The Gra-Vue SD-SDI to Composite Converter with Audio Embeddingis an expansion board the requires the 3RU version of the XIO-series rackmount frame. The card takes a single NTSC or PAL SD-SDI input and converts to one composite analog output. So the signal can pass to downstream devices without requiring a separate distribution amplifier, the SDI input is also looped back out on two mirrored outputs. Along with video, this converter will also embed two stereo pairs (4-channels) of analog audio into the SDI stream.

Digital to Analog Video Conversion    2 x Composite Outputs    2 x SDI Looping Output    4-Channel Audio Embedding    For 3RU XIO Frame

Status IndicatorSignal status indicator, power indicator -- indicated by illuminating or extinguishing a green LED

A composite reference input and built-in frame sync allows the outgoing signal to be synced with external sources such as a common house clock. This is ideal in live switching environments to ensure a glitch-free transition between cuts

Automatic signal equalization enables incoming SDI cable runs of up to 656' when using Belden 1694A cable

Provided LED lights to indicate the status of signals and power supply

Supports SNMP, and can be managed and monitored remotely across a network using XIO NET

Designed for use in broadcasting systems, studios, and other professional video fields

Q: 1. I have 1 sdi camera that connects this capture card https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/766050-REG/Blackmagic_Design_BDLKULSASDI_UltraStudio_SDI.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/766050-REG/Blackmagic_Design_BDLKULSASDI_UltraStudio_SDI.html/aHow would I connect audio from my mixer board to this device and then into capture card ?

A: Connect your SDI camera to the input to the Mini Converter. Connect your audio console analog audio to the audio inputs to the Mini Converter. The output of the mini converter connects to the Ultra Studio

Q: 2. What is the latency between the SDI video and analogue audio?

A: According to Blackmagic Design, The Mini Converter SDI to HDMI has a delay of less than a single line of video, except when it needs to convert PsF to P, which will take one frame. The Analog to SDI has a four line delay.

Q: 3. can i give stereo sdi input and receive stereo output?

A: Yes, stereo will work, as this device can handle up to 4 channels of analog signal and 8 channels digital.

Q: 4. Can you delay the audio to sync with the video? Looking to use without a computer. Audio from Mixer and Video from PTZ Camera. I will need to sync the audio, can this be done?

A: From working with this device, there is no way of delaying the audio source at all.. You can change the setting to where the analog audio is being set to the SDI stream. Like 1-4 or 5-8, etc Hope this helps.

Q: 5. What cables do I use to get the 8 channels of digital balanced audio out to a mixer? I don't see any 1/4" Y splits that will carry the signal to a mixer.

A: You need 4 TRS to TS or XLR, insert style cables to get out of the 4 connectors on the box to 8 inputs on a mixer.

Q: 6. If I use two separate audio inputs can I separate them to right and left channels?

A: Yes, you can separate them.

Q: 7. I see there are mini switches on this, what numbers to do you have on?

A: This all depends on your particular usage of the device. - Do you want to get analog or AES audio from it? Dipswitch #8 determines which one is output. - An SDI signal can carry up to 16 channels of audio - but this device can only output 4 for analog and 8 for AES at a time - so dipswitches #5 & 6 determine which group of audio channels is output. In my particular usage for this device - I want analog audio - channels 1-4 from the unit. So I leave all 8 dipswitches in the OFF position.

Q: 8. Do I have embedded audio singal on the SDI-output of this converter?

A: This converter will de-embed audio from the SDI Input. The SDI Output will be the same as the SDI Input. No change to the signal. So if there is audio on the SDI input, there will be audio on the SDI output.

Q: 9. When would you or wouldn't you use the "Sample Rate Conversion" with this product? Not familiar with this feature, thanks for the help?

A: Sample Rate Conversion should almost always enabled to ensure audio is embedded at the correct sample rate for television (48 kHz).

Q: 10. If I wanted to try and get 8 channels of analog audio embedded - would I be able to use 2 of these units in series?

A: The Blackmagic Design SDI to Audio Mini Converter is designed to de-embed audio. You would need the embedding version, which would be the Blackmagic Design Audio to SDI Mini Converter, B&H # BLCOMCAUS2.

Hooked it up to my HDMI camera and connected the composite side to the projector as well as a video mixer. Worked for both devices the first time without any hassle. Thanks!

Got the job done for a venue that still had an old rca video system!

Used this on one of 4 outputs of an HDMI switch always having DHCP/ EDID problems into even more expensive composite converters. Tis inexpensive converter worked 1st time and every time since even with any combination of inputs and outputs selected on the 4X4 HDMI matrix switch.

I bought this to interface my laptop with and older TV, but I use it mainly to record movies from my satellite receiver (HDMI out). It gives me consistently good quality (within the limits of composite). The composite output of my receiver, by contrast, is prone to color fluctuations. Oh, and with the older TV, it performed equally well.

I have use this component to convert the HDMI signal to the composite going into our video mixer. There is no signal loss, one run is 30 feet HDMI cable other run is about 125 feet HDMI cable. I have white balanced both of the Marshall cameras and the clots are popping.
