Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it difficult to get consistent steady flowing slides with this without it being motorized?

A: Operating a slider manually will take some practice to get down smoothly, but it is very possible with this slider.

Q: 2. What type of tripod would be best to use this? The one I have doesn’t have a head that will work.

A: A tripod without a head would need to have a 3/8 16 male screw to attach to the Axler 30" Lightweight Carbon Fiber Camera Slider. The Benro parts below would work as will the same model with a head. Benro 75mm Half Ball Adapter BH #BEBL75S Benro A373T Aluminum Video Tripod (75mm Bowl) BH #BEA373T or Benro A373F Aluminum Single-Tube Tripod with S8Pro Fluid Video Head BH #BEA373FBS8P

Q: 3. Can I use it for My Blackmagic Cinema Camera?

A: Yes - it will fit a 1/4 -20standard female bushing. But the BMDCC is much larger and heavier than the GoPro camera this accessory was designed for.

Q: 4. Can I put my tripod on here?

A: I'm afraid not. This dolly is very compact, it is not wide enough for a tripod. However it does have a 3/8 -16 threaded hole in the center for mounting flat base tripod heads, such as the Manfrotto 502HD (B&H #MAMVH502AH). If you are looking for an option that will work with a tripod you may want to look at the Glide Gear SYL-960 Floor/Track Hybrid Tripod Dolly (B&H #GLSYL960) and their Straight Track option (B&H #GLSYL101).

Q: 5. Can the feet be purchased separately? I already have the slider.

A: For additional feet, please contact the distributor directly. info@gradusgroup.com.

Q: 6. Can I mount this onto my Manfrotto MVH500A Tripod?

A: Yes you can. It has a 3/8 and 1/4 thread. So either will do it for you. I don't particularly have the MVH500, but I happen to know it'll fit based on the threads. I do suggest mounting it onto a tripod head and then mount another head on top of that.

Q: 7. Do you carry the V-Motion motor kit for this product?

A: The Rat Rig 39" Single Rail V-Slider (B&H# RAV100) can be used with three motor products that we carry. First, there is the Rat Rig V-Motion Standard Motor (B&H# RARRVMM2GP, https://bhpho.to/3L2qezP). For speedier movement, there's the Rat Rig V-Motion Fast Motor (B&H# RARRVMM3GP, https://bhpho.to/3MJl7FH). If you are shooting a time lapse, use the Rat Rig V-Motion Time-Lapse Motor (B&H# RARRVMM1GP, https://bhpho.to/43AlVmA).

Q: 8. What are the actual dimensions and weight?

A: This weighs 3 ounces and is 2.5” tall.

Q: 9. What is the max load that can be hanged under the slider on the full 20' length tubing?

A: The max load of the RigWheels Complete Monorail Kit with 20' PortaRail Speed Rail is 40 lb.

Q: 10. Is lubricant recommended for smoother slides/reduced jitter, or will it cause issues?

A: Definitely a little lubriction would make it a smoother ride. More than jitter, its an uneven friction what I experienced with no lubricant.

[40" (1 m)] I just got my ratrig v35.... its slides flawlessly... its a manfrotto killer..... i only saw a design flaw...when u purchase the slider without leg.. u cant use it on flat surface you need to elevate one side coz it will not be balance because of the metal plate on the bottom middle part, which has the thread on it... how i wish they could have design the green plastic bigger covering the bottom both edges that levels the metal plate at the bottom.. but all in all for 89$ its worth it..

[3.5 lb (1.6 kg)] This is my second slider. I previously had a REVO 23 which was smooth and longer, but I found I really only used the middle 14. I decided to get this Rat Rig slider because it was smaller and it seemed to have a better sliding mechanism. I couldn't be happier. I leave it on my tripod all the time and it hardly gets in the way, unlike the REVO that needed to be attached only for slide shots because it was so unwieldy. This slider is also great for macro close ups when you need to bring your lens closer to your subject.

[3.5 lb (1.6 kg)] RigWheels product is a good solution for many videographers. For me, as a cinematographer, each rigwheels component makes me easy to build my own idea for dolly. I would recommend it to everyone.

[3.5 lb (1.6 kg)] Simple and easy to use, it fits in my camera bag , I am able to bring it to any live event without being obtrusive. I mainly shoot weddings, so bringing a 39 slider with me it just not practical. I am able to leave the slider on the tripod for a duration of a shoot. The feet must be purchased separately. The slider has 1/4 and 1/8 threads, and appears to be well crafted with sturdy material, a good buy at $89.

[1.65" (41.9 mm)] I've been wanting to purchase a slider for my wedding video business for some time, and have been looking at the many models, lengths and reviews here on B&H's site. I wanted something that wasn't too large or unwieldy, fairly light in weight, but also built strong so that it could handle the rigors of the job without breaking. I also required one that operated smoothly, easily and quietly, and that would enable me to capture some great movement shots of people, objects and scenery. The 24 Rat Rig has happily met all those requirements! It has a very solid build, and I suspect it will hold up well under use. The optional legs I purchased with it, are also very sturdy, and attached easily and securely to the main slider body as well. They are very adjustable, and will level the Rig with ease too. I thought very seriously about getting the longer version, but then thought about the length of shots I typically need in my wedding shoots, and how that might apply to the length of shots on a longer rig. The length of most shots I need in my productions, other than those that focus on a speech or longer talking scene, often run around six to ten seconds. So, the 24 slider fits my needs perfectly since that is about the amount of time it takes to slowly slide the camera along the Rat Rig track. For me, the longer slider is not necessary and would be overkill based on my needs. My only single complaint is the drag screw that slows the slider's rate of movement. It's not as smooth as I'd like it to be when in a tighter position (slowing the slider's speed). It's a little too loose, or a little too tight. What I mean by that is that when it's loose, it doesn't seem to provide as much drag as I'd like on the slider, and it slides along a little too easily... or faster than I'd like it to. When the screw is too tight, it tends to stick here and there, and thus produces uneven movement in your scene. Not sure what the solution is here. Maybe a teflon screw?

[3.5 lb (1.6 kg)] Love those collapsible rails. Strong, and extremely smooth joints.
Use them with my DanaDolly to make a winning combination.
