A: Yes, this plate is compatible with all 3 Legged Thing heads as well as any other Arca style head. Keep in mind this plate is longer than the Travis model ball head clamp and will stick out on the ends but will certainly function in the head.

Q: 2. Regarding the locking mechanism .... When placing the head on the tripod, does the cameral have to be turned to lock it in place or does the 'locking ring' get turned to lock down the head to the tripod? Can the camera then be turned and accidentally unlock the head from the tripod?

A: To lock the head you rotate the base of the Arca-Swiss Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set. Not the head. It locks in so you can no unlock by accident.

Q: 3. will this stop the battery door from opening on Olympus OMD MKIII AND OM 1?

A: The 3 Legged Thing BASE70 Arca-Swiss Compatible 70mm Wide Quick Release Plate is 25mm from the center of the camera screw to the edge of the plate, so as long as the distance on the camera screw center to the battery door (open) is 26mm or more then it shouldn't cover the battery door.

A: Yes, the Arca-Swiss Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set is needed in order to quickly release the Arca-Swiss Quick-Link Tripod Head Quick Release Set from the tripod legs. The Quick-Link disc mounts on the base of any tripod head, and the receiver to the mounting plate mounts on the leg set. Then simply place the head assembly into the receiver and twist the knurled, bayonet-type locking ring to secure it in place. Additional disc mounts are available, so switching heads takes just moments - making working with multiple heads quick and easy.

A: The normal Arca plate will fit. The camera plate is not supposed to sit flush against the base but use the top finger to hold the camera plate. It does it well and very sturdy. The bottom finger and base pin will hold lens plates where the pin adds extra protection against sliding out. Get this monoball. I love mine.

[0.2 lb] Nothing too fancy here and it works really well for my purposes. I really appreciate having dual bubble levels, too. Wish they were slightly larger and easier to see, but they're a fast way to check how level the camera/tripod are. Since this doesn't take up a lot of space, it's now a must in my camera bag! 5

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I called B&H for help on this item. I needed a quick release with two pins, because one pin alone, would cause my 8x10 camera to wobble. I needed pins to be 8cm apart, and the sales pro searched for on in my price range. I'm impressed that the salesman to time to locate a quick release that fit my specifications, even though it was a small purchase. 5

[0.2 lb] Nothing fancy about this camera plate, but it's solid, sturdy and works very well. Be aware that it has a hex key type of fastener, not the use-a-nickel type shown in the photo. It does come with a hex key however, which is 3mm I believe. 5

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I bought a gimbal head for my tripod and 200 - 400mm lens. You will most likely need the longer plate to balance your BIG lens and camera. With the normal size plate, my camera and lens are front heavy. I could not slide the camera, lens, and plate far enough to get a good balance. Now it works great ! 5
