The 2" diameter barrel Explore Scientific 82° 24mm Eyepiece (2")from Explore Scientific 82° 24mm Eyepiece (2")is engineered to deliver a wide field of view with a long eye relief, making it ideal for planetary and deep-space observations. Its long eye relief makes it extremely comfortable during long observation sessions while offering you the ability to utilize the averted vision techniques that allow you to see faint details of elusive objects like wispy nebulae and galaxies. Viewing comfort is also optimized for eyeglass wearers.

Proprietary EMD anti-reflective multi-coatings ensure bright, high-contrast images with true color transmission across the entire wide field of view. To keep internal reflections to a minimum and improve contrast, the inside of the barrel is blackened, as are the edges of the lenses, to minimize the scattering of light within the lenses themselves. A fold-down rubber eyecup prevents stray light from leaking into the eye, further boosting contrast.

All eyepieces in the 82° Series are parfocal, so there will be little to no need to refocus when moving from one focal length to the next. This eyepiece features a textured surface for a sure grip when changing it out, and it is argon filled for water and fogproof performance when used in extreme temperatures and climates.

[33.5 mm] Sharp stars across the field on my 12 f/5 Dob, definitely a step up from my old 70 degree SWA. Solidly made. Comfortable eye relief and inviting wide-angle view at 82 deg.

[33.5 mm] This is my first 2" EP and my first 82 degree FOV EP. The view of the double cluster (I could see both in the FOV with my Meade LS-8) was simply spectacular. I was a little anxious about spending close to $300 for an EP. However it is definitely worth the money.

[33.5 mm] This item fits the description. It has crystal sharp views and a very wide angle. Keep in mind it is quite a lot larger and heavier than the lower focal length eyepieces in this series.

[24mm] I put this eyepiece on my Celestron EdgeHD 8. It is about the widest FOV that I could pull off the OTA. The view is really crisp with point stars to the edge. I can't see any edge brightening or vignetting. The resolution is enough to clearly see the four stars of M42 Trapezium, Jupiter bands, Saturn rings, and even, barely, Saturn cloud bands.
The eye relief is comfortable to view the entire field, without glasses.
This is a hefty piece. Not a problem on an 8 SCT, but may be awkward on a smaller OTA.
