The AKG WMS420 UHF Wireless Vocal Set Band A 530-559 MHzis designed for live sound reinforcement applications such as for public address, presentations, installations, and music performances that require up to eight simultaneously operating systems over a 30 MHz bandwidth. This system consists of an HT420 Handheld Dynamic Wireless Microphone Transmitter, an SR420 UHF Stationary Wireless Receiver, two detachable RF antennas, an AC adapter for the receiver, a microphone stand adapter, and a AA-size battery for the transmitter.

The UHF receiver features two detachable antennas that enable connection to a wide range of professional RF accessories such as antenna splitters and remote mounted directional antennas for use with multi-channel systems. The front panel of the receiver features an on/off button, a rotary volume control, a button for selecting one of the available eight carrier frequencies within the system's range, an LCD display that shows the selected receiving channel, an RF OK LED to indicate the presence of a signal, and a CLIP LED to indicate when the audio level is too high.

The back panel of the receiver features a squelch control knob that will automatically mute the audio output if the strength of the radio transmission frequency becomes too weak. The back panel also features a DC IN port with strain relief for connecting the AC adapter, a balanced XLR-3F output for connecting to a live mixer, and an unbalanced 1/4" output for connecting to an amplifier.

The handheld wireless microphone transmitter features a patented D5 dynamic capsule that is designed to reject audio feedback, a noiseless on/off/mute switch, a gain control knob, and an LED indicator light. The microphone is powered by a single AA battery which provides between six and eight hours of operating time with a range of approximately 30 meters. The transmitter also includes charging contacts for use with rechargeable batteries and AKG's CU400 rechargeable base station (sold separately).

[0.8% at 1 kHz] I have several of these wireless AKG Perception units (handheld, lapel and headset versions) and they all work superbly for my different needs. This is the first I have purchased from B&H and it is just like my others. B&H shipped the item very promptly and everything was as expected. The B&H price was better than my previous units, so I will return to B&H if I need any more. I'm very pleased with the AKG product and with B&H pricing and service. 5

[Manual] Used primarily for corporate work (training and events). Works well. Good price point that is easier to justify in corporate budgets than some others. I was involved in professional audio work for many years and I have used most of the prominent brands of wireless mics. Many times in staging presentations, if there is a problem it will be with the wireless mics (and these days maybe ethernet connectivity). Fairly robust, not a toy, but not overpriced either. Provides 8 selectable channels in UHF band. This will be more than adequate in may cases. We are not always in the same location, we take these out to various locations, and this has been reliable. 5

[Supercardioid] This mic sounds better than my wired sm58. Much brighter and clearer. I don't move too far from the base so can't comment on distance but within 20 ft it's awesome. No feedback at all when moving in front of the FOH speakers. Only negative is the recessed on/mute/off switch is a little hard to push. Up side is you don't accidentally turn it off when singing. Great quality sound. 5

[7.55 oz (214 g)] I purchased this microphone a month ago for my home Karaoke setup. I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality and sound of the mic. It has great wireless range and is easy to use. I also like the fact that is has balanced XRL outputs. Highly recommend. 5

[FM] Have used this mic a few times now in our church hall which seats about 350 people. We can walk to the other end of the hall around the bend and the mic still gets picked up with clear sound. Only thing to note is that when you initially turn the mic on, it takes a good 5 seconds before you can start speaking or singing into it. Good quality for the price. Very pleased with our purchase. 5
