Q: 1. Thank you for the informative video. Sekonic C-800: How to add new memory data to an existing Memory Title other than the last one in use? All new memory data seems to end on the last Memory Title in use regardless of the selection on the Memory Title folder. Selecting and/or Recalling a Memory Title doesn't work. F/W 20-11-11. The answer to this is not in User Manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A: For assistance with your inquiry concerning the Sekonic C-800 SpectroMaster Color Meter, I would recommend to contact Sekonic's Technical Support Department directly by e-mailing them at support@sekonic.com. You may also contact the manufacturer directly by phone by calling them at (914) 592-4156 during the business week, Monday ~ Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Eastern Time.

Q: 2. The Sekonic C-7000 industrial model can export a CSV file with spectral distribution data in 1 and 5-nm samples. Can the C-800 do this? The table in the software's manual would seem to indicate not.

A: I'm sorry, no.

Q: 3. Hello, if we get this mic, do i need anything more to install it on a table?

A: I installed it in a podium. I had to drill a hole to install the insert for the mic and ran the cable underneath. The mic then plugs into the cable when you put it in the holder.

Q: 4. To calibrate digital cinema projectors I need a color meter that reads reflected light: is there a spot attachment for the C-800?

A: There is no spot attachment. This is designed as an incident meter. Though if you took a reflective reading, at close range off of a color neutral surface it should work.

Q: 5. can i make this mic cordless? is these a piece what i can add to it it should get wireless ?

A: The Senal MXGN-18C 18" Gooseneck Condenser Microphone could be wirelessly extended using a wireless system such as BH #XVU3CSET.

Q: 6. Is this also a flash meter?

A: This is only a color meter

Q: 7. What are the main differences between this one and the C-700-U? Also does C-800 give you F-stop values like a lightmeter? Or should I get a different light meter for that purpose?

A: This is a color meter. While it can measure illumination levels in lux and footcandles, it does not measure in f/stops, shutter, ISO etc, etc. You do need a light meter for that. The main difference from the 700 is that the 800 can measure more types of light. In particular, it is the only affordable, movie technician meter that can measure the new color standard, Spectral Similarity Index (SSI) which is more reliable than CRI.

Q: 8. As an event video shooter our most challeging task is to record in uncontrolled light situations with multiple cameras and make them cut nicely in edit... with this meter will it allow us to know the most precise overall Kelvin temp of several ambient lights in a room and any magenta/green necessary adjustments? We have used grey cards but the cameras have crazy readings when we use the white balance setting based on those? specially yellow/green painted rooms and vivid green nature backgrounds...

A: This color meter can give you exact information based on the color of the light. Depending on where and how you meter relative to other lights you can get a combined reading or a reading per light. Color meters are more accurate than gray cards for setting white balance.

Q: 9. Is there are any other indexes can be used as a basis for performance when use the strobe light except the CCT/LB/CC index?

A: Only the CCT/LB/CC indexes are available when measuring strobes.

Q: 10. How much is calibration? How often is it required?

A: This meter comes fully calibrated from the factory and does not require calibration on a regular basis.

[0.6 lb] Simple good value. I like that all Arturia Microfreak had the hidden Vocoder capability and this mic (with the headphone out ) enables it elegantly.

I'd tend complain that as an accessory it wasn't included with the Microfreak but when Arturia priced it affordably (in contrast to teenage engineering accessories) and gave us the new Vocoder feature as a firmware add then it's really a gift. Love Arturia.

[Black] We use these in our studios for communication between the recorder and the reader. The ones that we originally had lasted us 15 years with no problems, until someone damaged the cable. The sound is clear and reliable and they hold up well with continual use!

[9 to 52 V] We have a large ballroom space in which the sound system was badly installed years ago. Not much headroom and the speakers are in the ceiling. None of my techs could decent sound off of a podium because they were using SM57s as podium mics. I ordered these and speeches sound much better. The system still needs work, but these are a vast improvement.

[Solid-State] I was expecting this thing to *sound* like a paging microphone. But it actually sounds really good. We're using it in a restaurant, and the cooks announce that orders are ready from the kitchen using an SM-58, and this mike is at the registers. It sounds just as good as the 58, so my client is very happy.

I would love to have a silicone pad to cover the base, so that grease and liquid won't get into it, but other than that, it's a great-sounding mike, and it worked perfectly right out of the box.
