The Samsung NX mount Rokinon 8mm T3.1 Cine Fisheye II Lens Samsung NX Mountis a prime fisheye lens specifically designed for APS-C sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 12mm and full 180° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for creative applications as well as interior and architectural subjects. Its fast T3.1 maximum aperture is further beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, the lens' design features a built-in lens hood and a UMC coating has been applied to the lens elements to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery.

This lens' cine design incorporates geared aperture and focus rings for use with traditional follow focuses. Additionally, the aperture ring has been de-clicked for silent, smooth iris adjustment during recording.

Fisheye lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 12mm, making it ideally suited for interior and architectural subjects.

Fast T3.1 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions in order to produce sharper images.

UMC coating improves light transmission and suppresses lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich, color-neutral images.

Built-in lens hood also helps to reduce lens flare and surface reflections.

Geared aperture and focus rings are compatible with standard follow focuses for greater control over adjustment.

De-clicked aperture ring facilitates smooth, quiet exposure adjustments during recording.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this lens have full coverage on a full frame sensor?

A: Will this work on a Canon 5D Miii?

Q: 2. Does this fit a Canon C200, 6D, and/or a 5D Mark lll?

A: Yes, the Rokinon 14mm T3.1 Lens is compatible with the Canon C200, 6D, and 5D Mark III.

Q: 3. the lens is made from plastic or metal ?

A: These lenses are of a high quality plastic.

Q: 4. Does Rokinon 8mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fisheye CS II Lens is working with full frame E mount cameras like sony alpha 7?

A: The Rokinon 8mm Fisheye lens is designed for APS-C sized sensors. You could mount it on an A7, but the camera would need to be turned to its crop mode. To take advantage of the A7's full frame sensor you could look in to the Rokinon 12mm T3.1 Cine DS Fisheye Lens instead.

Q: 5. I can't get this to mount properly to my Nikon D3200. When mounted it says lense not attached. Any ideas?

A: Have you tried switching the camera to manual ? Our son did this and it works, outside of that there is nothing else I can add.

Q: 6. Is this lens compatible with Canon T3i ?

A: Yes it is

Q: 7. working in A99? 8mm?

A: This 8mm lens can only fully cover an APS-C sensor and on the A99 you would need to manually select the APS-C crop since this lens does not talk with the camera. However, you can remove the lens hood, select Full Frame and get an interesting look with most of the image a circle surrounded by black. The top and bottom of horizontal images will be cut off.

Q: 8. Will this work on a Panasonic GH-4?

A: It will not. The GH4 uses the Micro 4/3 mount, this lens is 4/3 mount.

Q: 9. Does this lens fit on a Canon 5d mark III?

A: Sorry, no, it does not for two reasons. 1. This lens is for a mirrorless camera and is designed to be closer to the sensor. This has the advantage of reducing the lens and camera size. However, if you were able to mount the lens on a 5D Mark III, this lens would be forced to be too far away from the sensor and consequently it could not focus. 2. Even if you could mount it and focus it still would not work because it cannot make an image that would cover the entire sensor. Thus you would get too small a circle image with a great deal of black surrounding it.For your application you can use the Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 ED AS IF NCS UMC Fisheye Lens for Canon EF Mount. See attached link.

Q: 10. Is there any major difference between this lens and the Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II Lens for Sony E Mount?

A: Optically they are very similar. The difference is how they are physically designed for different purposes. Therefore the 8mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fisheye CS II is for cine use (note the gears for follow focus and aperture) and the 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II Lens is for photo use. Select the lens for your primary use.

[T3.1] Can't complain. Good quality, some distortion as expected but still looks good on blackmagic pocket camera.

[Super35/APS-C] I shoot tons of skateboarding and have owned a handful of different fisheyes for all sorts of cameras over the last 10 years or so. I recently purchased this lens to use with the Sony A7s (in APS-C mode) for shooting video and I could not be happier. This is definitely THE BEST fisheye I have ever owned. Not only does it cover the full frame corner to corner (no vignetting), but it manages to fit a wider angle of view than I have ever had with a full-frame fisheye before. Also, the de-clicked aperture is a must for shooting video and comes extremely handy while going from shade to sun or vise versa. The lens is nice and sharp in the center and only softens a little bit at the edges, but that is not a surprise with a fisheye this wide. The last benefit for me is having the removable lens hood. Many fisheyes have a hard-mounted hood, which if broken, cannot be easily replaced. This one can. Buy one. Buy one now!

[Samsung NX] I use this for storm photography and it captures the entire storm. No mor stitching images together.

[Samsung NX] I needed a specialty lens for some creative video work recently. I looked at this and the Laowa 15mm and also the Irix Firefly lenses. Why did I pick the Rokinon? Because Rokinon makes great lenses at a better price point. Additionally, the look that I needed for this instance didn't require all of the other bells and whistles. I'm only using this lens for those shots for a specific effect. The Rokinon 8mm is a fisheye lens that doesn't show the barrel either. That's what I liked most. It is a nice and more than decently sharp for what I needed. If you need that wide look without breaking the bank, the Rokinon 8mm is the one.

[Samsung NX] I shoot a lot of documentaries. I travel overseas and shoot in touch locations. This fish eye gives great energetic images without breaking the bank. It is affordable enough that I am willing to take a few extra risks that I'd maybe be more cautious about were it a lens costing 2 or three times as much.
