The black, Micro Four Thirds mount Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Lens for Micro Four Thirdsis a prime wide-angle lens designed specifically for use with Micro Four Thirds sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 24mm and a broad 83° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for architectural, interior, and landscape images. Its fast f/2.0 maximum aperture is further beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you adapt this to a sony e mount w/o vignetting?

A: You surely can mount vignetting but I don't know about adapting to Sony

Q: 2. Is this lens compatible with the Sony Alpha a7R iii?

A: Yes and no. It will fit the camera, but it is meant for the APS-C crop sensor. It will vignette unless the camera is set to Super35/APS-C mode,

Q: 3. Will this lens work with the Panasonic GH cameras (ie, GH3, GH5) or will I need to get a Fotodiox adapter?

A: This is a Micro Four Third Lens, it will go on Panasonic GH3 or GH5 Cameras, without any adapter. Please note, this is a manual lens, no auto focus no auto aperture. But it is a great wide angle lens.

Q: 4. I have a SONY Alpha 7. This lens says it's for APs-c sensor. Will I lose the full frame sensor on the Alpha 7 when I use this lens? If it can be used on Alpha 7, what effective 35m focal will it have?

A: Since it is a manual lens, the A7 will not automatically crop it, unless you put the camera in APS-C On Mode. If you use it without cropping, it will be showing a wide black frame with a round shape in the middle. I often do the cropping in Lightroom, instead of letting the camera do it. The cropped picture size will be 3936 x 2624. The effective focal lens is roughly about 18mm.

Q: 5. Will this with on the OSMO x5 camera setup? Will this have auto focus with the x5 camera or on the gh4?

A: This is a manual lens it won't autofocus on anything. BUT! With such a wide angle if you set the focus between infinity and the first marked distance, shoot at f/5.6 or f/8 and everything is in focus from about three feet to infinity. I seldom focus except for shots at wide apertures or closer than three feet.

Q: 6. Is this lens manual focus only? I'd be using it with a G7 and was curious if I can us AF or if it has to be MF?

A: Manual focus only. No auto focus. But frankly, I enjoyed the manual focus. It makes you think about the composition of the picture before snapped the shot. In daylight situations, you can stop it down and set the focus at about 10 feet and shoot all the pictures you want. Most will be in focus.

Q: 7. Trying to wrap my brain around this. Will this lens work on the new pxw-fs5?

A: Yes, it should work but you should get the cine version.

Q: 8. Is the focal length 12mm or 18mm? Specs are confusing and state both under the focal length section. I have the Sony 18-135 so will this lens be wider?

A: The Samyang lens is 12mm on Sony APS-C E-mount cameras (A6000 series, NEX series, etc). Its equivalent focal length is 18mm if used on a full frame E-mount camera (Sony A7). I use this lens on both my Sony NEX-6 & NEX-7. It's very sharp. Your 18-135mm lens at 18mm is equivalent to 27mm if used on full frame camera (Sony A7). So yes, the view on Samsung 12mm lens is much wider than your 18-135. It is made specifically for APS-C cameras & not recommended to use on full frame cameras.

Q: 9. Will this work on Panasonic G85?

A: Yes, any micro four thirds lens will work on the G85.

Q: 10. What's the difference between this listing of the Rokinon 12mm f2.0 and this one (in the link)?a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1039948-REG/rokinon_rk12m_e_12mm_f_2_0_ncs_cs.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1039948-REG/rokinon_rk12m_e_12mm_f_2_0_ncs_cs.html/a

A: I'm not sure if I'm following the question or not. The listing shown in the link for the Rokinon 12mm Sony E-mount lens for APSC looks to be the same as the one in the question notes. I have the Samyang version of this lens and I think it is great. There is no difference between the Samyang and the Rokinon, other than label and (usually) price. Typically, the Rokinon version is a bit less money. Anyway, these are both. Are by the same company and they are the same lenses. If you are looking for a wide angle prime lens and don't mind manual focus, I recommend this lens wholeheartedly. It is excellent in color and clarity. I have the Zeiss 12mm also. It is great as well. But, you can't go wrong with the Rokinon/Samyang. I love the manual focus for landscapes and astrophotography. It seems much more reliable to me. And, for this focal length, once you get past f5.6, pretty much everything is in focus when you are at infinity anyhow. I hope this helps.

