The Gra-Vue XIO 9030HDDEM-4AUD-1U 4-Channel Audio De-Embedderfrom Gra-Vue XIO 9030HDDEM-4AUD-1U 4-Channel Audio De-Embedderis a modular board for installation in XIO series rackmount frames. It splits off two user selectable stereo pairs from the SDI stream and outputs those via balanced terminal block connectors. In addition to being able to select the channels, it is also possible to select the de-embedding mode. For example, having the outputs follow the input channels, crossing the output channels, mixing output, and more. These setting are changed using DIP switches on the board.

The board features two mirrored SDI loop outputs so that video can be delivered to two downstream destinations without requiring a separate distribution amplifier. It will pass both SD and HD resolution signals, and supports bandwidths up to 1.5 Gb/s (HD-SDI).

Note: This version is configured for the 1RU frame. There is another model available if you use the 3RU frame.

[None] We are a Public Access station only able to broadcast in standard def. With live HD feeds coming in live other devices claimed but didn't produce the letterbox format we needed. Only issue is once you get the device and you want letterbox, you have to go to the Gefen site and download the fix for this requirement. Gefen should tell clients upfront. 5

[None] I've not had any issues with this product - it does its job well with no fuss. It's also very well made, including the connectors. I was unsure if it would totally strip the audio from the SDI feed (so that there was no audio on the looped output) but this is not the case. The output is 'untouched' and includes audio. 5

[None] Since I got my recent computer in 2013, I've been trying to get an output to my TV using the normal composite output, which the video card sadly doesn't have. (Although S-Video is an option for my TV as well, it sometimes doesn't detect it properly.) After having tried 3 other VGA to composite scan converters, I thought I would try this Gefen scaler and use the HDMI output on my video card. And it seems I made the right choice at last! While the previous scan converters suffered with a somewhat stuttery PAL output, the Gefen scaler isn't really all that bad at it. It is a little bit stuttery here and there, but nothing to get in a fuss about. When I watched a TV show using it, it wasn't noticeable at all. The image quality is pretty fine, and like it promised, it gives you a choice of resolutions. You'd probably want to stick to about 1024 768 pixels to read stuff from your computer, or otherwise it gets too tiny for your television. I tried both the S-Video and composite outputs, and they were both very good. I also tried it with my XBOX 360, and it worked fine with that too. The underscan setting is just right for my TV, if you want to get the whole image on your screen without anything cropped. It was nice to see that the power supply works from 100 to 240 V, and it also came with a set of Australian style pins, which I was happy to use! (It also had USA, British and possibly European ones too.) The metal case seems rugged and the screw in style HDMI plug is a good idea to keep it from being pulled out. All in all, it seems very well made, and it looks pretty nice as well. 5
