a beat with the trail cameras. 5

[0.85 lb] Excellent product, the best way to test batteries or cells is under load. This is what his device does very well. Very often when I go to find a battery for a device and it does not function, I cannot tell if the device is bad or the battery. This device corrects that problem. Very Happy with this device. [0.85 lb] I purchased this because my former battery tester was not providing great results. After talking to my electrical engineer friend, he recommended this unit, especially because it does a load test, which provides a more realistic result of the battery's capability. It tests a variety of battery formats and is easy to use. I am really happy with this tester. 5
