Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Any suggestions to add extra safety, so my camera with my heavy 400mm, pointing straight up? It makes me very nervous with only a plate holding the weight, I fear it will all slip off and crash to the ground

A: The Arca-Swiss type mounting plate system used on this tripod has a built-in slip prevention feature built into it. If the knob that tightens the plate to the ball head becomes loose enough to allow the plate to slip, it will only slip about a half inch or so before being stopped by this feature. If the knob loosens further, then the plate can be released altogether. However, you might want to consider getting a larger tripod with a wider splay of the tripod legs for your heavy setup.

Q: 2. Has anyone tried Canon full frame with Tamron 150-600 lens with this tripod. Thanks. And will it fill gimbal head wtih 3/8-16. I think will need some screw etc.?

A: Nikon with 70-200. When everything is locked into position it's fine and holds steady. The tripod is light weight but strong, I really like it. But, the head Is a bit of a pain making small, quick adjustments. My last tripod had a handle that often got in the way but was easy to to make positioning adjustments.

Q: 3. How easy it is to buy from India? How to deal with customs?

A: You can easily order this tripod with a credit card via our website. As to customs, we unfortunately we cannot do that for you. We suggest contacting the shipping carrier, DNL for further information regarding customs payment in your area.

Q: 4. Can you suggest a video tripod head to go along with the Mefoto GlobeTrotter? I will mainly be using a Sony RX10 camera.

A: No I'm sorry, I use mine with a DSLR only

Q: 5. How do I change out the head from my regular column to the short column?

A: loosen the collar to free large column and then remove cap at very bottom of column (it twists off)

Q: 6. Is the head removable?

A: yes the head will screw off the centre leg

Q: 7. Would you recommend using this with a canon 100-400 II on a 6d? It's within my price range but I would like to feel secure leaving my equipment on there for at least a short period of time. If not, does anyone have recommendations for another tripod not too far from this price range?

A: It's rated at 26 lbs. I've only used it with a 70D with battery grip (similar size to your 60D?) a 300-700 4-5.6 L on it but not with a collar. The mounting plate allows for some movement of the mount point, but I think I'd look at getting an optional, longer, ARCA-stile mount plate to give you a few extra inches of flexibility - that should allow you to mount over the center of gravity better. the legs extend wide enough and should not be a problem. if you're concerned about stability, there is a hook under the center column to which a sandbag or weight can be tied to help with that. I was also evaluating INDURO aluminum models as well. This won-out on price point and features. Very nice fit/finish.

Q: 8. I intend to use this with a Nikon D750 with battery pack and Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens. Will it support the weight of this setup?

A: I used it on my Nikon D800e/Nikon 70mm-200mm/f2.8 combo and battery pack with two legs fully extended on flat surface. It seems to do just fine. However, I wouldn't recommend using under any windy conditions, unless weight are add it. Hope this help.

Q: 9. the tripop MeFoto A2350Q2 come with a camera plate PU60. I need an extra one, which should I buy? could you indicate product number please. I will use it with a couple of Nikon D810

A: Any Arca-Swiss compatible mount plate will work with this ball head, they are made by a multitude of companies in various sizes as needed for your particular camera and lens mount application.

Q: 10. Can you shoot a vertical shot by locking the tripod? Will it stay locked and allow you to shoot vertically?

A: Yes, the head has a vertical tilt. I am very happy with the quality of material, build and versatility of this tripod.

[2" (49.8 mm)] I was interested in this tripod primarily because it seems to be of very solid construction, it had a high weight capacity, and because it converted into a mono pod. In addition, it was also fairly lightweight, and folded into a fairly compact package for portability purposes. This is my first high-quality tripod, but thus far I have not been disappointed in the least. The ball seems to function perfectly, and the adjustment knobs are appropriately placed and seem intuitive. I also like that the quick release plate came included in the package, as did the spike ends for the tripod feet. Additionally, it has a nice carry case, that though I do not intend to use, when out and about (it will be secured to my backpack), it serves as a nice way to store it at home if you're OCD about taking care of things. I have not used the mono pod alone, but I have assembled and disassembled it to make sure I could do it easily. It seems relatively easy, and relatively quick to perform. No complaints from me about this product

[2" (49.8 mm)] Excellent accessory for the Globetrotter Tripod, providing low-level shots within 13 inches of the ground without having to reverse-mount your camera. Always keep this mini-column in my tripod bag and use frequently. Must be removed before returning the folded tripod to the bag, but a small price to pay for the benefits.

[0.27 lb] Overall this is a solid pickup if you intend to shoot low--or even as a quick ballhead connector for the monopod leg. You have to unscrew the weight hook, unscrew the ballhead, and this goes right into the center column or onto the monopod leg. For the cost as a separate accessory? Kinda scratching my head as to why this isn't included with the tripod proper even if they jack the price up $30 to compensate. I figure the average person who buys a Globetrotter tripod would not nix the tripod if it was $30 more and came with the short column even if they didn't use it. But, that's just my opinion. There's nothing really superlative about the part short column proper, though. It does it's job and does it well. If you think you might shoot low, get it. It's useful to have and won't break the bank.

[4.8 oz (136 g)] This unit is Great. It beats the other OVER Priced and well known competitor, all around. As for me, an experienced 35yr. Photo Professional, thsi unit shines. Quality, Price, weight, compactness, design, durability and usability. There is one other lesser known competitor, Sirui. It looks very similar but other than that, this MeFoto unit works GREAT. Where have this Brand been hiding? Eugene S.
