Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I know I'm slow here ... but if an EF or EF-S lens is attached to a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera via this adapter, there will not be any way to control the aperture. Am I understanding this correctly? Thanks!

A: Yes, this is correct - there is no communication between the lens and camera body, and you will have to set your exposures manually.

Q: 2. Is this a focal reducer?

A: This adapter allows EF and EF-S lenses to work on a Micro 4/3 camera. Those lenses will be subject to a crop factor of 2X.

Q: 3. Will this control aperture from BMPCC and other M4/3 cameras?

A: The Viltrox EF-M1 Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF or EF-S to Micro Four Thirds Camera, will control aperture when used with a Micro Four Thirds cameras, including the Black magic Pocket Cinema Cameras.

Q: 4. Is it compatible with a panasonic gh4

A: The Vello EF/EF-S to micro four thirds adapter will allow you to mount Canon lenses on the GH4, yes.

Q: 5. I have Rokinon Cine DS Full Cine Lens Kit with EF mount. Will this adapter make my lenses crop used with the new BMCPC 4k that has a full size 4/3 sensor?

A: It is the size of the sensor that determines the crop from some other sensor size, not the lens. These lenses can be used with any sensor full frame or smaller. Since the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K has a MFT sensor, any lens will have a 2x crop from a full frame sensor.

Q: 6. will it improve crop factor?

A: The Tilting Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF Mount Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera will have no effect on crop factor.

Q: 7. - Does this produce any VIGNETTING (like the Vello adapter version with "Aperture control" ring) when using Full Frame Canon Lenses on Panasonic M4/3 camera? - Does it increase the Full Frame to M4/3 CROP Factor (which is calculated as 2x)? Thank you!

A: But I can't recommend it because you won't have any aperture control.

Q: 8. Will this work with the modern 'focus by wire' system in the new ef-s lenses focus ring? How does it work if they have to be powered thru the connections? I just need manual focus but this seems impossible.

A: NO, if you use lenses that have AF/MF "by wire" (meaning they need to be powered to actually move focus elements), like the Canon "STM" Lenses, then you will NOT be able to focus. However if you use lot of other lenses (Canon L and non-L versions) that have a Manual Focus ring which doesn't focus "by wire" you will have no problems at all to focus. It all depends on the Lens you mount on it. In fact there are LOT MORE lenses with Real Manual Focus Ring than "Focus by wire".

Q: 9. So with this adaptor I would be able to connect not just canon lenses, but any lens that has an EF/EF-S Mount onto my GH4? Besides it having no communication with the camera, and no aperture ring, why is this product so cheap?

A: This is correct- any EF/EF-S lens can be used with this adapter. The fabrication cost of this adapter is very low, and the manufacturer is able to offer this product at a very reasonable price to reflect this and make an affordable product for consumers wishing to use this type of adapter.

Q: 10. Will this adapter work with Canon EFS 18-135mm to MFT mount?

A: Yes, the Vello Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera Lens Adapter would allow you to connect the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses onto cameras that use the Micro Four Thirds lens mount. Do note there is no electronic communication between the camera and lens, so you would not be able to adjust the aperture of the lens or have autofocus, and EXIF data will not be sent from the lens to the camera.

[0.3 lb] This piece of kit snapped right in to place. I didn't have any of the issues noted in other reviews. Most of my lenses are fully manual (Rokinon primes) and I'm now satisfied that I can use them on my Panasonic GH4. Nice!

[0.3 lb] It fits properly, does the job. Not useful if you need electronic control.

[0.3 lb] I think this is great value. For the price I cannot complain. I was able to photograph hummingbirds with my canon 70-200 2.8. I wish I could also use in-body IS instead of lens IS only as it drains batteries, but then I'm not sure metabones even allows that. This is a great adapter and I highly recommend it!

[0.3 lb] I got this adapter to use my old Canon lenses with my new Panasonic G85. Works pretty good. The metal interface on the lens side fits perfectly. On the camera side there is a tiny rotational slop after it clicks into place, but I can't see how that would effect anything. Of course, there is no communication between lenses and camera - no image stabilization, autofocus or aperture control. But still a great bargain if you don't need your lens to talk to your camera.

[0.3 lb] I just got this adapter and was able to test it out the other day. The build quality is solid. It feels of quality and the macro ring turns smoothly. If you are in need of a non smart adapter and find yourself wanting to get closer shots or always carrying around a macro lens or macro extension tubes then this may be a great solution for you. This pretty much functions as a built in macro tube. When you rotate it from closer distances you can get a lot closer. Keep in mind that while using this function you will have to physically move your camera closer as well. This can work well for photographers but I will be using it for video as there are many times when we need to get a closer detail shot of something. This will help eliminate the need to bring extra macro extension tubes or it can work if you do not want to bring a macro lens along. For macro tubes I always recommend using approx 50mm full frame equivalent. The wider the lens the closer you can usually get but I find 50 mm a sweet spot that does not introduce too much distortion from being too close to the subject while still being able to get closer. This will not get you a 1:1 ratio so if you need true macro you may need an actual macro lens. For my video purposes I just need to get a little closer at times so this will be great for us.

[0.3 lb] For last 3 days I have been using this cheap and useful adapter. Now my Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera which I only recently bought from Singapore is able to mount Canon EF-S 10-22 mm and Canon EF-24-70mm f/2.8 lenses. It fits well and locks perfect. I am a filmmaker so it suits to me to operate my machine manually. It is easy. No hiccups. Where is the problem guys. Soon I am to mount my third Canon lens which happens to be 70-200mm. It's relief I can make use of all my Canon lenses which I had bought with Canon 60D. Devi Prasad Mishra

[0.3 lb] I had my Canon EF mount lenses. I wanted to use with my Panasonic Lumix GH2 4/3 mount but couldn't. Then I purchased this adapter and works perfectly both with video and stills. Now I can make use of my 150-500mm lens for wildlife photography and videos. Thanks to B&H for making available. But the only thing is that it has no other functions on it.

[0.3 lb] When I receive the adapter it was dark and focusing was slow. The next morning I tried it with all my lens and everything works fine. Even old lens that was not USM. I'm impress.
