This black FotodioX Pro Thumb Grip for Compact Cameras - Type-B Blackfrom FotodioX Pro Thumb Grip for Compact Cameras - Type-B Blackis compatible with most compact cameras featuring a standard universal hot shoe mount, including mirrorless, point-and-shoot and bridge-type models. A: It's just a holder but that means it will hold a level, mic, etc. It just won't provide any power or communication with the camera. (It also gives you somewhere to put your hot shoe cover so you won't lose it.)

A: The FotodioX Pro Thumb Grip for Select Compact Digital Cameras - Type-B (Black) is design for rangfinder style cameras. Nikon Df DSLR Camera and Nikon FM2 analog cameras have a triangle prism shape under the hot shoe, therefore the thumb grip will not fit properly.

Q: 4. Is the brass thumb support solid brass, or is it a brass finish applied to another type of metal?

A: This thumb support is solid brass. The silver and black versions are anodized aluminum.

Q: 5. Is there a thumb grip made that is suitable for a lumix GH5 ? (I've searched, but to no avail )

A: At this time I do not see any shutter grips like the FotodioX Pro Thumb Grip for Mirrorless Digital Cameras (Type-A, Black) that work with the GH5.

A: It's not for everyone I don't imagine. It is for comfort really. It enables you to position your thumb near the control wheel and is designed to allow for easier handling and a more secure hold, while maintaining access to all camera functions.

Q: 7. Anyone know if a SmallRig cage will fit with this thumb grip installed?

A: When using the The SmallRig cage for the A6000 camera, the space above the hot shoe is too small to use the FotodioX Pro Thumb Grip Type-E.

Q: 8. Will this work on a LUMIX GX7?

A: I use it on an X-Pro and it's fine, but the popup flash looks as though it might be a problem on a GX7

A: The FotodioX Pro Thumb Grip for Mirrorless Digital Cameras (Type-A, Black) would not be suitable for a Panasonic Lumix GH5.

[Aluminum] I did not realize that there was a difference in the size (height) of hot shoes. It slid into the X100 as if it was made for it. The hot shoe of my Leica M6 TTL was not tall enough to slide it in. The fit and finish of the grip is very very good. If you were to compare the size of this to a known brand for thumb grips, it would be equal to their long version on the X100. 5

[0.045 lb] Really helps me get a much stronger grip on my X100T without covering up the screen. Nice on my X-T4 too, but a little less aesthetically pleasing. 5

[0.045 lb] The FotodioX pro thumb grip fits like a glove on my fuji x100s, very happy B&H has it in stock cause the one from Fuji is way to expensive. 5

[0.045 lb] I purchased this for use with a Canon EOS-M because the EOS-M is tiny, and holding it securely with one hand is not so easy while also trying to avoid touching buttons or the touch-sensitive screen.The thumb grip fit the bill perfectly for me. It is very secure -- almost too secure -- in the flash hotshoe, there was no wiggle, and it felt very secure to use.The only down side, for me, is that of course the thumb grip prevents the use of a hotshoe flash. For many small cameras this isn't an issue since the flash is built in, and the hotshoe is not necessary. However, given how tight the grip is, removing it every time I want to use a flash on the EOS-M (since it has no flash), would become a pain.While I do give this product 5 stars, as it does exactly what it is advertised to do, I chose to go with the Fotodiox grip for the EOS-M. I recommend that over the thumb grip if you have the EOS-M. Otherwise, don't hesitate to spend the $ to buy this. 5
