Part of the ULX-D wireless series, the Shure ULX-D Wireless Microphone Kit with SM87A Capsuleshouses 2 independent digital receivers in a rugged, single-rack unit with an internal power supply. In Standard mode you can run up to 17 channels per 6 MHz TV channel, at a range up to 330'. Alternatively, the High-Density mode lets you run up to 47 channels per 6 MHz TV channel, at a maximum range of 98'. The system offers AES-256 encryption for security.

Each receiver module has its own audio and RF meters, 60 dB of gain control, and XLR output. A large LCD screen and intuitive controls let you quickly make adjustments, even in low-light situations. Additional features include automatic frequency scanning, IR sync, gain optimization to match any input source, and internal limiting to prevent clipping.

The Ethernet ports also allow multiple receivers to be easily networked together for simplified frequency coordination and deployment via Shure's Wireless Workbench software. In addition, the Channels Mobile App enables you to control the system remotely from an iOS device.

A: Mine measures 49 . FWIW, it's an excellent mic, has very, very good vocal presence and lends itself reasonably well to hiding in collars, inside shirts, etc. Just be aware that it picks up audio around the periphery of the mic head, not directly from the front (the front of the mic has no sound holes for lack of a more elegant term.)I just used this thing for the first time with an Azden Pro XD wireless setup, and it worked great - zero breath pops, no wind noise, minimal to no shirt/fabric noise when properly mounted. It's light years ahead of the mic that comes with the Azden setup.

Q: 4. Would you use these mics on a camera for field reference audio?

A: Yes, the Rode NT55 Compact Condenser Microphone with Interchangeable Capsules could be used on a camera with XLR inputs providing phantom power to capture reference audio. The cardioid capsule included with the NT55 is suggested as opposed to the omni capsule for this application, in order to capture an audio perspective reflective of what the camera is seeing.

A: It will not work in your computer. That is a TRRS cable made for phones. You can try turning it into a TRS with this cable B&H # ROSC3 available on our website.

A: Not directly. You would need to use this with an additional adapter to make it compatible with the Go, that adapter is B&H # ROSC3.

A: The Shure MOTIV MVL Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Smartphones has a TRRS connector for use with smartphones. It would not be compatible with a wireless transmitter such as the DJI Mic 2.

Q: 9. Will this work properly on portable recorders like the Zoom H1?

A: Two things: 1) You'll need a TSSR to TSR adapter such as the B&H # ROSC3. 2) You'll need to turn on plug-in power. I have the Zoom H6 Handy Recorder and the Shure MVL lavalier works great when plugged into the 3.5mm jack on the XY module with plug-in power turned on.
