The Vinten Quattro SE VRI Box Vector 950i Pan Tilt Headfrom Vinten Quattro SE VRI Box Vector 950i Pan Tilt Headis a pedestal system which includes a Quattro SE Encoded Manual Pedestal, a Virtual Reality Interface (VRI) Box, and a Vector 950i Pan and Tilt Head, as well as a Telescopic Pan Bar, a Pan Bar Mounted PDA user interface, a camera wedge plate, and a VRI Box mounting kit.

The Quattro SE pedestal is a compact, manually operated pedestal with built-in encoders. It offers a combination of simplified homing and setup procedures, precise digital electronic positioning, and on-shot performance for use in virtual studios. The pedestal features an ergonomically assisted lifting column and a small doorway width.

To enable tracking, high-quality precision encoders have been integrated into the wheels and column of the Quattro SS. The pedestal also incorporates an electronic module and base processor which deliver accurate position data for all axes. This combination with the head information provides precise real-time digital electronic positioning over the floor and in elevation. A PDA is included to simplify the setup procedure and provide the configuration and the operator's user interface. This is delivered through various calibration routines, head setup, and optical axis offset input, whilst also providing the operator with enhanced functionality such as quick homing and virtual set trimming. The homing procedure has been further simplified to provide ease of operation, flexibility of direction & angle of approach, and a fast targeting option.

A cable management system is incorporated into the pedestal to prevent the cable being caught or tangled during repositioning. To simplify virtual tracking, the output from the pedestal is integrated with the Vector 950i head, and lens position is fed back into a single data channel to the rendering system of a virtual software image generator.

The Vector 950i is an encoded manual pan and tilt head. It offers real-time digital electronic positioning with a load bearing capacity of 35 to 264 lb. The rotary optical incremental encoders can be accessed via a connector provided at the front panel. Along with a tilt range of ±90° for 132 lb & ±60° for 264 lb, the Vector 950i Encoded Manual Head offers a tilt and pan resolution of 1,800,000° (per 360°). It supports TF drag that adjusts the drag level and whip pan movement without any manual reduction of drag. This head is ideal for virtual production with full facility studio and OB cameras.

The VRI Box processes the positional data from the head encoders. It offers direct interfacing to lenses with encoder outputs (or bolt on lens encoders), to enable single data streaming to a graphics rendering system. The VRI box comes with a head interface cable, GUI, and mounting brackets. Mounted on the Quattro SE it provides full six-axis tracking. The Quattro software enables re-configuring to give X, Y, and Z axis VR movement.

Q: 1. Does this head actually tilt up to 90 degrees? Its photo shows the thread mark up to 90 but the hole doesn't seem to go far as 90 but stops around 75 in both directions. Just wanting to make sure since I need the head to tilt up to 90 degrees.

A: Yes it does tilt 90% in both directions and the head will rotate a full 360% if you tilt 90% with the camera for portrait orientation on a tripod or monopod you cannot tilt the camera up or down,,,,if you set up the camera to tilt up or down with the 90% now you cannot tilt 90% for portrait orientation,,,,not as versatile as a ball head and as I have mine on a monopod not a tripod and i have my camera on the head set up for 90% for portrait shooting i just tilt my monopod forward or back for up and down shooting..

Q: 2. Does this induro work with my benro monopod?

A: Yes, it will work with your Benro monopod.

Q: 3. I bought this head to use with the sachtler monopod adapter for a large format/betacam style camera mount. so i needed the larger 3/8 Mounting Screw but this plate has no way to change the screw. Is there another plate I can buy for this head which has the larger 3/8 Mounting Screws ?

A: There is a separate plate with 3/8 Screw as well. You should h

Q: 4. Is this a true gimbal. If I mount this at the top of a pole will it stay level if the pole base is not?

A: The mount or pole needs to be plumb and level in order for this device to work properly.

Q: 5. I own a 66.5 3 Legged Thing mono pod with 3/8 mounting screw coming out of a 2 diameter mounting plate. Will it work with this setup?

