Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this case have a pick and pull foam layer?

A: The bottom layer of foam is solid.

Q: 2. Hi, which Pelican case would you suggest for a Nikon 70-200mm FL ED? This case seems to long for that lens - is there a slightly smaller case anyone would recommend? Thank you people!

A: Close in size, but a little smaller would be the Pelican 1400.https://bhpho.to/2x3yBmX

Q: 3. What is the country of origin of pelican case?what is the role of form iin the case? Hoow. Can. I place safely my ccannon cnn-e 14.5-660mm T/2.6 lens and black magic ursa mini pro in the case?should i Cut the form accordingly?,,Asok

A: The Pelican iM2450 Storm Case with Foam (Black) country of origin is the United States. The interior dimensions are 18.0 x 13.0 x 8.4 / 457 x 330 x 213 mm. With the URSA Mini Pro being 8.2 x 8 x 5.8 / 21 x 20.1 x 14.7 cm, and the Canon CN-E 14.5-60mm T2.6 L S Cinema Zoom Lens 5.35 x 6.42 x 12.83 / 135.9 x 163.1 x 326 mm, I think it too tight to fit both. You should always consider that with your most delicate (and often heavy) items like these that you should have at least 3 / 75mm of foam all around for the best protection. Another tip from someone whose previous career was a motion picture camera assistant: get two cases. I know the thought is that it would be more convenient to have just one case rather then two. I will tell that for most of the time is it not. Except for special circumstances (say travelling in small aircraft and you absolutely must be as small as possible) for the most part it is much better that the camera and the lens have their own cases so they are the only important thing in there to be protected. Accessories that go with that piece of gear can be kept in the case as well. You will find out that on set and when storing, it is better to keep them separate. On set you can leave the camera case behind and bring the lens case to the set up in case you have other lenses to use. Or say one has to go to servicing; it can go and the other still has a case. Say you do not want the lens, just the camera for you will be getting another lens. You can leave the lens behind, safe and protected. Finally, instead of one big heavy case, you have two lighter ones.

Q: 4. Will this work for a Sony A7iii with a small rig case and a small ninja V átomos monitor

A: Possibly, it depends on which lens, it may fit pretty tight, you may want to go 1 size up.

Q: 5. Is ALL the supplied foam (for both lid & bottom) removable from the case, (or is it glued/fixed to the case)? For example, say for rare occasions when one may not want any foam. Thank you for your insight/product knowledge. Mary

A: The foam is removable. It is not glued in.

Q: 6. la this the largest pelican case?

A: Pelican does offer even larger cases, however this is still a large case that may suite your needs. It has Internal Dimensions of 28.2 x 19.8 x 17.6".

Q: 7. Is the foam pick-n-pluck foam?

A: Yes but what I do is go the the Pelican Store on line and order the solid foam sheets and cut them to fit the equipment and then glue the foam together for me FS7 camera's and others.

Q: 8. I have very curious question, and it seems no one ever mention? This kind of cases is to protect very delicate equipment such as Camera, lens, laptops, but....do anyone agrees with me. This on one hand it protects again scratch, bump etc...but along with that it will loosen most of the nuts that hold those components. When you drag those cases, vibrations will cause our expensive equipment to loosen their screw, nuts. I have one proof, one of my friend has a Canon lens, and one day the zoom just stuck. He did not know why, and almost waste $250 just for the camera shop to repair. I try few minutes and found out the tiny screw on the lens was loose due to the vibration of the Pelican while carry on. Same thing, he said his laptop has some parts moving inside. So, for short I don't think this Pelican is working, then how come they are so popular and expensive as well? To protect, yes, but not to drag on the ground like this, it should be lift and carry on your arm. Do I guess right?

A: The 1660 is massive. I use them for lights and TelePrompTer hardware. I carry my cameras in a 1510 Pelli case. I use them because the cases themselves are very solid. I travel around the world with these cases and Ive never had a problem. I dont know any case that can protect from vibration. Youre probably right about carrying the bodies in arms. My stuff is too heavy for all that. Regardless theres better case around.

Q: 9. Are you able to cut the foam to fit your items? Or does the foam simply mold around

A: The foam is cubed so you can shape it according to the gear you're holding.

Q: 10. Will a Gitzo 3542 fit comfortably in this case?

A: Comfortably, yes, but will be too long for the tripod.

[Latch] We are paranormal researchers and investigators and use some very delicate equipment. We travel throughout the US and need to protect our gear. These cases are perfect for us and you can't beat the price.

[Handle] This Explorer case is every bit as good as that higher-priced popular brand and I have both. Wished it came in more colors but I suspect the lack of choice keeps the costs lower. I especially like raw foam dividers which I can change to suit what I put inside and not have to purchase another set of foam “pluck” inserts. I believe the handle on the Explorer is even better than that other brand. Made in Italy too. Cool

[Black] Yes! The Canon EOS 90D fits perfectly inside. And I can even add the Rode mic and I'm ready to travel. Just what I needed for outdoor trips where I want to protect my mic and camera from dust and rain. Perfect!!

[Yes] I purchased this case as a tool storage box for the back of my pick up. I don’t generator service and installations. The main factor is the weather proof idea I like however the ability to wheel to the Genset set versus caring a heavy box is appealing. So far it’s been a great box it has more space than my craftsman four drawer tool box that allowed snow and rain into the draws.
It is pricing but I carry $2000 worth of tools so it’s worth the expense.

[Handle] I frequently travel with sensitive electronic equipment on airplanes. The airline companies have strict rules about size and weight - if you exceed these numbers you get whacked with hefty additional fees. The maximum weight is 50 pounds and the sum of H+W+D, is 62 inches. The Explorer 5833 Case, at 28 pounds (with foam) and 61.1 inches H+W+D is the best solution I've found for a heavy duty airline friendly equipment case.
