The Burris Optics 3-9x40 DropTine Riflescope Ballistic Plex Sabotfrom Burris Optics 3-9x40 DropTine Riflescope Ballistic Plex Sabotis a versatile, general-purpose scope for medium to long-range use. With anti-reflection Hi-Lume multicoated optics, views through it are bright and clear, even in low-light conditions, with high contrast and true color representation. Precise 1/4 MOA per click shot correction helps you get on-target faster, and its 50 MOA windage/elevation adjustment range will allow you to compensate for most conditions and terrain.

The DropTine scope employs the Ballistic Plex Sabot reticle, placed on the second (rear) focal plane. This is a modified duplex crosshair-style reticle with medium-thick posts that sharply taper to thin center hairs. The lower vertical axis has a short post, and the long hair features dots for ballistic drop compensation for sabot rounds out to 500 yards

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. When the description mentions shift it puts (APS-C) after it. Can you also use the shift on a full-frame camera, or is the image circle too small?

A: I havent had the opportunity to try the shift on my D800, but my understanding is that it will significantly vignette.

Q: 2. Does it work with a generic 4x6 (100mm) square filter holder? If yes, has the vignette issue become worse? Thanks.

A: Yes, a filter holder for 100mm filters can be attached and the lens is compatible with those filters.

Q: 3. So this lens can be used for major photography purposes (like architectural) beside macro?

A: Yes, that lens can be used for architectural shots. If you use the lens on an APS-C sensor camera you get the benefits of the lens being able to shift for perspective.

Q: 4. I'd like to purchase the Canon EF version with the intent of adapting it for Panasonic GH5 and Sony FS5 cameras. Will the appropriate adapters work or will there be any issues related to function and ability of the lens?

A: As long as those Panasonic and Sony cameras are Canon mount, it will work. The lens is 100% manual; there are no adapters to worry about.

Q: 5. Can someone with the Sony E mount version of the lens measure the height for me without the hood? I notice all the variants list a 3.3inch height, so clearly the sony mount one isn't adding the extra hight of the adapter that's basically fixed to the lens.

A: The manufacturer does not list the dimension and B&H agents are not able to open boxes to measure so our guesstimate is a length of 5.3".

Q: 6. what type of brush hair material?

A: This Fujinon Lens Pen for Optics uses "goat hair" for the brush.

Q: 7. How many mm of shift/rise would you be able to get on an APS-C (Sony a6300)?

A: The shift is only compatible on crop frame cameras such as the A6300 and the lens offers +/- 6mm of vertical shift which can help correct for perspective when shooting objects such as buildings. Using the shift on a full frame would result in image vignetting.

Q: 8. Is there a 4/3 adapter for this lens?

A: This is an adapter you can use if your camera is the older DSLR 4/3rds mount. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/563533-REG/Novoflex_FT_NIK_Lens_Mount_Adapter.html

Q: 9. Which lens mount can it fit on techart pro? I looking to get this lens to fix onto techart then to Sony A7.

A: Nikon has the longest flange focal distance so this means it is generally the easiest to adapt. I use both Sony and Nikon so I purchased the Nikon mount with this lens. I use it with my a7rii with a very simple mechanical adapter from ebay and it works great. Sorry I don't have specific info regarding the Techart Pro, but I thought this suggestion might be helpful in your search for information.

Q: 10. How many degrees of rotation on the focus ring? Also is aperture ring stepless?

A: There is approx 100 degrees of rotation on the focus ring, and the aperture ring is stepless.

[1"] I bought this to go on a 22 magnum rifle. It is very clear and bright. The bullet drop marks are a added bonus and work to adjust impact at extended ranges. They held true for me out to 400 yards. I’m impressed.

[3 to 9x] Nice finish. Crystal clear optic. Great construction. The elevation and windage adjustments can be turned by hand and don’t require a tool or quarter. I’ve only been out target shooting so far but I’m excited for ptarmigan hunting this fall!! I would recommend this for beginners and experts alike. 5 starts great product. I will be ordering another Burris optic for my hunting rifle soon. I will update review after a few months of use and after bird season.
