Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the Sony PMW FX9 with standard lens too heavy for this tripod leg and head setup?

A: No, the Sachtler aktiv6 Sideload Fluid Head can hold up to 17.6 lb and the Sony FX9 weighs 4.4 lb.

Q: 2. How tall is this head from the bottom of the pan drag ring to the top most plate?

A: Unfortunately, this specification is not explicitly provided by manufacturer, and since we have not yet received the product (as of this writing), we are unable to physically verify for your inquiry.

Q: 3. Can this go frictionless on the horizontal?

A: Yes, you can set the Sachtler aktiv8 Sideload Fluid Head to have zero friction.

Q: 4. What is the overall weight of this 10T tripod system? It looks almost too light.

A: The Sachtler aktiv10T Touch & Go Fluid Head is just the head. No tripod included. The head weight is - Weight 6.6 lb / 3 kg

Q: 5. I read some of the reviews. They were saying that the panning have issue with high resistance. Is it true that the bowl base will not be able to keep up with the resistance applied at the highest ?

A: This should not be the case if properly installed and balanced within its load capacity.

Q: 6. Can this be used with manfrotto legs? Will any functionality be lost?

A: no, currently it is only compatible with Sachtler legs. Sachtler is developing accessories in order to make aktiv compatible with other tripods as well.

Q: 7. For the 10 and 8 model, beside 100mm vs 75mm bowl, the weight and height. Any difference between it? Like the drag at 7 is same?

A: The only difference between the Sachtler aktiv8 Sideload Fluid Head with SpeedLevel & 7-Step Drag for Sachtler Tripods (75mm) and the Sachtler aktiv10 Sideload Fluid Head with SpeedLevel & 7-Step Drag for Sachtler Tripods (100mm) is the additional weight and the 100mm bowl size.

Q: 8. What is the minimum (not maximum) weight required for balancing a camera on the Activ 6? Minimums are Important.

A: The minimum weight for balancing on the Sachtler aktiv6 Sideload Fluid Head with SpeedLevel & 3-Step Drag for Sachtler Tripods (75mm) will depend on the center of gravity height. You can see the graph for that here: https://bhpho.to/3TrcJwo.

Q: 9. Is the aktiv8 head compatible with VCT style quick plates?

A: The sideload system is really great, especially with a fully rigged up camera. The "Touch&o" system requires a propriety (and expensive) plate, so I don't recommend that. I presume you could easily use this with a VCT system, as there is a flat surface on the bottom of the bowl. That said, look into the "speed swap" system that could also attach to a VCT system. I need a VCT system for my shoulder rig, so this is important to me.

Q: 10. Is there any downside (other than price) for getting a higher payload head like the Aktiv8, but using it mostly with low weight cameras? I want to get a higher payload head just in case I need to use it for a heavy camera rig, but if it is going to make low weight rigs less optimal to use, maybe it’s not the best approach.

A: No. Other than price, there really are no downsides, as this head is rated for 0 to 26.5 lb / 0 to 12 kg.

[62 mm] This ring allows use of standard threaded filters on my Hasselblad
80/2.8 lens, and fortunately it is just small enough that I can use both
this and the B60 Lens Hood (also made by FotodioX) at the same time.

[62 mm] I've used a wide variety of step-up rings over the decades. This one is smoother and stronger than the cheaper ones I have used so I recommend it without reservation.

[62 mm] Best used to eliminate reflections. Used shooting through water/window/glass panes (store fronts, various display cabinets, aquarium tank glass, Recreation Vehicle windscreens, airplane windows, etc..) and to remove reflections from polished stone surfaces (Marble, Granite, Tile, and China).

[0.75 mm] Using this for landscapes on the 14-24mm Nikkor. Fits straight on the Wonderpana system. Would buy the skinny version to leave an extra slot free on the FreeArc rather than this one.

[0.75 mm] I use this on my Mamiya 645 80mm 2:8 as I have 62mm B&W 10 stop and 3 stop ND filters. It works perfectly...the filters screw in effortlessly. This is exactly why I buy B&W products. When I am shooting in the field, I do not want anything less.

[0.75 mm] In typical B&W fashion, this ring appears to be made perfectly. Inner and outer threads are very smooth.
