Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the ProMediaGear Quick Release Male Strap Adapter Plug be used with this plate?

A: The ProMediaGear Quick Release Male Strap Adapter Plug is only compatible with certain ProMedia plates--it is not compatible with the Desmond DPC-140 Long Lens Quick Release Plate.

Q: 2. There are three holes at one end. What is the center-to-center measurement between the holes?

A: 10mm on center / 6mm diameter

Q: 3. Work it with Acratech GP Ballhead?

A: Yes they are Arca Style

Q: 4. What size are the three holes at the end? Are they threaded?

A: These holes are not threaded. They are .256 or a tad over 1/4

Q: 5. This plate has an ARCA-style dovetail, but it doesn't fit my ball mount. I thought that the standard for ARCA was 40mm. What ball heads do you sell that mate to this plate?

A: This will fit any arca-swiss ballhead. The most popular ballheads sold for long lenses are Arca-Swiss (brand), Really Right Stuff, Sirui, Benro, Gitzo, etc. Try removing the safety stop screws on the bottom of the plate and see if that helps you slide the plate in.

Q: 6. What are the three holes on the one end for? Can Peak Design Anchor Links be used in them or would they get stripped against the edges?

A: According to the manufacturer, the three unthreaded holes opposite the twin backstop flange on the Desmond DPL-115 Long Lens Quick Release Plate (115mm) have no function other than to make the lens plate a little lighter in overall weight. While not designed for this usage, depending on the length of your lens' tripod collar's base, the Peak Design AL-4 Anchor Links may be used in one of the three holes.

Q: 7. Can I use this as a baseplate for my Sony 70 - 200 F4 Macro G OSS II, for the included lens collar?

A: Yes, the foot on the Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 Macro G OSS II Lens has a 1/4-20 thread and the anti-twist bars on the Desmond DPL-100 Long Lens Quick Release Plate (100mm) will prevent the lens from shifting.

Q: 8. Would it use on Nikon 70200 FL?

A: Yes, you can use this plate with the Nikon 70-200mm lens.

Q: 9. Would it work with Nikon 70200 len and Acratech GP Ballhead?

A: Yes it will

Q: 10. Hi, is this compatible with Benro S8 head?

A: No, the S8 does not have an arca-type release. You need to stay with the Benro plate system: https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1026243-REG target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1026243-REG/a

[Aluminum] I use this on my Sony RX10 (with its big zoom lens) to help balance the load when on a tripod. This puts less strain on the ball head, and ensures no motion. Works great! Lightweight and strong, too.

[1/4"-20] Bought it for Nikon 200-500mm. Good build quality, it gives a stable support for long lens and easy to hold entire camera with lens setup when walking around. You don't need to spend $$$ on after market lens collar.

[Aluminum] Using on older heavy 400 and 600mm medium format lenses and it's rock solid.

[Aluminum] When attached in the center of the lens's foot, (as a T handle), this is what the original foot should have been, You can EASILY carry the camera body by holding the lens from the bottom. Obviously great on any Arca ball head. Similarly with the 300mm f/4. The Oly Arca implementation is too short/stubby. Nice finish from what appears a solid piece of milled metal, not like some others that are castings.

[2.3 oz / 66 g] Just what I needed for my sigma 150-600 so I could balance the lens on my gimbal to keep my lens from wanting to tilt forward. Great price and well made. Just be aware that the stops aren't much help on the sigma lens foot but if the lens is balanced it's not that big of a deal.

[Aluminum] Truly a bargain for affixing to an Arca standard ball head AND to carry the lens/body combo while walking.

[0.2 lb] I ordered this not knowing that my ProMediaGear GKJr. Katana Pro Aluminum Gimbal Head came with its own plate. I'm glad I ordered this one because when I put the ProMediaGear one on my Sigma 150-600mm lens foot, the plate wouldn't go far enough forward. With the ProMediaGear plate on, I couldn't wrap my right hand around my camera (D850) - the plate was in the way. With the Desmond DPL-150 I was able to slide the plate forward enough to where it didn't interfere with my right hand.

The DPL-150 has two little raised ends, that once butted against the lens foot, and plate tightened, the camera and lens do not budge at all when turning left and right.

One thing to note is that my Sigma lens foot only has one screw hole, so that leaves the other screw to slide around. I put a stop to that by getting a compatible nut and tightened them.
