The Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95 Type II MFT Lensis a bright, fast normal-length lens that provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 50mm when used on Micro Four Thirds Cameras. This manual focus, manual exposure prime lenses utilizes a Selective Aperture Control System, which permits switching between a stepless, de-clicked aperture selection method or a traditional aperture control method with click stops. When set to the stepless setting, silent and smooth exposure adjustments can be made that are especially beneficial when recording video.

The optical construction incorporates ultra-high refractive glass, which helps to minimize chromatic aberrations and produce imagery with notable clarity and sharpness. Ten aperture blades form a nearly circular diaphragm in order to produce and aesthetic out-of-focus quality that is especially noticeable when using selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.

Extremely bright and fast 25mm f/0.95 lens produces a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 50mm when used on a Micro Four Thirds camera.

Selective Aperture Control System produces a stepless, de-clicked aperture ring, which provides silent and smooth exposure adjustment that is well-suited for video application. The aperture ring can also be configured to utilize traditional click stops for more intuitive tactile control over exposure settings.

Ultra-high refractive glass is used within the optical design to reduce chromatic aberrations in order to realize immense image clarity and sharpness.

Fully manual focus and exposure lens features an all-metal lens barrel and a 10-blade diaphragm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is this lens t stop value?

A: This lens does not offer T stops.

Q: 2. Anyone use this lens with a camera that lacks image stabilization?I'm a wedding videographer currently shooting with G7s. All my lenses right now have IS, so I'm wondering if this lens will still perform well without any IS. All shooting will be on monopod, slider, or gimbal. Thanks!

A: It is a great lens, you just need to bring up your shutter speed one or two stops to prevent any possible noticeable camera shake.

Q: 3. what size is the filter thread?

A: The Voigtlander Nokton 10.5mm f/0.95 has a 72mm front filter thread.

Q: 4. Have anyone tried using these 0.95 lenses with 58-52 to step down rings? Is there vignetting?

A: This is 52mm filter thread lens , at 50mm focal length it should not vignette , or if you mean step up ring from 52 to 58mm there will not be a vignette

Q: 5. Will this lens fit on a Fujifilm X-T2 or Fujifilm X-E4 camera?

A: Unfortunately it is not compatible with those cameras. For those cameras the lens needs to have Fuji X mount.

Q: 6. Does this lens perform well enough wide open for astrophotography?

A: It would be recommended to step down the lens for this kind of work.

Q: 7. Is this lens compatible with the new Blackmagic 4K Cinema Pocket Camera?

A: Yes this lens has a micro four thirds mount which is compatible with the Blackmagic 4K but be aware that this is a fully manual lens. (No auto focus or electronic aperture control)

Q: 8. How many degrees of turn does the focus ring have?

A: We believe it is around 270 degrees.

Q: 9. Will the 10.5 mm produce any fisheye effect?

A: No, there is some distortion on the edges but minimal. Just a super wide angle lens.

Q: 10. What is improved in the Type II version? To simply say that it is improved means nothing. What did they do to it?

A: I am fairly certain the first version of this lens had a stepped aperture only. The newer version allows you to set the aperture to de-clicked mode so f-stop is infinitely adjustable - useful for shooting video. I'm not 100% positive, but I think that's the only change.

[1.365 lb] exceptional lens. Does not get any better than this. Super-duper at wide open..

[47.3°] I wanted a .95 lens to use at low light events with my EM1X that had a longer reach than my LUMIX 42.5 1.2. The colors and renderings at any f stop are remarkable. Shooting at .95 is difficult with anything that moves, but if there is a pause in the movement and you use this lens for capturing candids or still life's in a room, you will be rewarded with some jaw dropping results from .95. It's is a heavy well built metal lens. It does pair very well with a larger m4/3 body like the EM1X or G9. I really like this lens and look for excuses to use it when I'm not utilizing at event shoots. It is an all manual lens, and if you don't like shooting manually, then this lens is not for you. The sale price and my desire for a longer wider aperture prompted me to try this lens out.

[0.26x] I love the relatively shallow depth of field effects that I can now get on Micro 4/3. I thought the lens had terrible chromatic aberration problems wide open until I changed my Olympus camera setting from Vivid colors to Natural. The purple fringing is greatly reduced now and to the point of almost being non-existant even in high contrast and specular highlight areas.

[47.3°] Best optics!!!

[1.365 lb] I have three of the other Voigtlander lenses - 10.5, 17.5 and 42.5 f0.95. I like them all for many applications. Wide open, however, they have a slightly diffused quality but stopped down to f1.8 or smaller aperture they sharpen up enormously.

The 60 is entirely different. When I first looked through the lens wide open and focused, it seemed like f2 (even f2.2) on the other lenses - really sharp with lots of pop. The 60mm is more of a telephoto on M4/3 but close focuses for near macro magnification.

It is quite heavy, but manageable, and is very firm and precise in its handling. I can see how someone could not run around with this lens trying to follow fast and changing action. The focus throw is too long and not built for speed. But if you are shooting from a tripod for video, I can see how this lens brings lots to the table.

I am loving it. It is the best optical quality wide open of any lens I have ever owned (including many other brands). Unique lens for unique circumstances - a blast to use for many types of shooting.

[52 mm (Front)] It's just great, character, bookeh, sharpness.

Handling alone is a reason to get it, and you just WANT to take it and use it, photography is not just about taking pictures.

It's a prolonging pleasure to use this lens and to look at its results. I'm using it nearly all time wide open, the character - due to razor thin focus length is fantastic. If I had to choose it between the 42.5mm I would keep the 60mm.

Did I mention it also looks stunning? - even better than on pictures.

Once you have it in hands you will not let it go - lens like this is a reason to stick with mft.

[52 mm (Front)] Yes, it is large and heavy, but worth it. I have two other Voigtlander lenses for my Olympus Pen F bodies (17.5mm and 42.5mm). I am impressed with the mechanical quality and optical performance.

Wide open, it does have some visible chromatic aberration, but it goes away when stopped down a bit. Color saturation is really nice. An extra feature is that it focuses down to 1/4 life-size. Not quite Macro, but very useful.

I highly recommend the Voigtlander lenses. The build quality is high and the image quality is remarkable for being f0.95 lenses.

And, by using focus peaking, I don't miss auto-focus. In fact, the peaking shows what is and is not focused.

[f/16] I am using this on a feature shooting in available light with a JVC GY-LS300 4K camera, and it allows any shot, even in places too dark to see properly, with no increase in video gain. It is actually necessary to stop down often with available light only. Amazingly fast lens. The build quality is excellent, the image extremely sharp, and it has very good bokeh. It is fantastic lens overall.

[f/0.95] Superb build. Metal. It is heavier than Lumix. Metal Lens hood too, which is helpful. Solid focus ring with the right amount of resistance. Lovely bokeh. It's fast - sharpest just off the .95 but the ability to shoot that wide allows for some shots that would normally not be possible at all.

[f/0.95] Seriously, this lens is better than I expected. The build quality is phenomenal.. all metal and gorgeous glass. I have no problem with manual focus and sometimes quite prefer it. The focusing is silky smooth. The bokeh is beautiful, and give wonderful seperation of foreground and background.. you need an f .95 for that on mft... Or a minimum of 1.4. As some have said, there is some issue with chromatic aberration in certain light, but it is so easy to fix in post, that it doesn't really bother me. So far, this is the best 50mm equivalent I have used for this system.
