Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this need any additional equipment to be used with a Younguo speedlite?

A: This softbox already includes the appropriate mount for a Yongnuo shoe mount flash.

Q: 2. Will this ring fit the Profoto B10 ?

A: This ring will work with a B10.

Q: 3. what is the soft box compatible with this speed ring and the Lowel Omni light?

A: Sorry for the delay. I ordered the Photoflex Small LiteDome (17 x 22 x 13 ). According to the B&H website however, it says this has been discontinued. I was told the company went out of business. Try eBay?

Q: 4. Does this work with Norman LH2400 lights?

A: Yes it will fit Norman 900, Norman LH heads

Q: 5. Is there a speed ring adapter so I can use softboxes with a Bowen mount with my Omni lights

A: There are no Bowens mounts available. Only standard design speed rings that use poles are available.

Q: 6. Can this be used with the chimera pancake softboxes?

A: Yes, as long as your Tota lamp doesn't exceed the rating of 1500 watts. For any softbox, you absolutely must check the manufacturer's watt ratings. Lowell Totas typically use lamps at 500, 750, or 1,000 watts -- far too hot for most softboxes. Many softboxes are rated only for strobes or for flourescent lights, With these boxes, Tota lights present a serious fire hazard. Even if you're within the maximum rating, remove the inner fabric diffuser, open the vents, turn your lights off at every opportunity, and keep a fire extinguisher nearby.

Q: 7. Does this 48" octagon soft box Does this 34" octagon softobox works with the profoto b1x lights?

A: This octabox can be used with a Profoto B1x.

Q: 8. Can I use a Photoflex softbox with this Impact ring? The photoflex speed ring for Lowel Tota light looks identical to this, despite being a hundred dollars more expensive.

A: If the rings are the same size diagonally from rod plug-in point to plug-in point, it is probably physically possible to make this substitution. However, you will have to use one of Photoflex's softboxes which are constructed to be heat resistant. I bought an Impact kit of two large softboxes with rings and stands from B&H earlier this year because the Photoflex softboxes I own are for strobes and could never stand the heat from the 750watt quartz lamps in the Tota lights. The Impact boxes are constructed of fairly heavy material and actually have vent flaps in the side walls to let heat escape. I see that Photoflex offers at least one softbox meant for hot lights, but having never used it I can't offer any input on comparison with the Impact box. If you are looking to use an existing Photoflex softbox which is actually meant for strobe use, you may be flirting with disaster. I hope this helps.

Q: 9. Will this fit my Bowens softboxes?

A: I don't know.... I own Larson Soft boxes... And Paul Bluff. They work too. I modified the by omitting the ring with the Larsons.

Q: 10. Will this work well with an SB5000 Nikon Speedlight?

A: The FotodioX EZ-Pro Octagon Softbox (48", Bowens Speed Ring), B&H # FOEZP48OBBOW, is designed for use with light fixtures that use the Bowens S-mount speedring connector. As the Nikon SB-5000 Speedlight Flash does not have a built-in Bowens S-mount connection, you would need to purchase an adapter such as the Raya Reflector Adapter for Speedlight, B&H # RARAS, to use the FotodioX EZ-Pro Octagon Softbox with the Nikon SB-5000 Speedlight Flash.

[Dynalite] Excellent quality! I especially like the extra holes that are tapped to receive 1/4 and 3/8 bracket studs. Use this feature to take the weight of softboxes off the strobe head, and transfer it to the bracket! Nice!

[10] After purchasing a 36 Dynalite [RiMELITE] octabox I found the required SDL-16 speed-ring to be a little hard to find. When my options looked like 'buy from the manufacturer in Korea DIRECT' I figured this would be price prohibitive & it was.

As always B&H to the rescue & quick chat later the advice was this SR from Impact will do the trick, but it might be a little tight. Well, it is not tight. It is perfect. It is robustly made & fits perfectly so the velcro flaps at close perfectly.

[Strip] Needed to replace an old speed ring but did not want to pay the Chimera price for a legacy / nostalgia piece of equipment. As the RiMELITE SDL-16 isn't stocked anywhere I spoke with the parts team & they advised this unit would work.

At $20 it is perfect, fits the octa perfectly, no stretching & removing thebrods was only difficult as my hands were sweaty. Gloves on & they pop out without any hassle.

[Dynalite] This speed ring gives me the ability to use my impact softboxes with the older Dynalite 2040 strobe heads. The build on this speed ring is all metal construction and feels very sturdy. Customer service with Impact is impeccable. I contacted them regarding a missing rubber stopper and their response was immediate. They sent out a replacement part the next day with a confirmation email. Great company that stands behind their products.
