The Barska 8x40 Level Binoculars | High-Performance Opticsfrom Barska 8x40 Level Binoculars | High-Performance Opticsprovide 8x magnification and have 40mm diameter objective lenses and 8.2° angular field of view. They feature fully multicoated optics and BK7 Porro prisms, which improve light transmission and image clarity compared to the single-coated optics and lower-grade glass in prisms.

Beyond optical properties, these binoculars have a set of convenience features. For example, they can be mounted on a tripod to reduce image jitter introduced by unsteady hands. The center focus wheel allows you to focus both tubes simultaneously, and diopter adjustment allows you to accommodate the dioptric difference between both eyes. Also, the eyecups can be folded down to allow extra space for eyeglasses.

Additionally, they feature a shock-absorbing rubber armor, which also provides for a comfortable and secure grip. Also included are a lens cloth, a soft case, and a lanyard.

A: No, although I believe an adaptor is available for a camera. [2.35 lb] This Binocular comes with 30x lens the highest magnification lens you can get without a zoom. All Zoom Binoculars gets a darker view after 25x, so the higher the zoom, the darker the view gets. But this Binoculars comes with Professional 80mm Objective Lens that brings in all the light needed to get a clear view of anything small or large. You will need a tripod to hold this one still but its worth getting. It comes with a professional case and B&H delivers on-time.

[Center] The most comfortable binoculars in hand I ever held. Solid as a rock. Feels like military equipment. My wife, who could care less about cameras or optical devices, loves them. Razor sharp with great color, matching my Zeiss Victories and Kahles Austrian made glass. I don't think they are best for birding because the focus has a long throw that doesn't snap in like the Kahles. Also the objective lenses are closer together than most porros so the 3D punch is not quite as dramatic as for example my Swift 8.5x43s.....more like what you get from roofs. But I can't believe what you are getting for the money. They are my current favorites.

[2.35 lb] Upside:
I have used my Barska 10x42 Level ED Waterproof Binoculars for birding and other wildlife observations having owned multiple other binoculars of high quality made with expensive glass and in accordance with established, high-end specifications and standards. This Barska ED version cost less, is comfortable in my grip and feels solid.

The quality is comparable to other brands costing $500-$1,000. There does not appear to be any compromise on the same, important specs.

I am getting the same brightness, definition performance and field reliability I had for binoculars costing hundreds more.

Other Considerations:
These are full size binoculars (not the giant kind however). They are made with quality materials. As such, they may be experienced as being on the heavy side by some users, particularly those who are frail or elderly or if they are used over extended periods during a long day of hiking and birding.

I'm in my mid 60's and in reasonable shape and I seem to do okay with them on extended bird outings.

Conclusions:
I highly recommend this model to serious wildlife observers. These are not cheap knock-offs. You're getting more than you paid for or a good value; especially if you shop around for a better deal when special buys are made or when sales are available.

B&H is a quality vendor having competitive pricing and excellent customer service.

Best Wishes

[5 mm] Good price, quick shipping, AND the binoculars are ideal for my purposes. YES, they need some kind of stabilization, tripod etc. I get adequate results for most of my purposes using a monopod.
Long story short, GET THEM, USE THEM, ENJOY THEM.

[8x] We have a feeder about 40 feet from our house and now I can see the birds in great detail. Very pleased.

[Porro (BK7)] Great magnification for birding and a nice wide field of view as expected for an olympus product. Very nicely constructed and feel like much more expensive binoculars.

[2.35 lb] This astro bin is a cumbersome Porro, which in the current days of roofs, looks like it came from another age. But, importantly, mine came with what seems to be very good collimation, little CA, and that center brace that gives it the feel of some kind of a single sledgehammer-like device. I was curious enough to train them on Saturn and what I saw, under rather poor seeing conditions, was indeed a disk, an elongated disk like it's said Galileo himself spotted. No rings; but they were there. I read it takes 35-power minimum to glimpse them, so no wonder. Perhaps under the best skies somewhere and under pristine seeing and transparency, one actually could cull up the rings with these. Alberio was easy and nicely colored, proving to me the optics in here are good enough, esp. for the money. Have not gone down to the beach with them yet. Remember there is zero weatherproofing here, so it's important to keep them dry at all times. At night, when bringing them back indoors and exposing them to rapid temperature change, it might be a good idea to place them in a big baggy first and leave the outside air in it; and also to pre-treat them with an anti-fog lens cleaner. Outdoors, if rain begins, simply put them away for now and go with a waterproof substitute with a lower power. Phil Harrington discusses binocular sizes and writes that 30x80s are really only for planets, but I find it compelling to go against the grain of this sort of cut-off. The exit pupil is small, granted, but the big ol' 80mm objectives are not, so the trade-off here is minimal, the light-gathering is remarkable. I'm going to try it on some of the Virgo-Coma galaxies next time I can get to a dark site and when they're visible. Should be a challenge worth doing.

[8x] These are great binoculars for the money spent!!! Orderer them through B&H photo in New York,Very fast deliverycame a day earlier than expected the imaging through these bino's,very small trace colorations around the edges but not enough to hinder the view by far. The image attached was taken through these mounted to a Sunpak medium duty tripod 6630 LX, also ordered through B&H photo as well, these two items work perfectly together, and using a cell phone through an adapter. The only editing that was done was a slight contrast adjustment.
