Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do I necessarily need to develop either 3 35mm rolls or 2 120 rolls to use it or can I develop just 2 35mm rolls?

A: You can certainly develop anywhere from 1-3 rolls without any issue.

Q: 2. How many millilitres does it take to fill the Multi-Reel 8 Tank?

A: The standard rule of thumb is 10 oz (300 ml) for each 35 mm plastic reel, or 2400 ml or 80 oz. It's a good idea to add a little more chemistry than that. Even if you have 7 rolls of film, you must add the 8th reel and the chemistry to reflect 8 reels to make sure no light leaks in the gap.Or, you may use 5 rolls of 120 film to fill this tank. Each reel requires 500 ml (17 oz), for 5 rolls 2.5 liters (85 oz). Any other combination of 120 and 35: before loading, stack your reels and make sure the funnel locks in place. If too high, the funnel won't lock in place. Don't do it. You won't have a tight seal and you will leak light and fog your film, or worse.

Q: 3. will this tank also take a second 35mm reel?

A: This tank can only hold one reel. To use two reels, you need the Paterson Universal Tank with Two Reels (Super System 4), B&H # PAUT2R

Q: 4. is this light tight without the rubberized cover? i.e. just the funnel thing in place.

A: Yes, it's light tight as long as you have the funnel set in correctly and twisted until it snaps in place.

Q: 5. I know it says that this (Paterson 35mm) tank will take a single 35mm but will it also take a single 120?

A: No.If you want to develop for 120 film, check the Paterson Universal Tank with Two Reels (Super System 4) On that one you can adjust the reel height to accomodate the 120 film.

Q: 6. Is the lid leaking when the tank is inverted? Thank you!

A: No it does not.I use mine for Semi Stand development. So a minimal amount of inversions. You might want to ask someone who processes the way you would want to use it.Hope this helps.

Q: 7. where does b & h offer reels to accommodate this purchase, since it does not come with reels?

A: Here is the reels you need for the developing tank. You can get 2 reels for 120 film or 3 for 35mm to fill the tank. The reels are expandable so they can accommodate both film types.

Q: 8. Does this reel come with the handle and crank? Description says they're optional, but I don't see them listed under the accessories.

A: As you see it, it comes with the tall, non-folding top handle and that direct crank handle. However, if you need to save space, you can order an optional, folding top handle and an optional, removable crank handle.

Q: 9. Is it necessary to fill up the whole tank with chemicals even if you're developing only 1 or 2 rolls ? I understand that empty reels should still be stacked up to prevent the loaded reel to move too much but still need to be sure if the less than full tank affects developing in a bad way ?

A: No it's not, below the tank you can find the specific volume for each number or reels either 120 or 35mm, just make sure as you said the empty reels are stacked above to prevent it does not get chemicals.

Q: 10. Can you use two MOD54's in this tank?

A: Yes, you could fit two MOD54s in the Multi Reel 8 tank.

[8x LC] We have been using four TFS DuraTAC fiber reels for outdoor events over the past three years without any issues. Cable diameter is slightly less than competitive cables but they are more durable because they are reinforced with stainless steel armored tubing. Highly recommended!

[8x LC] For Tactical fiber cables, these are ultra light weight, but they do take a beating! Great Cables!

[8x LC] I have a reel with just one channel on it, but found out it's cheaper to buy this cable and just remove the bracket from the LC side. Comes right out without cutting anything.