[f/2] I wanted a fast, wide lens and this is performing as expected. I know there's better (and much more expensive) glass out there, but I can't detect any flaws in this one.

[67 mm (Front)] My only gripe is they always want us to review quickly before we've had a lot of time with a product. Shooting for over fifty years, I've used a lot of glass both good and bad. I'm not a pixel peeper, but this is good glass. I love having an actual aperture ring on a lens again. Manual focus has not been a problem even for my old, but experienced eyes. My E-PL6 does not have focus peaking, but I do have the good VH-4 eye level viewfinder. Focusing on the back screen is more difficult. With a 24mm equivalent lens focus is only critical when you're at wide apertures and/or pretty close to the subject. Actually after years of autofocus lenses, good manual focus feels great, and actually may be an advantage on this focal length. I so pleased I plan to purchase another short telephoto Samyang or Rokinon.

[Manual Focus] My Fuji X-Pro is my travel camera. I use the Fuji 18-55 zoom as my basic lens and as such, the mid range is well covered. I wanted striking photos that didn't overlap this range and the Samsung 12mm F2.0 was what I wanted to try. It is manual focus but the very wide depth of field give it a broad range without fiddling with the focus. It works well. You must set the body to manual focus when using it and set the menu to the shoot without lens setting. If you do not, the shutter will not release and you must hunt through the menu to find it, as the supplied instructions were based on the X-Pro1 prior model. This stays and there seems no down side to it. The body manual focus switch needs to be reset when I change back to the zoom. It produces sharp ultra wide (18mm equivalent) photos and is reasonably priced. Using the manual apperture it is possible to hyper focus. I use a menu setting that provides visible fringing on in-focus area of the scene that is helpful as a depth of field check. The fit and finish are good, but visually different from Fuji lenses. All in all, a good purchase that met my needs and exceeded its price point.

[5 x 4.8 x 4.8"] Using this lens to shoot anything from product to indoors to astro. Paired with the X-T2 it is great and I would recommend other photographers to give it a go. The service from B&H when buying this lens was excellent.

[67 mm (Front)] You get what you pay for when it comes to photography, but this lens delivers a lot more bang for the buck. It's manual, you need focus peaking, and it's designed to be used on current mirrorless gear so I would stay away from this if your gear does not meet any or all of the aforementioned. The quality is spot on for my kind of shooting on the streets. Love the f/2 which juices low-light shooting possibilities without having to rank up that ISO on small gear.

[Manual Focus] As a Fuji X user I wanted a wide angle lens but one that was fast and would double for astro-photography. This covered both needs. Although I would have liked auto-focus and this is my first manual lens, it is easy to focus a 12mm with or without focus peaking. I considered the Rokinion 12mm for more, but B&H recommended the Samyang as they are the same lens, just different label. The build quality is excellent although using a plastic body it feels great in the hands, focus and aperture rings are smooth. I'm pleased with the pictures I have taken although I'm not a pixel peeper it is perfect for what I purchased it for. I still have my heart set on the Fuji 10-24 but at close to a grand and much heavier, the Samyang will join the Fuji 35mm in my backpack for when I head out on hikes.

[67 mm (Front)] GOOD for Astrophotography and Landscape. Everything is manual, so you need a nice tripod to stabilize your camera. Then you will get a crystal clear image definitely.

[5 x 4.8 x 4.8"] This manual focus lens has been so nice to bring around and shoot landscapes with. For its focal length it has a nice small size compared to others. Also, great value for price. Get this over the Rokinon since its basically the same manufacturer.
