An aluminum friction washer really does a good job in preventing slippage after you set the angle.If you are planning to attach it to top of the 5/8 vertical pin on a light stand, please do ensure that vertical pin is long enough to give you enough land & stability. Better if you can the pin rather than the aluminum section of your stand.
