The AKG WMS420 UHF Wireless Headworn Microphone Systemis designed for live sound reinforcement applications such as for public address, presentations, installations, and performances that require up to eight simultaneously operating systems over a 30 MHz bandwidth. This system consists of a PT420 Beltpack Wireless Microphone Transmitter, an SR420 UHF Stationary Wireless Receiver, two detachable RF antennas, an AC adapter for the receiver, a AA-size battery for the transmitter, and a C555 L headworn microphone.

The UHF receiver features two detachable antennas that enable connection to a wide range of professional RF accessories such as antenna splitters and remote mounted directional antennas for use with multi-channel systems. The front panel of the receiver features an on/off button, a rotary volume control, a button for selecting one of the available eight carrier frequencies within the system's range, an LCD display that shows the selected receiving channel, an RF OK LED to indicate the presence of a signal, and a CLIP LED to indicate when the audio level is too high.

The back panel of the receiver features a squelch control knob that will automatically mute the audio output if the strength of the radio transmission frequency becomes too weak. The back panel also features a DC IN port with strain relief for connecting the AC adapter, a balanced XLR-3F output for connecting to a live mixer, and an unbalanced 1/4" output for connecting to a guitar or instrument amplifier.

The beltpack wireless transmitter comes with a C555 L headworn microphone, but will also work with any of AKG's line of MicroMics. The beltpack features a noiseless on/off/mute switch, a gain control knob, and an LED indicator light. The transmitter is powered by a single AA battery which provides between six and eight hours of operating time with a range of approximately 30 meters. The transmitter also includes charging contacts for use with rechargeable batteries and AKG's CU400 rechargeable base station (sold separately).

Q: 1. Can I use this on a Zoom F2 and/or on a Røde Wireless PRO transmitter?

A: Although the Sony ECM-322BMP Professional Headworn Microphone uses a locking 3.5mm output, it is wired for Sony devices only. Sony uses a different wiring scheme than most other manufacturers, so this microphone (and other Sony lavaliers & headsets) will not be compatible with brands such as Zoom and Rode.

Q: 2. Hello,It is possible to use this mic on spectacle, theater, contest, show that the loudspeakers are relatively close and or should not have feedback (Larsen) ?

A: Hi there! The ECM-322 is a headset ONMNI mic, and an Omni mic cannot (by design) isolate sound sources in a specific direction. If it gets strong enough signal, it will deliver that to the speaker and feedback will result. Good speaker placement is also key in this equation. The more you can get the mic/talent OFF speaker axis (farther from directly in front) - the more HF will be attenuated naturally and the whole system will be less sensitive to feedback. A: A maximum of two wireless transmitters can be used with the wireless receiver included with the Movo Photo WMX-20-DUO 2-Person Camera-Mount Wireless Lavalier Microphone System.

Q: 7. I recently bought two sets of these microphones but only one set works. The other set works too but on the SAME FREQUENCY as the other. All microphone interfere with one another. I tried changing frequencies but it doesn't work. Please someone help?? how can i make all microphones work?

A: I have not tried to use 2 systems at the same time in the same venue so I don't have a good suggestion.

Q: 9. Can I use 2 of these systems on one camera and have 4 separate audio channels? If I plug one receiver in XLR 1 and the second receiver in XLR 2 can I separate all 4 channels of audio for 4 people in one camera?

A: Yes, you can use two WMX-20-DUO systems at the same time on the same camera, but you would have two audio tracks, not four. Each receiver outputs one signal with the combined audio from its two mics. Also, the camera only records two audio tracks, not four. If you do need to have four separate audio tracks, it would be best to use individual wireless systems for each person and capture the audio on a multi-track recorder. The audio and video can be synced in post production.

Q: 10. This works with sony UWP-D portable transmitter systems?

[13.2 oz (373 g)] This mic sounds better than my wired sm58. Much brighter and clearer. I don't move too far from the base so can't comment on distance but within 20 ft it's awesome. No feedback at all when moving in front of the FOH speakers. Only negative is the recessed on/mute/off switch is a little hard to push. Up side is you don't accidentally turn it off when singing. Great quality sound. 5

[1/2 RU] Not just one of the best headset mics I've used, one of the best mics period. It isn't omni-directional so feedback is almost non-existent. I have had children's pastors use it as a mic for singing and speaking. This thing is one of the clearest mics I have heard, it can cut through a band like what I thought only handheld mics can do. I also gave this to a senior pastor who also liked to sing at the end of his messages and compliments on his speaking and the end of services came from everyone. If you want a powerful mic, and you are done playing around with the little guys, its time to get this microphone. The ONLY downside is that if you have a really small head (has happened to me with two tiny women) this headset probably wont fit you and will be pretty loose. I just used some mole skin to tape it down on them and we didn't have any problems after that. 5

[2.78 lb] I've used a number of wireless systems. In this case, we considered adding another Audio Technica 3000 series, but went with AKG instead. I prefer the AKG for a couple of reasons: -The gain before feedback is better. -The display on the mic is easier to see. -For most voices - the AKG sounds a bit better. -Only needs one AA battery and lasts a long time. -Fairly easy infrared frequency setup. -The receiver display background color changes from green to orange when something critical happens, like signal clipping or a low battery. -We have experienced less RF interference with this AKG than some other types. -Digital (like Line 6) can sound better, but on rare occasion, I've had dropouts with digital. 5

[12 dB] The clarity this system provided was outstanding. Are use the system in a medium size conference hall that accommodate it 250 guest. The wireless system was located in an electrical room. There was no interference and I really was amazed by its clarity. 5

[12 dB] One of the concerns public speakers face is the quality of the A/V equipment. Can you hear me now? is not simply the Verizon slogan. If your lavalier microphone or headworn microphone is not properly placed, you may wonder if people can hear you. The HSP4 is a beautifully formed headworn microphone that is securely placed, eliminating one's concern with regard to whether or not the audience can hear you based on the microphone placement. If you can afford this microphone--it is a bit expensive--it is well-worth the money. What may be a detour, however, is the color of the microphone versus the color of one's skin. As an African-American, I knew the tan Sennheiser would not be suitable. My desire was to have the microphone blend in to my skin tone as much as possible. The black Sennheiser (HSP4) seemed to be my only option. It actually may stick out more than the tan. 5

I bought all four frequencies and plugged they receivers into a wireless mixer. The school loves this system, no wires and the sound quality and battery life is really good. I liked it so much I bought one for myself. 5
