A: Yes. The upper jaws of the Monoball Z1 sp ball head fits classic Arca-Swiss L-plates as your BMBD12-L810. The bottom jaws fit Arca-Swiss' proprietary monoballFix design L-plates.

Q: 9. Do you stock the "Classic" version? Is there an advantage to the Microball mount?

A: I'm sorry but we do not carry the classic version, just the monoballfix. If you mean monoballfix, no there are just different mount systems and the monoball fix is only proprietary to Arca Swiss.

Q: 10. What tripod mounting plate is required to mount this system on a standard tripod head?

A: You need an Arca Swiss Z1 plate

[1.05 lb] Figured it was finally time to post a review a decade later. This ballhead has never let me down and I truly feel like I will never need a new head for the usable life of my hands. So I believe it will be amazing for the next 40+ years. I definitely put Arca in the next level compared to other ballheads but I wouldnt really know since I wont need to replace it any time soon. 5

[1.05 lb] Used the top Manfrotto/Bogen-bh before and this ballhead plays in a different league.No give whatsoever once locked down.A bit confusing is the part about setting minimal friction for different lenses.I'm using the A.-S. with a 300/4 and 1,7 TC as my biggest set-up and it's incredibly smooth.I can only recommend this ballhead. 5

[1.05 lb] Just realised I'd been using it since 2008, so figured I would throw out a review. Bit surprised it's still sold. It's never missed a beat and it's been dragged all over the place. Have used mostly for 24-105L and 70-200L and never had any slips or accidents even when moving it around with camera & lens attached. One of the few buy it once products! 5

[1.05 lb] The Arca-Swiss Z1 is now my primary ball head. While I am not the biggest fan of their new QR plate, it does what it's supposed to. Overall, this is a great ball head - rock solid with any gear I will ever use with it - easy to adjust and with no extraneous knobs. The size of this ball head does require that you use it on a fairly large tripod - I am using it with the PMG TR344 - but it is still happy hiking around the White Mountains for birding and landscape. 5

[1.05 lb] I've had an old Arca-Swiss head for many years and for the last 3 or 4 years the clamp at the top has been jury rigged to allow it to tighten up and hold my camera. Also, after many years the old one didn't move that smoothly any more (although still is functional) So I bought this one as a replacement and am very pleased with how smooth the action is and how nicely it clamps down tight without any movement, even with my D810 and a heavy lens. Very well built ball head....hope this new one lasts as long as my old one!! 5
