The ProMediaGear Bracket Plate Canon EOS 5D Mark IIIis an Arca-type compatible quick release plate that can accept ProMediaGear's optional flash or L brackets. It mounts to the camera using a standard 1/4"-20 male screw and features two 1/4"-20 threaded holes for additional plates or equipment. Once attached, the snug fit of the plate ensures it will not accidentally slip or rotate during use.

A: Yes on the bottom of the bracket there is a 1/4 20 female thread.

A: No

Q: 3. Is it compatible with Manfrotto Befree Advanced Travel Aluminum Tripod with 494 Ball Head?

A: This bracket is compatible with Arca-type QR clamps; the QR clamp on the Befree Advanced Travel tripod does not have an Arca-type clamp, so they are not compatible.

Q: 4. What is the lifespan of these LP-E6 and LP-E6N batteries?

A: The lifespan would depend on usage and the particular camera.

Q: 5. Will the grip fit the new Canon 5DS and 5DS R cameras?

A: Yes, it fits. I have one on my 5Ds

Q: 6. Is there a place on the bottom of the grip to attach a camera strap without having to use the tripod mount? The Vello grip has one but did not know if the Canon one did.

A: There is an open and recessed slot with a bar through it - the manual says it is for a hand strap. No there isn't a place for a camera strap to attach.

Q: 7. Can you access the battery latch/compartment with it on?

A: Yes - battery compartment is fully accessible. As are the accessory ports on the side.

Q: 8. If the surface finish black anodize or black paint? Or powder coat?

A: The L Bracket appears to be anodized. I also own a Really Right Stuff L Bracket for my Canon 5D and purchased the Sunwayfoto bracket for my Canon Mark III. I am as pleased with the quality of the Sunwayfoto as with the Really Right Stuff L Bracket and at half the price! Hope this helps

Q: 9. What is an ARCA-type platform I keep seeing this in the responses. I have a Manfrotto 488RC4 ball head but there are no markings about it being an ARCA-type. How do you tell?

A: ARCA is a universal type plate, well except for Manfrotto. Check out the ARCA-Swiss products to get a better idea of what they look like. In order to use my new L Bracket with the ARCA type plate I had to use a different brand ballhead, since my Manfrotto does not use the ARCA type plate.

A: No. They are camera specific.

[0.2 lb] Super happy with this purchase! Seems to be very well constructed & fits very well on my 5D Mark III. One thing I would like would be that the slit in the screw was a little bit wider so I can use my washer on my keychain. My washer fits all my other tripod screws from other manufacturers, but this one is a little tight and just barely catches a grip. I may file it down or replace it with wider slit screw in the future. 5

[Arca-Type] I use the product as designed. As a way of being able to flip from horizontal to vertical without modifing the tripod's head position. This unit is about 1/2 the price of the other unit that does exactly the same thing. WHY PAY MORE?--unless you just want the name. The only thing that is important to me in a device like this is functionality. For that it gets an A. The machining and finish are perfectly adequate! :) 5

[Aluminum] I actually started with a 3-Legged Thing, but found it obstructed a cable when attached. I returned with absolutely no hassle at all and replaced it with the recommended Sunwayfoto bracket. So far it appears to be just fine. Also ordered/received one for my Mk IV as well. While I'd love to purchase a RRS bracket I just can't swing the cost right now. Perhaps somewhere in the future. For now, the Sunwayfoto brackets work well on both my Mk III and Mk IV. I found that I had to attach the Manfrotto QR plate to the bottom to get it to fit the tripod head. The bottom of hte L-bracket just would not fit in the Manfrotto tripod head. The side bracket fits just fine. 5

[Arca-Type] The build quality is as good for its use as any of the competitors models out there. I actually think Sunwayfoto has taken it one step further and has offset the vertical arm from the camera body to allow a timer cable to be fitted on with the L-Plate on a tripod. Some others charge extra for a spacer. Very happy. 5
