[1.8 lb (0.8 kg)] Bought this eyepiece as a mid-power upgrade for my trusty 19mm Panoptic since it can give me a wider true field of view and more magnification and better eye relief all in one package. The views through it are stunning. It's sharper and more contrasty than the 19mm Panoptic. It's even a razor sharp planetary eyepiece which I was not expecting. Its sharpness and contrast revealed features in Jupiter's clouds that the 19mm Panoptic and 20mm Series 4000 Plossl I compared it with could not. There was no noticeable ghosting or light scatter - Jupiter was a crisp, clean orb just hanging out in a vast chasm of space. Using it in my 8 F/10 schmidt, the field is flat with no noticeable curvature. Stars exhibit coma at the edges, but that's due to the telescope, not the eyepiece. My only complaint is that eye placement is finicky in this eyepiece. Too close or too far away and you get blackouts. I would rate it as NOT comfortable to look through because of this, and takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it performs brilliantly.

[1.8 lb (0.8 kg)] This item fits the description. It has crystal sharp views and a very wide angle. Keep in mind it is quite a lot larger and heavier than the lower focal length eyepieces in this series.

[8 x 8 x 8"] This is pretty much my favorite eyepiece. Field of view and clarity are amazing; mix that with the 17mm magnification and it's my goto eyepiece for almost anything. If it were forced upon me I would happily use this as my only eyepiece for the rest of my life.

With that said, I must say that the rubber eyecup fell off within a couple days of use and I will need to figure out the repair myself (not a big enough issue to send back). Also, the plastic cap doesn't fit over the top of the eyepiece for storage? What is that about? It's from a different eyepiece model? I wouldn't expect these issues with an otherwise very high quality piece.

Even with these issues I am giving it 5 stars because they do not take away from the amazing viewing experience and overall quality.

[1.8 lb (0.8 kg)] I replaced my 2 inch 30mm GSO in my 8 DOB with this ES eyepiece and the clarity massively improved. Colors are good in Orion's nebula and a lot of Andromeda fits in it. This is my go to eyepiece for general looking around. Built like a tank and weighs as much as one. This eyepiece will out live me.

[8 x 8 x 8"] I have three ES ultra wide angle eyepieces. They all hefty and feel very well built. Well worth the money.

Using this 20mm on my 12" dob. I have the ES 82 degree 30mm and ES 100 degree 5.5.
Discounting the magnification, the 20mm feels like the sharpest of the three.

[1.8 lb (0.8 kg)] I don't know much about eyepieces but I do have 4 explorer scientific. The 4.5mm and 8.5mm 82 degree, the 17mm 92 degree and the 30mm 82 degree.
I like them all but I really like the 17mm and 30mm.
I can't give any technical details but I can tell you that the 30mm is a pleasure to look through. The same can be said for the 17mm. It would be hard to choose between the two if i could only have one. I guess I would have to go with the 17mm because of the wide field of view plus greater magnification but i would really miss the 30mm.
And I would definitely go with B&H, i recently tried another store in NJ and got ........
