A: Doing a web search, I see the complaints are from folks using Canon DSLRs. I use this lens on a Nikon D810, and often add the 1.4 telextender, and NEVER experienced any problems. I used it on a recent 10-day photo trip, shooting more than 5,700 images and never noticed any abnormal battery use. The lens is an outstanding lens. For me, tack sharp at 600mm and even with the 1.4 telextender.
