The Blackmagic DeckLink Studio 4K Capture Playback Cardfrom Blackmagic DeckLink Studio 4K Capture Playback Cardfeatures 6G-SDI and 4K HDMI inputs/outputs which support resolutions from SD to Ultra HD 4K (3840x2160) and DCI 4K (4096x2160). Additionally, the DeckLink Studio 4K offers a wide range of video and audio connections via an included breakout cable. These connections consist of analog component, S-Video, composite video, two channels of AES/EBU audio, and four channels of balanced analog audio. The card also provides RS-422 deck control, a reference input, and a down converted SD output.

DeckLink Studio 4K offers flexible format and system support, letting you work with compressed video formats such as ProRes and DNxHD, as well as 10-bit uncompressed video. When working with uncompressed video, all images are pixel-for-pixel identical to the source, without any generational loss. This lets you get sharper keying with green screens, cleaner compositions, superior color correction, and more. Support for common file formats provides ready-to-edit files for use in popular editing, effects, and design software applications. DeckLink Studio 4K is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux based workstations.

A: this can only handle one video input 1 x BNC (6G-SDI) at a time

A: Yes, that should be possible with this product.

Q: 3. Can this card capture 2 SDI sources?

A: No. It is one source that may or may not take two connections.

Q: 4. what's in the box? breakout cables, connectors, user guides??

A: Only Card and Audio Break Out cable. No manual or thumb drive in the box I got.

Q: 5. Can this card send video over SDI from a 4K Premiere timeline to a 1080p Flanders Scientific video monitor? Is the card capable of down converting that 4K signal?

A: No, the DeckLink Studio 4K Capture & Playback Card will not downscale for you. I would recommend either setting the program on Premiere to playback at a specified setting, or using a scaler between the computer and the monitor.

Q: 6. Does this DeckLink Card support AC3 audio?

A: By itself the card only has uncompressed audio. The controlling software would need to encode or decode AC3. Media Express from Blackmagic does not.

Q: 7. Can I output UHD from the HDMi and HD from the HDSDI at the same time?

A: A single selectable output standard is common across all the outputs.

Q: 8. Can you capture from more than one input at the same time?

A: The DeckLink Studio 4K Capture & Playback Card will not input multiple sources at the same time.

Q: 9. Can I use this with OBS to capture video from an ATEM for streaming?

A: Yes. You just have to make sure your resolutions match like any other black magic device. We currently use this card to stream our church services through OBS using the HDSDI in.

Q: 10. Can you output composite SD video while capturing SDI at the same time, or do I need a separate output card? I want to use Studio 3.0 to bring in SDI, composite graphics, and then output SD

A: S-Video and composite analog video do not support high definition video and so you will not see video on these outputs when working with HD input video.

[1.645 lb] For now, I have no problems at all. No bug issues either. I had a Decklink 3D extreme prior and had a problem of having a 1/4 second delay on my 42 inch client monitor from AVID Media composer...it was extremely annoying. But now Studio 4K card had no delays and it works perfectly for now. I also have a TVLogic 17in for grading resolve and it works great. Also tried the Media Express to capture SD footage to HD upconvert, but then it wasn't as good as I thought would be. Only option of capture file format is AVI 8 & 10 bit and DPX 10bit RGB. I have not tested out with 4K monitor yet... 5

[1.645 lb] Honestly I had a bit of a struggle with a couple of other cheaper cards: the Intensity Pro 4K and the Decklink SDI 4K. A couple cards that basically do what this one does combined. My issue (in hindsight) was that an HP Z840 with only one processor in it, can only use 5 of the 7 PCIe slots that it has and I had run out of space trying to put those 2 cards in. I had missed the Decklink Studio 4K somehow and decided to send the others back and get this instead. I prefer the balanced analog audio that this has also (via 1/4inch female jack connectors) as opposed to the RCA (phono) connections on the Intensity Pro 4K. What looks in the picture to take up 2 slots doesn't in reality because the HDMI part can go in the top (mechanical) slot of a Z840 without a PCIe connection. You just connect it via the cables provided to the back on the main card. I don't find this noisy, like some have complained about. I do find the BMD software a little irritating,because although you save settings it reverts the next time you restart your system. All in all though, an excellent value solution to any analog or digital video I/O requirements you're likely to have. 5

[24-bit, 48 kHz] I use this card for playback in a color correction suite. It works great. The two main reasons I got this card specifically are 1) Supports 4:4:4 color at 2K and 4K DCP aspects. 2) Simultaneous HDMI and SDI output. This second reason is important to me because our color suite doubles as a DCP screening room. For DCP's the image is sent thru the SDI to a projector and the 5.1 audio is sent thru the HDMI to a surround preamp. Works perfectly. 5
