Q: 1. Can I use this item as a real umbrella?

A: Definitley not.

Q: 2. Is this umbrella collapsible? (Does it close shut?) If it doesn't are there any umbrellas similiar to this one that do? I am looking for something that is at least semi-portable and storeable.

A: YES. It is just like any umbrella you would use for going out in the rain (except without a handle). Collapses and slides into a storage sleeve. Very compact. Slide the metal shaft into an umbrella holder and mount on a light stand. I have two of these. They are great and inexpensive. The cover comes off so you can shoot through the white umbrella with your flash or flip it around and then put the silver/black reflector cover on and use the umbrella to reflect your flash back to your subject for a little more light control. I can do large group shots with two of these. One on camera left and camera right. You will need a system to fire your flashes or strobes remotely.

Q: 3. Will the shaft fit an aputure 100D?

A: Yes, the shaft on this Impact Convertible Umbrella is 8mm thick, which will fit the umbrella slot on the Amaran 100d.

Q: 4. Can this be used with a Godox AD200 with a Godox S-Type Speedlite Bracket for Bowens?

A: Yes the Godox S-Type Speedlite Bracket for Bowens has an umbrella slot by which this umbrella can be used.

Q: 5. How do you remove the black backing?

A: You would pull the tips of the arms on the umbrella to remove the black backing.

Q: 6. Does this canvas require a varnish coat?

A: No, it does not require a varnish coat. I have printed many photos all without varnish and they look as good as the day they were printed a few years later. That said, you could varnish them (some yellow over time ...) to help protect against scuffs ...

Q: 7. The product overview says the black cover can be removed halfway, however the reviewer comments seem to imply the black cover can be removed completely. Can anybody please clarify?

A: The Black cover can be completely removed or partially. The black cover is removed with the umbrella completely folded. The protective cap is unscrewed so you can remove the cover.

Q: 8. Is it new easel? or pre-owned?

A: Beseler 16x20" Universal 4-Bladed Enlarging Easel is a new easel.

Q: 9. Is this a true 45" open umbrella? Some manufactures measure over the backside or rib length and it's misleading.

A: This is a true 45"umbrella.

Q: 10. Are these umbrellas made for 7mm holes or 8mm holes?

A: The shaft size is exactly 8mm verified with a caliper.
