Q: 1. Hello. I have the f3 zoom. Is this adapter necessary with phanton power??? because the f3 has the option to give phantom power. I don't understand very well what it would be used for

A: The RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter would be used when you have a lavalier microphone with a 3.5mm connector, and you want to connect it to an XLR input. Lavalier microphones require a certain type of power, which is different from the 48v phantom power provided by XLR audio recorders. This adapter can convert that 48v phantom power to the special plugin power the lavalier needs. Compatibility will depend on the specific model of your lavalier.

Q: 2. is this needed for zoom h6 and rode wireless go?

A: No. The adapter you want is the Rode VXLR (B&H # ROVXLR) since you only need to convert the 3.5mm plug to XLR. The VXLR+ is used when you are using a condenser style microphone like a lavalier mic with a 3.5mm connector and need to connect it to an XLR mic input on a recorder or mixer. For instance, if you have a separate lavalier mic that you use with the Wireless GO transmitter, such as the Rode Lavalier GO, it is a condenser mic that requires plug-in power, which is a low voltage. A recorder or mixer's XLR input can supply phantom power, which is typically 48V and way too much power for a lavalier mic. The VXLR+ converts the 48V to a much lower voltage and allows you to use a mic like the Lavalier GO which requires 2.7V and connect it directly to an XLR input on the H6.

Q: 3. Will this work with VC1 3.5mm 10' Extension cable that requires a plugin power or do I need VXLR Pro ?

A: Yes the Rode VC1 extension cable will work with the Rode VXLR+ adapter.

Q: 4. If I want to connect my Røde videomicro to a recorder or mixer with an XLR input should I use this and switch on phantom power or will a dummy 3.5mm to XLR suffice without phantom power?

A: The VideoMicro does require plugin power. So yes, you will use the VXLR Plus to convert Phantom to Plugin.

Q: 5. Can this convert unbalanced TRS to balanced XLR?

A: This adapter will not balance the microphone signal. You can use it to connect stereo 3.5mm wired microphones to XLR inputs. This version does have a transformer balanced output: https://bhpho.to/2WQbqxK

Q: 6. I'd like to use the 9V battery powered Rode Videomic (VIDEOMIC-R) to connect with a Zoom PodTrak P4. Will a standard VXLR converter work with that, or do I need this VXLR+ for it? Thanks!

A: With 9V battery installed, the standard VXLR converter will work.

Q: 7. Can this allow me to use a RODE videomicGO on a SONY HXR-NX100? The Sony only has XLR inputs.

A: It should. I use it on all my cameras that have XLR inputs and it works great.

Q: 8. Does this work with the Deity D3 pro microphone ?

A: No. Because the D3 is self powered you can use the regular VXLR https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387850-REG/Rode_VXLR_VXLR_Mono_Mini_Jack.html

Q: 9. Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Mic With a Sennheiser 3.5 EW connector work properly with this adapter please?

A: My previous answer may be inaccurate. Some COS-11D microphones are 48V Phantom and some are +3V to +10V. You will need to determine the power requirements of your microphone. The VXLR Plus provides 5 Volts.

Q: 10. Does this work with the Sennheiser MKE2 Gold EW lapel mic?

A: Yes it will.

[Whirlwind] I have run a production company since the mid 80's and I have spent good money on bad products way too many times. Whirlwind has always been top of the line and I have many of their wiring products. These cables are another great product by Whirlwind. Don't waste money on cables that will fail within a few shows. Buy these and you'll be set for life.

[5.3 x 4.95 x 1"] I am loving my new XLR cable. I came into B&H not knowing which cable i needed and how much they were. The adviser in the pro audio department went through a few options and I picked the Whirlwind 6 ft cable. It was a great price and great quality. I'm going to come into b&h more often to buy all my equipment.