A: I believe your set up will work without any issue. I used it with my Sirui CF monopod that also has a 3/8 mounting screw and it is very sturdy & flexible.

Q: 6. Is this a wireless remote? If not is there a way to set up a wireless remote.

A: No, it uses a wired remote and we have not come across any options for converting this to a wireless system.

Q: 7. Can this be mounted on a Church wall and can it be operated more than 20ft away with extended cable?

A: That should be possible. Varizoom has both 50 and 100 foot extensions cables that are compatible with this system. 50 Feet: https://bhpho.to/2Jc1iDl 100 Feet: https://bhpho.to/2vFSbHT

Q: 8. How stable it is? I use some Bescor MP-101 but they are very sensitive to floor vibrations (wobbly)?

A: This one would be somewhat less sensitive to floor vibrations.

Q: 9. Will this head allow me to shoot portrait mode?

A: Yes, it does! It has an adjustable plate, which allows you to rotate 90 degrees, and hence move your camera from landscape to portrait mode, without putting your quick release plate on sideways. It's one of the major upgrades from the L-10

Q: 10. What is the red pin under the Sirui logo for ?

A: That is a safety button. A loosened QR plate will not disengage unless the button is pushed.

[19.6" (49.8 cm)] I've owned this head and tripod for a few years now. It's very solid, and about as smooth as any fluid head could be. I've owned others that cost about half or 2/3 as much, but not as good. I've used it in all weather; desert sand and heat, rain, snow, temps down to -30f, wind chills as low as -45. It hasn't skipped a beat. One minor thing... for some reason the pan bar can slip back into the rosette clamp a bit at times. You just have to loosen the clamp, turn andpush the bar back in, and re-clamp. Definitely does not affect the operation, so all 5 stars is what I give it.

[19.6" (49.8 cm)] This monopod head is perfect for birding. The tilt knob is easy to manipulate and readjust quickly. The levels are great for keeping an eye on camera position. The camera lock-in is nice and secure. I was delighted to have this gadget when photographing a bird high up in a tree directly above my head:)

[187 lb (85 kg)] Purchased this Head to use with my 70-200mm 2.8l is Lens. Used this for sports photography. Head performed beautifully on my monopod. Also works extremely well on Tripods. It features a panning top portion so I may use this with other arca compatible systems that may not be oriented correctly like advanced flash brackets or nodal rails. Weigh's more than a pound. It's a Tripod Head & Monopod Tilt Head all in one. Highly recommended.

[5 VDC ±10%] This is really a great design and very well made. The adjustment knob was too tight out of the box and it seemed like I would have to return it. Glad I didn't! A padded Channel Lock pliers got it loose and after that all was great! I little turn on the knob permits tilt and pan and a larger turn releases the side to side movement like a Ball Head. So if you don't want total freedom like a ball head, you just loosen the knob a little and you can tilt forward and back and of course rotate to pan as well. My new favorite tripod head!

[39.4" (100 cm)] I've always liked Vinten tripods and heads, and this new Vision Blue is one more to like. It's solidly built, pans and tilts smoothly and it is easy to achieve balance. This head is a perfect match for our Panasonic HMC 150 and HPX 170 camcorders - and I feel it would comfortably support a larger-form camera as well. And as a plus, there's the price: This head performs like a much more expensive one.

[19.6" (49.8 cm)] Man am I blown away at how great this head is! Vinten's Perfet Balance system really does work as intended and is a real joy to use. It's super easy to rebalance after a lens change and takes no time at all. I've never used a properly counterbalanced head until now...what was I waiting for? Even with a roughly 600mm lens I'm able to attain perfectly smooth, controlled pans with minimal, if any backlash. I doubt tracking people or animals with a telephoto lens would be an issue at all. Just make sure you have a solid tripod! All and all I'm extremely happy with this head and it's sure to last me a very very long time.
