Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will a Nikon 600mm f/4 lens with reversed hood fit in this case?

A: It would be better to use the slightly larger ThinkTank Airport International V3.0 https://bhpho.to/2JXnWAY.

Q: 2. Hello Everyone,Does anybody know if the laptop compartment would fit a Mac Book Pro (15.4 size) Late 2015, thanks for the response.

A: Yes, it fits my Mac Book Pro 15 Mid 2015. But it is hard to squeeze in if you already have the Mac Book in a padded case. You have to put it in by itself.

Q: 3. It will work as Hand luggage in the airport?

A: Totally! I use this and a backpack on flights. Fits in overhead nicely.

Q: 4. when one has the backpack straps deployed, and the cover for the straps is turned inside-out and secured (velcro?) on the underside of the bag, if one has to set the bag down for a minute, does the inside of that folded-down cover scrape the ground? If so, seems like one has to be very careful where one sets the bag down when one takes the backpack off...?

A: When you deploy the backpack straps the flap velcros onto the bottom and because of the spacers and wheels on the bottom, nothing scrapes luckily.

Q: 5. Are think tank wheels replaceable??

A: Yes they are!! I had one wheel crack (they're well designed, dual wheels, if one breaks there's still another there) and ThinkTank sent me out a replacement as soon as I contacted them! Great customer service!!

Q: 6. Does Canon C70 or C80 fit in Presspass20?

A: Unfortunately, the Canon C70 or C80 are too large to fit in the Think Tank Photo PressPass 20 Camera Bag with a lens attached.

Q: 7. Two questions: 1. Is this airline approved as a carry-on?2. I need to carry a Nikon D800, 200-500mm lens, 28-300mm lens, a Speedlight and filters. Is this the right case?

A: Yes, even for international flights. I have drug it around more airports than I can remember. A great bag, definitely worth the cost. My only consideration is the length of the 200-500. Measure the lens and compare to te bag specs.

Q: 8. What are the main differences between Airport Takeoff v1 and v2.0?

A: Direct from Think Tank Photo Customer Service because I had the same question before they released the bag.The main differences between the V1 and V2 is the V2 is a little lighter, has a few new pockets, and has a redesigned handle.

Q: 9. Due to its material and features, isn't this bag too much heavy by its own (even empty, with no stuffs on it) and as so adds too much weight for carrying the whole system? I mean I'm wondering if the bag by itself is already heavy, when filled with photo gear will end up much heavier, maybe causing problems not only bo be carried as a backpack but also to be accepted as a non-checked luggage. According to your experience traveling with this bag, how should I feel about my concern? Thanks in advance!

A: I have only traveled with this bag once, but I appreciated it. Because it can be a roller or a backpack, it gives versatility to arrangement of all baggage you are trying to move at one time. For example, when pulling all your rolling luggage, it's a backpack. When your baggage is checked, it's an easy roller. Weight-i just changed from a hard case system and this us so much lighter. Loaded it's heavy but it's easy to carry as a backpack even then. I don't know if there is another bag that weighs less and still gives your equipment protection. I looked at a lot of bags and made a chart of the characteristics and this was my choice. It fits in standard overhead bins-although i didn't use the computer bag b/c i was pretty sure that would not fit too and it would not have. My concern is when changing to smaller commuter planes, this is not going to fit. But when flying into some areas like Saba, the plane is too small for any carry on. So sooner or later it will have to be checked. I don't like that at all, but is the reality. As far as the airlines refusing it as carry on b/c of weight- on standard flights I have always found it to be the size if the bag, not the weight. When they have checked the weight, it has been in smaller airlines where it might not have fit anyway. I hope this helps! Having traveling!

Q: 10. I have a video tripod( 34inch folded) and I would like to attach to RD. Does Think Tank offer a compatible tripod cup holder?

A: There is no compatible tripod cup holder for the Think Tank Photo Airport Roller Derby Rolling Carry-On Camera Bag.

