Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Sample picture is Z1(old model) Is this a new model Z1+? I couldnt find Z1+ in B&H.

A: The Z1 you are referring to but in the Plus is the Z1g+And it is, Arca-Swiss Monoball Classic Z1g+ Ball Head B&H # ARZ1GDPMB MFR # 801123.

Q: 2. Will this tripod head can be used with L bracket BMBD12-L810?

A: Yes. The upper jaws of the Monoball Z1 sp ball head fits classic Arca-Swiss L-plates as your BMBD12-L810. The bottom jaws fit Arca-Swiss' proprietary monoballFix design L-plates.

Q: 3. ARCA SWISS / QUICK RELEASE MODEL L- BRACKET FOR FUJIFILM X-T3 ?

A: Click the link below to view the many options; https://bhpho.to/2VFYQNK

Q: 4. How would I go about servicing the ballhead under the 5 year warranty? Who does it close to Michigan? thanks

A: You would have to contact their USA representative in Arizona. I will link you. http://rodklukas.com/arca-swiss/

Q: 5. What is the width of this rail? I have a Monoball P0 which can take a 32mm rail only. Is there a cheaper alternative that is 32mm wide that you can recommend?

A: The nodal set is for the PO head and is the width of that quick release system. So it should work fine on the head you have. For that head, Monoball P0 this is the only one we are aware of that will work.

Q: 6. Can the clamp be oriented to a 90 degree angle than that pictured?

A: Yes, the quick release can be rotated to 90 degrees. It has guides so it will be square when you do that to the rail.

Q: 7. Is this compatible with a Peak Design Capture clip plate?

A: You should ask Peak Design.Im a user NOT The manufacture !!!!

Q: 8. Is this the new Z1+ model or the old Z1? The PN (801103) is identical.

A: There are many Z1 models. The one you listed is the current model for the Z1 SP.The Z1G+ is a newer model but is different.

Q: 9. Can the clamp be rotated?

A: No, it does not rotate. Also the bottom of the rail is for the smaller clamp and is not a standard Arca-Swiss size.If you want a one that works like that but is standard and you can rotate it. There is one by Acratech. And there is another option by Sirui, a base that can attach to a rail that allows you to rotate.

Q: 10. Can this separately control the axis' as the Monoball Z2+?

A: There are separate locks for both panning axes on the Arca-Swiss Monoball Classic Z1g+ Ball Head, so you would be able to control the panning axes on the ball head independently from one another.

[0.6 lb] Just realised I'd been using it since 2008, so figured I would throw out a review. Bit surprised it's still sold. It's never missed a beat and it's been dragged all over the place. Have used mostly for 24-105L and 70-200L and never had any slips or accidents even when moving it around with camera & lens attached. One of the few buy it once products!

[Arca-Type] I was in the market for a macro rail system but needed the dual adjustability of x-y axis. My photos are often taken in steep and rocky terrain where the luxury of nudging your tripod an inch or so sideways doesn't always exist. The Arca-Swiss table system was intriguing and since owning other Arca-Swiss products, I took a chance on this one having the same great quality. The advertised photo is confusing since it shows the bottom rail locked into the jaws of the MonoballFix clamp. That is where your camera plate needs to be instead. OK it didn't take too long to figure the problem. I really like the friction knobs that help to secure the adjustment knobs. The gearing is so well manufactured that if your camera were pointing at any angle besides level, the camera's weight could allow for some creeping due to gravity. I use this device with a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens. To affix the lens to the MonoballFix clamp, I suggest that you also purchase a tripod mounting ring for the lens and an Arca-Swiss 75 mm camera plate. This is a good product and I have no regrets for making the purchase.

[0.6 lb] The P0-Hybrid solves the dilemma of ballhead vs. geared head controversy. The asymmetric inverted ballhead goodness of the P0 with its quick, sure positioning and one hand operation is paired with a precision geared component to give us the best of both worlds.

Yes, the geared movement s are limited but the ballhead eliminates this weakness by quickly bringing the head into the range of the geared adjustments. The movements themselves are self locking with detents at the zero points thus giving me the confidence of being able to position via the ballhead and knowing I will have the full range of movements at my disposal.
The head itself is beautifully made and the gears have no backlash. With the ballhead tightened down the head is immovable. This is critical for my work where I use multiple layers to make a final image.
The geared portion allows precise movements for critical placement of the camera with confidence that the camera will not move.
The ballhead supports 44lbs despite its small size. This is a testament to the robust construction of the head.
Overall, this is a superb solution for the architectural photographer looking for a cost effective solution to a geared head, compact dimensions without any major compromise in solidity or quality.

[Arca-Type] The Arca-Swiss Z1 is now my primary ball head. While I am not the biggest fan of their new QR plate, it does what it's supposed to. Overall, this is a great ball head - rock solid with any gear I will ever use with it - easy to adjust and with no extraneous knobs. The size of this ball head does require that you use it on a fairly large tripod - I am using it with the PMG TR344 - but it is still happy hiking around the White Mountains for birding and landscape.

[Aluminum] Used the top Manfrotto/Bogen-bh before and this ballhead plays in a different league. No give whatsoever once locked down.A bit confusing is the part about setting minimal friction for different lenses.I'm using the A.-S. with a 300/4 and 1,7 TC as my biggest set-up and it's incredibly smooth.I can only recommend this ballhead.

[0.6 lb] I've had an old Arca-Swiss head for many years and for the last 3 or 4 years the clamp at the top has been jury rigged to allow it to tighten up and hold my camera. Also, after many years the old one didn't move that smoothly any more (although still is functional) So I bought this one as a replacement and am very pleased with how smooth the action is and how nicely it clamps down tight without any movement, even with my D810 and a heavy lens. Very well built ball head....hope this new one lasts as long as my old one!!

[Screw Knob] Figured it was finally time to post a review a decade later. This ballhead has never let me down and I truly feel like I will never need a new head for the usable life of my hands. So I believe it will be amazing for the next 40+ years. I definitely put Arca in the next level compared to other ballheads but I wouldnt really know since I wont need to replace it any time soon.

[0.6 lb] Just to not confuse any readers, I bought an earlier version of this ballhead about 30+ years ago. I do not know if the workmanship or the quality is the same. The difference I see between mine and this new one is that the new one now contains a round platform and the plate on top whereas mine has the clamp attached directly to the to of the ballhead. I am really pleased how mine works after all this time. I love the two knobs because they do exactly what I want them to do. I have acquired RRS ballheads which I also really like and s couple of other quality brands that do the job. I seem to have a love of ballheads as I have many pro Nikon cameras with different lenses attached for quick access so I keep them available to attach to tripods. My next purchase will be this new version (at least for me) because I am really pleased with my old one that still works like new after all these years. I love the RRS ballheads but I already have three of them so I want another Arca-Swiss. The only thing I don't like about Arca-Swiss is their quick release plates, they suck. That is unless they changed them in the last 5 years. The levers do not keep them tight on the camera plates, or at least don't one the 2 I own. I like the RRS ones much better, but I still only buy the screw knob plates as I don't trust the quick release levers.

[8 x 5.5 x 3"] Exactly the high quality I expect from Arca-Swiss. Smooth and precise, great partner to my Cube when speed of movement is required.
