Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do I need a female 1/4 -20 to Male 3/8 adapter to connect this to a Manfrotto 175 spring clamp or 175F Justin clamp and the other end to a super clamp?

A: The non hex stud end will fit in a Justin clamp. But it is recommended to use a super clamp. The 5/8 hex stud end will secure much more and can handle more weight than a Justin clamp.

Q: 2. What is the weight capacity when the arms are at maximum length horizontally?

A: The, Impact 2 Section Double Articulated Arm with Camera Bracket at full extension can support up to 11 lbs.

Q: 3. Does a 1/4 screw fit through the pre-drilled holes on the "arm"? Trying to rig a clamp onto an umbrella holder...

A: A 1/4-20 screw is too big for that Impact Clamp. Something like an M4 screw should work though.

Q: 4. Can this be used in any 75mm bowl?

A: I cant vouch for every brand of bowl, but I have used it in a RRS and Leofoto bowl.

Q: 5. What would be the advantage of using this vs the universal leveling base?

A: The bowl is down in the tripod platform, and one handed tightening for heavier loads is easier. I have used the universal and the TA-3, I dont care for the Universal at all, but really like the TA-3. I can lock the load level much easier, and have a finer control over how much it can slip, for example, if I want to pan.

Q: 6. Can I attach a microphone (5/8 ) clip?

A: You probably can but it requires a few pieces of intermediate hardware: First get the Micro Clamp with Spigot Kit, then get a 3/8 female to 5/8 male adapter. Attach your 5/8 female mic clip. Voila!

Q: 7. Could the super clamp and this arm fall off on a motorcycle at speed? I think the clamp would stay in place but the arm might bend. I will be using a GoPro (ie not heavy).

A: Get a Ram Mount. (company name). Ton of options for motorcycles.

Q: 8. How would this compare to the equivalent manfrotto one as far as stability and durability?

A: Impact can take more payload and weighs less than the same Manfrotto version, however it could be said that the Manfrotto is built better or works smoother, your mileage may vary with that however. Stability/payload wise it seems Impact is the way to go.

Q: 9. Can the camera bracket 'axle' point UP so that a camcorder can sit on TOP of it? The photos show the post which looks like the support for the bracket pointing DOWN such that the camera would have to hang upside down.

A: Yes, the camera bracket 5/8 pin can sit on top. It moves 180 degrees. You can see the pivot on the arm in this photo, https://bit.ly/2WScxtK .

Q: 10. Which babyplate could I use to mount this to the ceiling?

A: You can use one of these. https://bhpho.to/36YUojP

[Spring] Excellent quality product. Very heavy and sturdy for a great support of large of heavy equipment application. 2 things I was disappointed in. There is a hole in one end that I could have used if it had threads in it. The other is the second stud is permanently mounted so it cannot be removed and replaced with different stud mounts for different needs.
