Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with ordinary household practicals?

A: Yes, the Impact D1000 1000W AC Analog Dimmer Control (110-120V) works with quartz halogen or incandescent light sources.

Q: 2. is there a way to power it from a battery?

A: The Impact SF-AE80 AC Flash (110-130 VAC) light is only AC and does not run on battery.

Q: 3. Will this work with LED bulbs in a string as long as it doesn't exceed the total watts of the bulbs?

A: I've found that it is more about the lamp than the dimmer. Many consumer grade LED bulbs claim to be dimmable on the package - but in use they flicker below 20% fading.

Q: 4. Can this dim a 56 foot long LED strip light? I think the total strip is 245 watts - much less than this is rated - but is there a different between LED and Quartz Halogen or Incandescent Lamps? (This dimmer says for Halogen/Incandescent)

A: I'm not an expert but your LED strip light works with a transformer which convert the 110 volt to a different voltage (probably 12 volts) to give power to the LED light. So I'd check your light transformer to be sure that it was made to be dimmable. If I was you I would check to buy a LED strip light transformer with a built-in transformer but again I'm not an expert.

Q: 5. Will using this dimmer change the color temperature of the tungsten fresnel light?

A: Using a dimmer on a tungsten light will decrease the color temperature. ( It will get warmer.)

Q: 6. Can you control the power output with this unit, or is it constant power?

A: It's constant power. No power settings.

Q: 7. Is this UL, CSA, and/or CE rated?

A: I checked the box and the dimmer itself, and could find no indication of it being rated.

Q: 8. Can you dim each light separately?

A: This is a single channel dimmer, so everything that is plugged into this will dim together.

Q: 9. Will it work with Arri 650w?

A: Yes, 650w is within the tolerance of this dimmer. I have used it with my 650 many times.

Q: 10. can this item work with led lights?

A: Yes. But the led bulbs have to be dimmable in order for the unit to function.

[6.4" / 16.2 cm] This step down ring (aka doughnut) keeps light from reflecting off filters and back into the lens; it works with the AC-450 matte box and with lenses that have 50-85mm diameter fronts. It threads into the matte box's 110mm ring; the rubber ring stretches to fit around the lens front. It is especially good for lenses that expand and contract a bit as you focus or zoom them.

[7.9 x 3.6 x 1"] This is a very simple product but works very effectively for a bunch of photography lenses with different diameter fronts. It has a nice Chrosziel build and feels like it would last the test of time. I was expecting the rubber to be really stiff, and hard to get over the lens, but it's quite soft and easy to use.

[0.55 lb] For the money, you get a tool that was made to true industrial standards and which works right out of the box. Well, not a box, actually; it's that heavy plastic see-through packaging, but it is NOT the kind which you need to hack and chop at to open. All in all, this one is easy to recommend.
