[100 Ohms] The Sennheiser HD300 Pro headphones have the clarity and accuracy that any audiophile would opt for. In addition, the
closed back design is perfect for noisy environments. They fit snugly without unnecessary compression. Dollar for dollar, they are a great value.

[100 Ohms] I was about to join the gullible consumers club and buy a pair of “Beats” but thankfully I discovered these. These are by far the best headphones I have ever used. The sound quality is simply amazing.

[Black] I compared this pair of headphones to V-Moda M100, HD8 Dj and the sound they produce is way crisper especially the mids and highs. The bass is punchy and not too bassy, unlike M100s. HD8 Dj are very simillar but they have a 1khz roll off of about -4 / -5 db which not everyone's cup of tea. Though, HD8 produce the best low bass I have ever heard. There is something magical about it.

[100 Ohms] I used these for a little while now for video editing, sound design, and mixing ambient sound. They are quite transparent for music, it's a bit unforgiving for certain tracks where the mix is hidden in bad speakers. Extremely clear. The 109db limited also adds piece of mind for field recording - looking forward to trying them for that.

[1.05 lb] I have owned the HD 58x, HD 560s, and PC 38x from Sennheiser and of those, the only ones that were decently comfortable for my incredibly large head were the PC 38x. I loved the sound of all of them, but they were just not made for people like me. I was hesitant to buy these, but they have a completely different headband design, so I figured it was worth a shot. Plus I could always return them if it didn't work out.

I'm glad I gave it a try. While I do wish the headband had another click or two of adjustment, it seems to just barely get large enough for me. And they are by far the most comfortable Sennheiser headphones I have ever used. I almost forget that I am even wearing them after a while. The only slight complaint with comfort is that the very tips of my ears seem to touch the sides of the earcups even though these are supposedly deeper than others they make.

For the sound, it's really excellent. I prefer the producer pads for the extra bass; this gets me a bit more warmth than the other Sennheisers I mentioned, a more pleasing midrange than the 560s, and a nice, bright top end that is still smooth and not grating. Not much more I could ask for here. They also have excellent sound stage and imaging.

The only other slight complaint is the cable. The cable is fine, but the little coiled bit bounces around a bit and you can hear that in the left ear. It's a little annoying, but it's also a replaceable cable, so you could just get an aftermarket one instead.

While I am very happy with my purchase, I do also think these would be better priced. Still, I highly recommend them.

(I also posted this on Sweetwater, so no, this isn't a bot, I just like them enough to rate them multiple places)

[1/4"] I've had Sennheiser headphones for a long time, I don't buy many pairs, but I do like how they sound and I use them for long sessions, both during work (unrelated to music or sound production) and for personal music listening at home. Since the split and sale of the consumer side of Sennheiser I've been wondering how the brand offerings will shake out. And since the handful of headphones I've had in the past generally reside in the $150 to $250 range the fact that range was sold off to another company gave me a bit of pause on where to get any new headphones I buy, the Pro line from Sennheiser themselves, or the consumer models from Sonova. I decided to try these new Pro line from Sennheiser themselves given the age (and ragged look) of an old headphone pair I'm retiring and I did have a bit of extra cash lying around so I decided to go for these HD 490 PRO's.

After about two weeks with them, I can say I like their feel on my head, their sound, their weight, and the cord. I do have a pair with individual left and right cords, but this single sided cord is very nice. The price seems a bit high for headphones and I realize these are getting into the 'professional' area so the price would probably reflect that fact. So it didn't actually surprise me, but most casual listeners or non audio production people like me probably don't need to splurge on them either. That said, no regrets and if I had the cash, I would buy them again.

The only minor thing that annoyed me about them was that on my older pairs the braille 'Left' mark that allows you to put them on correctly without looking at them is in the back on this pair whereas my older Sennheisers had it on the front of the ear cup. Again, I don't buy a ton of headphones so maybe there isn't any kind of set standard and I just happened to get two older models that had it on the front of the earcups. A very minor change, but something that I have to occasionally think about when putting them on.

[Closed-Back] If you break a plug or cable this will do the trick. Don't throw away your headphones, this replacement part is easy to install and have your headphones as good as new. And it's a pleasure doing business with B&H.

[Closed-Back] I tried all monitor headphones at the store. This is the one I can wear and listen for a long time, and has the sound that motivates me to work on my project! I I really love it. But it's a little odd-looking when you wear it.

[1/4"] In searching for a new pair of headphones that would have better sound isolation than my usual pair, I tried on the Sennheiser HD 300 Pro headphones at a local gear shop and knew they were the ones. I work from home and share an office space with my housemate who frequently takes work calls and meetings; these headphones mean that I can put on music, a show, or a movie and not be distracted by the calls while I work. They're also useful for recording, since the design of the headphone results in very little - if any - audio leak from the cups. I also haven't noticed any pressure issues from long wear sessions, and can wear them with my glasses without feeling compressed. The audio quality is clear and while I ended up downloading an EQ add-on for my PC, I would also be happy to use them as-is.

All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. I will be curious to see how these headphones hold up over time and how soon the ear pads will need to be replaced. My wallet wishes that these were sub-$150 rather than $200, but compared to everything else I've tried at this price point and above, they have been well worth the purchase and suit my needs.