[12.65 lb] Such a necessary buy! I've been using the same travel bag for years, but since a bad rear ending accident lugging around a heavy carry on bag is less than ideal. So I got this bag and was able to move around the airport so easily. The wheels are amazing! Haha was able to fit all of my equipment including the canon R5c body and a few lenses. I was even able to put my westcott compact lightsstands on the side and secured it w the start and for the first time didn't have to worry about things falling out from the bag! Very happy with my purchase.

[Yes] I saw this bag on KelbyOne and thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did. Excellent quality with tons of room. I not only use it when I fly, but it is now the primary bag for all my photo shoots. The only time I don't use it is when I need a backpack. It holds both of my cameras with zoom lenses attached, and plenty more room for the rest of my lenses and accessories. The wheels are super smooth. It takes no effort to move it. The adjustable length handle is great. Fully extended the bag follows you around like any other carry-on bag. Adjust it to the lower hight and the bag follows right next to you. I love this bag!

[Yes] Got to where a backpack got computer items and another for camera gear was just too much. Modifying each leads to a great consolidation into this piece. One minor critique is the pocket for the notebook and accessories doesn’t open very far. Another 1:2 in or so in each side would be big improvement

[Black] This camera bag is an absolute work horse. I've used it for years, traveled many times with it, taken it on hundreds of shoots and nothing has ever broken or come undone, not even a zipper pull. I've pushed, pulled, sat on it, kicked it around, raised and lowered the handled thousands of times and it works as if it's brand new. The spinner wheels are incredibly smooth and make it a breeze to roll around and also takes the weight off of having to drag it which makes a huge difference. I wouldn't mind a wheel lock though for when riding the subway or at the top of an incline. That would be my one and only request. The locking cord is a genius feature as well and has really come in handy. This bag holds all of my camera gear, 2 bodies, 5-6 lenses, a water bottle, 16 laptop and tripod, plus extra essentials. It is hands down the best, most practical and sturdiest camera bag I've ever used.

[12.65 lb] This is a great, well-made camera bag. Every year they seem to make little improvements on an already great bag. It's easy to arrange the space to exactly what you need, and I absolutely love the 4 roller wheels instead of just 2. The bag is quite deep, so I am able to double stack some lenses with the padded spacers. There's even an exterior pocket for a laptop. If you want to protect your gear and transport it easily, this is the bag for you.

[Zipper] I have used this bag while traveling through many airports with my Sony FX9 and MacBook Pro packed safely inside. Great investment for me.

[Yes] It took me a while to buy this as it's expensive. But I am happy to have it. It protects the gear really well and the rollers work well too.

[Zipper] This is the greatest camera travel bag ever. I was a real advocate of pelican cases, and they do have their purpose, but for travel, walking through airports and in the main cabin? Even walking around a city or on a job site? This bag exceeds any I have experienced. And the roller system with 4 wheels is a face changer. I spent the high $$ just to save my arms from dragging my older bag. Made a massive difference. Saves my energy for shooting. The interior is roomy as well, once you get your packing system down.

Only cons. It is not built well in consideration of falling over when you have a shoulder bag sitting atop. It leans forward too much. I know their reasoning, bigger wheel in the rear to handle weight when you do decide to drag the bag instead of the standing roll. Another con is the storage system of the smaller zippered compartments on the interior. The are not sectioned off well and just create a huge pocket where everything gets scattered and items also called out easily when fully opened.

Other than that. Rock solid. Would not hesitate to spend the money again, if even just to save my arm and shoulders. It is a very sturdy bag. Do not be afraid to get rid of the uber hard case you’ve loved for years.buy it now. Stop waiting like I did.

[Black] Yes, this bag is pricey. It is worth the price though. The wheels are super smooth and the bag is very stiff and sturdy. I've had this bag for over two years and it makes traveling in airports a piece of cake.

Big fan!
