Q: 10. What is the read/write speed of this model running at RAID-0? I want to buy a working RAID running at RAID-0 and a backup RAID running at RAID-6.

A: Preconfigured in Raid 5 (w/Blackmagic speed test) I got 828 write and 834 read. Once in Raid 10 (and walked through by tech support leaving all settings, sector sizes etc. in default) the test revealed 589 write and 629 read. I read in one of the reviews here that someone got 1,200 overall in Raid 5! I've got the latest Mac Pro w/processor 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, Memory 64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC, Thunderbolt 2... Don't know how they got that speed... Also, sorry I didn't answer your question about Raid 0 or Raid 6 speed. I saw people chiming in otherwise, and noticed at the moment this is the only speed related post here.

[3-Year ] I finally decided I had to upgrade to something for future-proofing my video editing workflow. The speeds are incredible, around 800mb/s read/write. The set up is very easy, it wakes from sleep very reliably. Comes very well packaged, and with a nice long thunderbolt cable. The fan is louder than my 2013 Mac Pro that is runs on, but it isn't distracting unless your room is dead silent. This beast will last me several years and I feel it's something I can trust.

[Extended] I've been using the Pegasus drive for 4 years now. Only had one problem when a drive died but the company replaced and no data was lossed due to RAID structure. This drive is essentially silent.

[3-Year ] I've been using this for 3 years, and I think that's the only way to really get to know how well a hard drive works. I have edited many many projects, ranging from SD to 5k, and the speed on this thing is great. So far, I have had absolutely no problems with the array. I even carry it to and from work sometimes so it has been jostled (not recommended) and put through some hardships. The only problem is that one hard drive failed recently, but the array showed me which one, and I was able to recover it just fine after hours of recreating the drive. I trust Promise Pegasus drives as much as any human being should EVER trust a hard drive of any type. So, I'm still cautious and wary of this hard drive, but it has been good to me for many years and I look forward to more video editing with it.

[3-Year ] Promise is a good name as his device looks great and just implies confidence iand reliability right out of the box. Superbly well packed, my Pegasus was ready to go despite whatever it may hav experienced along its travels. A nice surprise was the inclusion of a thunderbolt cable which I was led to believe was not included. The device is painless to set up and immediately began its initialization process without a hitch. Promise really has a winner here with a quiet running solid platform for one's irreplaceable data. B&H gets special mention as a vendor, I was amazed first by the competitive price and then how they practically beamed this device to my overseas office. B&H's rapid order processing and shipping beats th competition hands down!

[Extended] Pegasus RAID's are great, but they should have longer, and extendable warranties. Ince the warranty is up, if you have a problem? Promise says tough poop. they won't even service the units.

[3-Year ] A serious amateur photographer shooting in RAW with a Nikon D4 I create a lot of pictures with file sizes ranging from 8 to 25megs each. Needless to say, they require a lot of storage space. The Pegasus2 R6 is an elegant solution. With a thunderbolt connection to my Mac Pro the speed is amazing-it's like working on your primary harddrive (the new Mac Pro has no harddrive bays). It is more expensive than other solutions, but the speed and reliability with built in RAID 5 technology makes it worth it to me. Set up was a snap--just plug it in and let it set itself up-in my case about 15 to 20 minutes.
