This model features an illuminated eyepiece at a 90° angle from the scope for comfortable viewing. Also, the deep red illumination is variable and can be turned off via a knob.

The Polar finder scope has Northern and Southern polar reference markings that allow for quick and precise alignments when used in conjunction with an equatorial mount due to an easy to use polar alignment crosshair reticle. Both the eyepiece and main objective can be focused for comfort to your eyes as well. Additionally, it produces a 7° field of view and has multi-coated optics for maintaining contrast. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this finder be adapted to a Celestron Nexstar SLT130?

A: This Finder Scope cannot be adapted onto that 130SLT Model. My sincere apologies. The mounts are very different.

Q: 2. Will a CG4 or LX70 EQ mount attach to this tripod?

A: Yes, they will

Q: 3. Is it’s dovetail foot suitable for Meade 6000 series 115mm refractor?

A: You would need this finder scope base: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1046161-REG/explore_scientific_fndrbaseblk_finder_scope_base.html

Q: 4. Does a skywatcher 130pds mount on this?

A: Yes it will

Q: 5. What is the load capacity?

A: About 12 lbs.

Q: 6. Will this dovetail work on a Meade 12" LX200 GPS SCT?

A: Th Meade 12" LX200 GPS SCT does not have any screw hole to accept a dove tail plate. If you are referring to the Dual-Ring Quick Release Bracket on the Explore Scientific 8x50 Erect Image Illuminated Polar Finder Scope, the Meade 12" has a much wider diameter then the Explore Scientific.

Q: 7. Is this a vixen dovetail mount?

A: It does not have a Vixen dovetail.

Q: 8. is the bracket a universal dovetail bracket? and what does the illuminated feature look like? like a red dot or what?

A: I have an older Meade LX200 12 , and the dovetail bracket did not fit my scope. I used my existing bracket and placed this finder inside of it. The illumination lights up a crosshair. Instead of simply being two lines that cross over one another, there is an open circle at the center of the crosshair. The included redlight isn't very good though, and I plan to replace it with a model from another manufacturer.

Q: 9. What is the weight of the tripod amount? Not the shipping weight but the actual net weight.

A: The tripod in the Explore Scientific FirstLight EXOS Nano Mount with ST1 Tripod kit weighs 17 pounds according to the manufacturer.

Q: 10. Will the base fit onto stock ES 80ED CF? Can it be used on ES 80ED CF for AP manual guiding ?

A: Yes it will fit your scope and can be used for manual guiding.

[1.6 lb (712 g)] I have three ES ultra wide angle eyepieces. They all hefty and feel very well built. Well worth the money.

Using this 20mm on my 12" dob. I have the ES 82 degree 30mm and ES 100 degree 5.5.
Discounting the magnification, the 20mm feels like the sharpest of the three.

[8x] Great ep for friends who wear eyeglasses. Long eye relief, great views.

[1.715 lb] I put this eyepiece on my Celestron EdgeHD 8. It is about the widest FOV that I could pull off the OTA. The view is really crisp with point stars to the edge. I can't see any edge brightening or vignetting. The resolution is enough to clearly see the four stars of M42 Trapezium, Jupiter bands, Saturn rings, and even, barely, Saturn cloud bands.
The eye relief is comfortable to view the entire field, without glasses.
This is a hefty piece. Not a problem on an 8 SCT, but may be awkward on a smaller OTA.

[50 mm] I don't know much about eyepieces but I do have 4 explorer scientific. The 4.5mm and 8.5mm 82 degree, the 17mm 92 degree and the 30mm 82 degree.
I like them all but I really like the 17mm and 30mm.
I can't give any technical details but I can tell you that the 30mm is a pleasure to look through. The same can be said for the 17mm. It would be hard to choose between the two if i could only have one. I guess I would have to go with the 17mm because of the wide field of view plus greater magnification but i would really miss the 30mm.
And I would definitely go with B&H, i recently tried another store in NJ and got ........

[8x] Explore Scientific has really made a great finder scope here and it is a nice match for my ES AR152mm scope. Very solid and a sleek look. Very nice magnification and illumination.

[1.715 lb] Bought this eyepiece as a mid-power upgrade for my trusty 19mm Panoptic since it can give me a wider true field of view and more magnification and better eye relief all in one package. The views through it are stunning. It's sharper and more contrasty than the 19mm Panoptic. It's even a razor sharp planetary eyepiece which I was not expecting. Its sharpness and contrast revealed features in Jupiter's clouds that the 19mm Panoptic and 20mm Series 4000 Plossl I compared it with could not. There was no noticeable ghosting or light scatter - Jupiter was a crisp, clean orb just hanging out in a vast chasm of space. Using it in my 8 F/10 schmidt, the field is flat with no noticeable curvature. Stars exhibit coma at the edges, but that's due to the telescope, not the eyepiece. My only complaint is that eye placement is finicky in this eyepiece. Too close or too far away and you get blackouts. I would rate it as NOT comfortable to look through because of this, and takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it performs brilliantly.

[8x] The filter came boxed extremely well. I knew, right off the bat, the product was going to be great. Living in Eastern Idaho, one cannot be sure of the weather and cloud cover. I only had one chance to use it during our club's 5 star parties. 4 got rained out or cloud covered. The filter never got a good critique. I know it will be good and will send in a later review if I can get the scope to a dark site before the temp drops into the teens.

[8x] I purchased this coma corrector after reading online reviewer's recommendations. I'm using it on a 8" f/3.9 imaging Newtonian and after getting the spacing correct I have pinpoint stars across the field. I would recommend this corrector for anyone imaging with a fast scope, you will not be disappointed.
