The Vinten Quattro SE VRI Box Vector 430i Pan Tilt Headfrom Vinten Quattro SE VRI Box Vector 430i Pan Tilt Headis a pedestal system which includes a Quattro SE Encoded Manual Pedestal, a Virtual Reality Interface (VRI) Box, and a Vector 430i Pan and Tilt Head, as well as a Telescopic Pan Bar and Clamp, a VRI Mounting Kit, and a Pan Bar Mounted PDA user interface.

The Quattro SE pedestal is a compact, manually operated pedestal with built-in encoders. It offers a combination of simplified homing and setup procedures, precise digital electronic positioning, and on-shot performance for use in virtual studios. The pedestal features an ergonomically assisted lifting column and a small doorway width.

To enable tracking, high-quality precision encoders have been integrated into the wheels and column of the Quattro SS. The pedestal also incorporates an electronic module and base processor which deliver accurate position data for all axes. This combination with the head information provides precise real-time digital electronic positioning over the floor and in elevation. A PDA is included to simplify the setup procedure and provide the configuration and the operator's user interface. This is delivered through various calibration routines, head setup, and optical axis offset input, whilst also providing the operator with enhanced functionality such as quick homing and virtual set trimming. The homing procedure has been further simplified to provide ease of operation, flexibility of direction & angle of approach, and a fast targeting option.

A cable management system is incorporated into the pedestal to prevent the cable being caught or tangled during repositioning. To simplify virtual tracking, the output from the pedestal is integrated with the Vector 430i head, and lens position is fed back into a single data channel to the rendering system of a virtual software image generator.

The Vector 430i is a pan and tilt head which has a load bearing capacity of 22 to 94.8 lb and allows semi-automatic setup & slide plate tracking. The head offers real-time digital electronic positioning of pan and tilt to allow placing the graphics into a live environment. A graphical user interface displays positional information that makes setup and calibration easy. The Vector 430i Pan and Tilt Head can be used with EFP camera setups involving virtual reality, both in outside broadcast and in studio environments.

The VRI Box processes the positional data from the head encoders. It offers direct interfacing to lenses with encoder outputs (or bolt on lens encoders), to enable single data streaming to a graphics rendering system. The VRI box comes with a head interface cable, GUI, and mounting brackets. Mounted on the Quattro SE it provides full six-axis tracking. The Quattro software enables re-configuring to give X, Y, and Z axis VR movement.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the Sirui TY-60 plate work as well? If so, will the lock on the baseplate work with that plate?

A: is an arca type plate compatible, it will work.

Q: 2. Does the included quick release plate attach to the camera? Also, when the unit is in the vertical position, does the D810 go below the bottom of the unit? What is the distance of clearance if it does not?

A: I just purchased this pan head for my mono pod. I love it. As a matter of fact I liked it so much I just purchased another one for a gift for a friend. The quick release plate that comes with the unit attaches to the camera. It tilts and adjusts very smoothly.

Q: 3. Can this unit be adapter to a wireless controller or is there a next step up that would not brak the bank?

A: I would think that it would take quite a bit of work to make it work wirelessly. There are 2 cables that it uses. One for the pan motor & the other for the tilt motor. They send a varying voltage to the motors to control the speed they move the cameras.

Q: 4. What are the key differences between this and the FH-145 S2?

A: The S1 has one drag level with settings, The S2 has a total of three levels with settings.

Q: 5. How stable it is? I use some Bescor MP-101 but they are very sensitive to floor vibrations (wobbly)?

A: This one would be somewhat less sensitive to floor vibrations.

Q: 6. Where can one buy extra plates for this, does Sirui sale them ?? Jim

A: Click the link below to view the plate on our website; https://bhpho.to/3hyJUJO

Q: 7. Can the clamp be replaced with an Arca Swiss clamp?

A: Its Arca-Type Compatible ... its written in the specification.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with Sirui T-2005X tripod?

A: Yes, but it was designed for monopods you may want to look at Sirui ball heads.

Q: 9. Will this head allow me to shoot portrait mode?

A: Yes, it does! It has an adjustable plate, which allows you to rotate 90 degrees, and hence move your camera from landscape to portrait mode, without putting your quick release plate on sideways. It's one of the major upgrades from the L-10

Q: 10. The Kirk LP55 arm for Canon is it compatible with Sirui L20S head.

A: Sorry, I am not familiar with the Kirk LP55 arm.

[19.6" (49.8 cm)] I've owned this head and tripod for a few years now. It's very solid, and about as smooth as any fluid head could be. I've owned others that cost about half or 2/3 as much, but not as good. I've used it in all weather; desert sand and heat, rain, snow, temps down to -30f, wind chills as low as -45. It hasn't skipped a beat. One minor thing... for some reason the pan bar can slip back into the rosette clamp a bit at times. You just have to loosen the clamp, turn and push the bar back in, and re-clamp. Definitely does not affect the operation, so all 5 stars is what I give it.

[19.6" (49.8 cm)] Purchased this Head to use with my 70-200mm 2.8l is Lens. Used this for sports photography. Head performed beautifully on my monopod. Also works extremely well on Tripods. It features a panning top portion so I may use this with other arca compatible systems that may not be oriented correctly like advanced flash brackets or nodal rails. Weigh's more than a pound. It's a Tripod Head & Monopod Tilt Head all in one. Highly recommended.

[Illuminated] I've always liked Vinten tripods and heads, and this new Vision Blue is one more to like. It's solidly built, pans and tilts smoothly and it is easy to achieve balance. This head is a perfect match for our Panasonic HMC 150 and HPX 170 camcorders - and I feel it would comfortably support a larger-form camera as well. And as a plus, there's the price: This head performs like a much more expensive one.

[39.4" (100 cm)] This is really a great design and very well made. The adjustment knob was too tight out of the box and it seemed like I would have to return it. Glad I didn't! A padded Channel Lock pliers got it loose and after that all was great! I little turn on the knob permits tilt and pan and a larger turn releases the side to side movement like a Ball Head. So if you don't want total freedom like a ball head, you just loosen the knob a little and you can tilt forward and back and of course rotate to pan as well. My new favorite tripod head!

[Illuminated] The counter-balance system works silky smooth. I would recommend this tripod video head to anyone who wants their video pans & tilts to be smooth.

[Illuminated] Man am I blown away at how great this head is! Vinten's Perfet Balance system really does work as intended and is a real joy to use. It's super easy to rebalance after a lens change and takes no time at all. I've never used a properly counterbalanced head until now...what was I waiting for? Even with a roughly 600mm lens I'm able to attain perfectly smooth, controlled pans with minimal, if any backlash. I doubt tracking people or animals with a telephoto lens would be an issue at all. Just make sure you have a solid tripod! All and all I'm extremely happy with this head and it's sure to last me a very very long time.
