    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I am surprised to notice that practically there is no sound until the volume is raised to 40 to 45. Is this a device problem or normal for this product?

A: It may vary somewhat depending on the connected speakers and listening mode. Try headphones also.

Q: 2. Is the 100W RMS or peak?

A: That would be RMS. The Yamaha R-S202 can deliver 100 W per channel continuous power at 8 Ohms.

Q: 3. Can I connect speakers to this ES202 then to my TV?

A: You mean R-S202 ? Please detail what you want. Are speakers not loud enough?

Q: 4. What is the effective range for Bluetooth Connectivity?

A: Have not used Bluetooth yet, but plan to.

Q: 5. Will this unit work with Bluetooth headphones?

A: This component's bluetooth is for receiving only and it cannot transmit to wireless bluetooth headphones.

Q: 6. will this unit transmit audio to bluetooth speakers?

    A: No it doesn't

Q: 7. what is the warranty?

A: This will come with a Limited 2-Year Warranty from the manufacturer.

Q: 8. Can I use the Bluetooth feature to play sound from my Smart TV?

A: If your smart tv is bluetooth output compatible then yes.

Q: 9. Can I connect an external equalizer?

A: The only way to connect an external equalizer to the Yamaha R-S202 would be to go from the output on one of your input devices, into the equalizer and then into one of the RCA inputs on the back of the Yamaha R-S202.

Q: 10. Any problems using my 6 ohm Pioneer SP-BS22LR speakers with this receiver?

A: The Yamaha is going to over power the speakers, so you will need to watch the volume.

[19.5 lb] I am a proud 3 year owner of a pair of NS-555's and I have to tell you, if you are in the 2 to 3thousand dollar price range for a set of main speakers, you would simply feel robbed if you don't at the very least give these speakers a good audition! Read all the reviews on these speakers...user reviews...all of them, not one is a negative one. In fact all of them say the same thing...these speakers are ridiculously cheap for how good they sound! I listen to lots of jazz and blues...two channel music. I have an HK AVR130 and a Rotel RDV1060 and a Sonicwave Pure Glass optical interconnect. These speakers reveal detail and nuances that seem to float in front of you! Bass is tight and surprisingly deep. It took me a while to angle them right, taking into account the wave guide horns that do just that guide the sound, to achieve the optimum soundstage imaging. I can say that after some slight adjustments you can really achieve great soundstaging! And this to all of you that thinks the Japanese can't make a great sounding speaker....NOT! Its now time for the Europeans to make a speaker that sounds this good...for this cheap!!!! Yeah right! The NS-555's are as good as any speaker under 2 grand a pair easy! And none are more beautiful! Problems Encountered: The only thing to recommend is to turn the speakers up side down right out of the box so you can install the corner supports. They are very well designed and effectively stabilizes the speaker by expanding the footprint. The speakers are not light so be careful and it would be advised to have a soft towel or carpet under the speakers when you unpack them.

[Floorstanding ] First, the audio: When it comes to audio, beauty is in the ear of the listener. I debated the 555 versus the 777 and purchased the 555. No regrets. When the Yamaha RX-V4A receiver in front of the speakers was fine-tuned, these speakers cover the complete range of audio output and do it well. When the drummer smacks the sticks into the rim of the snare drum, it is as clear as being there. The bass produced is clear, certainly adequate and not a muddled boom.
Second the physical: The assembly is easy, the support foot attachment could be improved with pre-installed nutserts and machine screws instead of wood screws attaching the feet to the cabinets. The grilles look good and apparently are meant to stay in place and not intended for (easy) removal. The polished black exterior looks great.
Every listener's auditory capabilities and taste in sound are different. The NS-555 meets my expectations well in both categories. All at a reasonable price. Thanks B & H.

[2-Way] These speakers are in fact excellent even without sub (although it does seem that the current ones are not exactly the same as the ones i purchased- these having a lower frequency response and a different country of manufacture). The acoustics of the room i was using them in was quite bad and canceling out all the punch of the bass. Im very happy with these speakers and do recommend them.
-the D.A. is corrupt

[2-Way] i've sampled many speakers priced upto $2000 a pair, but to get anything significantly better than these you have to spend atleast $3200-$4000 a pair. so picture the sound quality from these yourself.

[19.5 lb] These speakers have good highs and also midrange, the bass could be a little better...but with my subwoofer it doesn't matter much. The appearance of the speaker are very nice having the piano gloss look....looks like very exspensive speakers, for the money you can't beat these speakers!

[8 kHz ] These speakers are outstanding, i have 4 of these for over 2 years now and they still sound brand new. The finish is perfect. These speakers exceeded my expectations. With a lot of crankabillity while still keeping the clarity of it turned down. Exceptional bass output for towers, superb midrange, and amazing tweeter. I have the matching center channel, and Klipsch triple 12 sub, and a 6.1 Yamaha receiver. The sub can't keep up with the speakers, and its a 1400 dollar sub. Problems Encountered: The piano finish attracts dust like a magnet.

[Floorstanding ] I spent many hours in Fry's Electronics and BestBuy stores listening all kinds of floor standing speakers, trying figure out which of them would fit my budget and my requirements... I am not audiophile, but I appreciate clear sound, and I'd like to hear all instruments. After reading reviews on Yamaha ns-555 speakers I wasn't pretty much sure if I should buy them. Some people say they sound good, some say they lack of lower frequencies... So I decided to give 'em a try. I was planning to buy a subwoofer in case they lack of base sound. I have Yamaha RX-V573 receiver (I know it's old one, but it still fits my needs), and it has bi-amp feature (not bi-wire), and ns555s can be connected in bi-amp schema. So, they arrived, I connected them to receiver, turned the music on and...felt down from coach trying to lower volume and lower base frequencies! Oh, boy! The sound was so loud and so powerfull! I do not know why people complains on lack of base.. they have lots of clear base sound! My Yamaha RX-V573 receiver has adjustable crossover, equalizer, and tone adjustment (high and low frequencies). The lower frequencies were at 0db, I set them on -3.5 db and I still have a lot of base! I set equalizer 400hz to -6db, 160hz to -3db, and 60db to 0 db, and I set crossover to 60hz. And now base guitar and drums sound like in live concert, no barrel echoes! And I do not need subwoofer anymore! :-))) Oh, and, by the way, scene is wide enough - no complains. None of the speakers of this size and price range in the store can beat ns555. I was wondering why this speakers not selling in store? And answer is clear - if people would hear them they wouldn't buy anything else, but ns555s! :-))))

[2-Way] Even selling now for twice the original cost of just over $300 for the pair...YES...just over $300 a pair, the NS-555's are a very good sounding speaker system that also sports a nicely finished housing simulating piano black lacquer! But be aware that over the a period of about 4 years of use this covering will start to pucker at the top and bottom of the speaker. But that has been the only real problem I've had with them, as they still deliver very good high end sound needing no sub-woofer regardless of what anyone else says!
